  • 본 연구에서는 LF2407 DSP제어기를 사용한 혼합형 랜덤 펄스폭 변조기법(HRPWM : Hybrid Random PWM)을 제안하였다. 제안된 HRPWM은 PRBS (Pseudo-Random Binary Sequence)로 동작하는 시프트 레지스터의 lead-lag 랜덤 비트를 사용한다는 점에서 종전의 방법과 동일하다. 그러나 Lead-Lag 랜덤 비트와 논리적인 비교를 하기 위해 고정 주파수의 캐리어를 사용 하지 않고 랜덤 주파수의 삼각파 캐리어를 이용한다는 점이 종전의 방법과 다르다. LF2407 DSP에 의하여 랜덤 수 및 PRBS 그리고 3상 기준 정현파를 실시간으로 발생하며, DSP외부의 주파수 변조기 MAX038에 의하여 랜덤 주파수의 캐리어를 발생한다. 제안된 기법을 LF2407기반의 3상 유도모터 구동장치에 적용한 결과, 모터 전류파형은 종전의 방법과 유사한 파형을 유지하면서도 모터 전압 및 전류의 고조파 스펙트럼은 광대역 주파수로 분포시킬 수 있었다.

Performance Analysis of OFDM Systems in the Presence of DC Offset and Frequency Offset (직류 성분 편차 및 주파수 편차가 존재하는 OFDM 시스템의 성능 분석)

  • I perform bit error rate(BER) analysis of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(OFDM) systems impaired by both direct current(DC) offset and carrier frequency offset. By analyzing the BER performance for real OFDM systems employing 16-quadrature amplitude modulation(QAM) and pilot symbol estimation, the dependency of BER on the DC offset and carrier frequency offset is quantified and compared to ideal performance. Results show that the magnitude of frequency offset and DC offset are required to be less than 0.01 and 0.007, respectively.

Audio Quality Enhancement at a Low-bit Rate Perceptual Audio Coding (저비트율로 압축된 오디오의 음질 개선 방법)

  • Low-titrate audio coding enables a number of Internet and mobile multimedia streaming service more efficiently. For the help of next-generation mobile telephone technologies and digital audio/video compression algorithm, we can enjoy the real-time multimedia contents on our mobile devices (cellular phone, PDA notebook, etc). But the limited available bandwidth of mobile communication network prohibits transmitting high-qualify AV contents. In addition, most bandwidth is assigned to transmit video contents. In this paper, we design a novel and simple method for reproducing high frequency components. The spectrum of high frequency components, which are lost by down-sampling, are modeled by the energy rate with low frequency band in Bark scale, and these values are multiplexed with conventional coded bitstream. At the decoder side, the high frequency components are reconstructed by duplicating with low frequency band spectrum at a rate of decoded energy rates. As a result of segmental SNR and MOS test, we convinced that our proposed method enhances the subjective sound quality only 10%∼20% additional bits. In addition, this proposed method can apply all kinds of frequency domain audio compression algorithms, such as MPEG-1/2, AAC, AC-3, and etc.

Performance of Convolution Coding Underwater Acoustic Communication System on Frequency Selectivity Index (주파수 선택 지표에 따른 길쌈 부호 수중 음향 통신 시스템의 성능 평가)

  • The convolution code(CC) of code rate 1/2 as a forward error correction (FEC) in Quadrature Phase Shift Keying (QPSK) is applied to decrease bit error rate (BER) by background noise and multipath in shallow water acoustic channel. Ratio of transmitting signal bandwidth to channel coherence bandwidth is defined as frequency selectivity index. BER and bit energy-to-noise ratio gain of transmitted signal according to frequency selectivity index are evaluated. In the results of indoor water tank experiment, BER is well matched theoretical results at frequency selectivity index less than about 1.0. And bit energy-to-noise ratio gain is also matched theoretical value of 5 dB. BER is effectively decreased at frequency selective multipath channel with frequency selectivity index higher than 1.0. But bit energy-to-noise ratio greater than a certain size in terms of CC weaving is effective in reducing bit errors. In the results, the defined frequency selectivity index in this study could be applied to evaluate a performance of CC in multipath channel. Also it could effectively reduced BER in a low speed underwater acoustic communication system without an equalizer.

Perceptual and Adaptive Quantization of Line Spectral Frequency Parameters (선 스펙트럼 주파수의 청각 적응 부호화)

  • Line special frequency (LSF) parameters have been widely used in low bit-rate speech coding due to their efficiency for representing the short-time speech spectrum. In this paper, a new distance measure based on the masking properties of human ear is proposed for quantizing LSF parameters whereas most conventional quantization methods are based on the weighted Euclidean distance measure. The proposed method derives the perceptual distance measure from the definition of noise-to-mask ratio (NMR) which has high correspondence with the actual distortion received in the human ear and uses it for quantizing LSF parameters. In addition, we propose an adaptive bit allocation scheme, which allocates minimal bits to LSF parameters maintaining the perceptual transparency of given speech frame for reducing the average bit-rates. For the performance evaluation, we has shown the ratio of perceptually transparent frames and the corresponding average bit-rates for the conventional and proposed methods. By jointly combining the proposed distance measure and adaptive bit allocation scheme, the proposed system requires only 770 bps for obtaining 95.5% perceptually transparent frames, while the conventional systems produce 89.9% at even 1800 bps.

