We investigated the influences of positive thought about social capital on social participation of the elderly Koreans. The study design was cross-sectional analysis of the National Statistic Office Study of Korean Society Statistics Survey 2003. Participants were total of 8,586 representative samples. Two types of social participation were investigated: meeting attendance and volunteer obligations. The base model included five thoughts about social capital that must be settled as a priority in Korea, i.e., reducing the differences between the rich and the poor, reducing the crime rate, reducing regulations and corruption, improving the moral level, eliminating environmental pollution. Social participation was influenced by positive thoughts about social capital, and different kinds of thoughts had different influences on different types of social participation. The elderly who responded positively to 'reducing the differences between the rich and the poor' attended all two types of social participation more. Along with education and health status, positive thought about social capital is another important factor that influences increased social participation. It may also compensate for deteriorating health with increasing age by promoting social participation. Encouraging social participation is a good way to improve the health of the elderly, as are efforts to change thought about social capital positively.

세상이 디지털화 되면서 많은 사람들은 그 수혜자가 되어 과거에 우리가 상상만으로 꿈꾸던 것이 이제는 현실 속에서 일어나고 있다. 바로 꿈의 시대, 디지털 시대가 도래한 것이다. 그러나 이러한 디지털 시대는 과거의 경제적 빈부의 격차에서 정보 접근의 빈부 격차라는 새로운 모순점을 만들어 내기도 했다. 즉 이는 정보에 쉽게 접근할 수 있는 인터넷을 비롯한 첨단 미디어를 이용할 수 있는 이용자가 제한되어 있기 때문에 발생하는 것이다. 소위 말하는 디지털 시대의 소외계층인 이들은 일반 가정생활을 비롯한 여러 사회 문화에서 소외가 되어지고 있는 실정이다. 이중 노년층에 대한 디지털 소외 현상도 커다란 사회문제로 대두되고 있는 것 또한 사실이다. 그러나 최근들어 몇몇 민간단체에서 이들을 소외계층에서 벗어나게 하고자 하는 노력에 의해 그 결과가 나타나고 있어 화제가 되고 있다. 바로 이러한 인터넷에 은빛 물결을 만드는 사람들은 다름 아닌 실버넷 운동본부이다.

The film handles some happenings based on the story that a poor family sponges off a rich family. Junho Bong, a film director, has won the Palme d'Or in Cannes Film Festival and received a Academy Award for best picture, best original screen play, best international film and best director. The film has accomplished the cinematic achievements, but it seems that the implications the film aims to show might not be seriously appreciated to the public. The film has an unusual synopsis, which demonstrates that a deprived family is parasitic to a wealthy family. The storyline specifies how great the gap between the rich and the poor in Korea is. Accordingly, this article investigates some implications of the house, family, and society in the film .Consequently, three families (Kitaek's house, Park's luxury house, and maid's hidden basement) explicitly reveal distinctive social hierarchy. The common features found in two families are like this: the lower classes are willing to help one another but have no conscience and morality. The social implications in the film are closely associated with the class system based on the gap between the rich and the poor, the symbols of stone, and tragic ending. From the ending of the film, it is expected that the extreme social imbalance precedes the gap between the wealthy and the poor.

에이즈는 세계의 모든 국가들이 공동으로 대처해나가야 할 과제가 되었으며 이에 따라 많은 연구와 정책이 시행되었다. 그러나 아직까지도 선진국과 후진국 간에는 빈부의 격차만큼 에이즈의 예방과 치료에 관한 지원도 엄청난 차이를 보이고 있으며 일부 후진국에서는 국가의 흥망을 논할 지경에 이르렀다. 다행히 일부 선진국과 국제기구, 또 개인의 노력으로 점차 그들에 대하 지원이 늘어가는 추세를 보이고 있는데 이는 세계의 앞날을 위해서 너무나 당연하며 바람직한 현상이다.