  • IPTV, 블루레이 디스크, DMB 등과 같은 멀티미디어 서비스에서 H.264/AVC 비디오 표준기술을 채택하고 있다. 따라서 H.264/AVC 비트스트림을 고속으로 인덱싱하기 위한 썸네일 기술이 요구 된다. 그러나 H.264/AVC는 기존 표준기술과는 다르게 인트라 모드에서도 예측방법을 이용하기 때문에 새로운 썸네일 추출방법이 요구되어 최근에 H.264/AVC 비트스트림 상에서 썸네일을 추출하는 방법이 제안되었다. 그러나 이 방법에서는 인트라 $16{\times}16$ 모드와 연관된 블록에서 심각한 화질의 저하가 발생하며, QP 값이 커질수록 그 증상이 더 심해지는 문제점이 있다. 그리고 공간주파수 영역에서 처리하기 때문에 예측 모드에 따라 연산오류가 발생하여 이 오류가 파급되는 문제가 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 공간주파수 영역에서 H.264/AVC 썸네일을 추출할 때 인트라 $16{\times}16$ 예측 모드에서도 오류가 발생하지 않도록 하는 방법과 공간주파수 영역에서 발생하는 연산 오류를 보상하는 방법을 제안한다. 그리고 제안한 방법을 다양한 시험 비디오 시퀀스에 적용하여 이전 썸네일 추출 방법과 비교하여 프레임에 따라 최대 PSNR 약 4dB 증가 및 주관적 화질을 향상시켰다.

Performance Evaluation of Convolution Coding OFDM Systems (컨볼루션 코딩 OFDM 시스템의 성능 분석)

  • OFDM technique uses multiple sub-carriers for the data transmission. Therefore, bit error rate increases because of inter-carrier interference caused by nonlinear high power amplifier and carrier frequency offset. Wireless OFDM transmission over multi path fading channels is characterized by small transmission gain in multiple sub-carrier frequency interval. Therefore bit error rate increases because of burst errors. Inter-leaver and convolution error control coding are effective for the reduction of this burst error. Pilot symbol is used for the channel estimation in OFDM systems. However, imperfect channel estimates in this systems degrade the performance. The performance of this convolution coding OFDM systems using inter-leaver, gauged by the bit error rate, is analyzed considering the nonlinear high power amplifier, carrier frequency offset and channel estimation error.

  • In this paper, level instrument is implemented using beat frequency for distance measurement which means the difference between Tx and Rx signal frequency from FMCW Radar Level Transmitter. Beat frequency is analyzed through Fast Fourier Transform of which frequency precision can be improved by applying Zoom FFT. Distance precision is improved from 146.5[mm] to 5[mm] using the advantage of Zoom FFT which can raise the frequency precision without changing the sampling frequency or FFT point number to be fixed in the beginning of designing signal processing. Also, measurement error can be reduced within 2[mm] by incresing the FFT points using the method of Spline interpolation. For verifying the effectiveness of this Zoom FFT to FMCW Radar Level Transmitter, test bench is made to measure the distance for every 1[mm] between 700[mm] and 2000[mm] and measurement error can be checked in the range of ${\pm}2$[mm].

  • 웨이블렛 변환을 이용한 영상 압축의 방법에 있어서 최근 우수한 압축 성능을 보이는 비트 평면 부호화 방법이 많이 발전되어 왔다. 본 논문에서는 블록 기반 제로트리와 사진나무구조를 이용하여 비트 평면을 효율적으로 부호화함으로써 우수한 압축 성능을 보이는 부호기를 제안한다. 블록 기반 제로트리는 주파수 대역에 걸쳐 상관성을 보이며 존재하는 중요하지 않은 계수를 효과적으로 부호화하며, 사진나무구조는 블록 안에 있는 중요한 계수를 찾아내어 부호화한다. 제안하는 부호기의 성능은 기존의 우수한 비트 평면 부호기에 필적하는 성능을 보이며, 특히 낮은 피라미드 레벨과 저비트율에서의 성능이 더 우수함을 보인다.

  • A channel is very sever in an underwater acoustic communication. Therefore, a modulation method with high spectrum efficiency is needed in an underwater acoustic communication. PSK(phase shift keying) for transmitting 1 bit or 2 bits is robust to noise, but sensitive to noise about more than 3 bits. CPFSK error performance for transmitting 1 bit or 2 bits is similar to that of PSK and CPFSK decreases high frequency components in modulation signal. In the paper, I analyze the performance of trellis coded 4-CPFSK modulation.
