Guillain-Barre Syndrome is a disorder caused by nerve inflammation. The inflammation damages portions of the nerve cells, resulting in pain, numbness, muscle weakness or paralysis and sensory loss. The damage can also leads to denervation (killing the axon part of the nerve cell), which stops nerve function entirely. Without the axon, messages cannot be transferred from one nerve cell to another, but the causes and mechanism of this syndrome are unknown. This is a clinical report about two patients diagnosed with Guillain-Barre Syndrome. The patients, a 54-year-old woman and a 37-years-old man, had pain, and weakness in both legs and arms. After about 4 weeks of Korean medicine and acupuncture treatment, most of their symptoms improved. Therefore, Korean traditional therapy has potential for treatment of Guillain-Barre Syndrome.

Objectives : Bi-jeung is a traditional oriental medical name. Bi-jeung is similar to rheumatoid arthritis(RA). This study was investigated to get the practical use of Bi-jeung prescriptions in Byunjeungrok. Methods: Original records related Bi-jeung in Byunjeungrok are interpreted and contemplated. Results: Bi-jeung prescriptions in Byunjeungrok are put stress on Byunjeung in conformity with entrails good energy enforcing as well as evil energy eliminating removing damp-evil among wind-evil cold-evil and damp-evil showing concrete prognosis. Conclusions: This study indicates that Bi-jeung prescriptions in Byunjeungrok have an influences for RA. It may also suggest that Bi-jeung prescriptions may expand therapy field for treatment of RA. and its complications.

Objective : The purpose of this study is to report to treat the patient who had numbness, paresthesia, pain after hip fracture in the category of Bi. Methods : The patient was treated by acupunture, moxibustion and herb medication. Conclusion : Pain, numbness, paresthesia belongs to Bi in the oriental medicine and the case that complains pain especially is Tong Bi. We experienced that improvement of the circulation the blood and gi, adding energy by acupuncture, moxibustion and herb medication have the effect treating Bi.

Background and Purpose : Paresthesia is a common symptom in stroke patients, but very little research has been done on that. The purpose of this research was differentiating the syndromes of paresthesia in stroke patients. Methods: We studied about the paresthesia in 21 stroke patients. To differentiate the syndromes of paresthesia in stroke patients, we use oriental medicine methods. The locations of the lesions were identified with the use of CT and/or MRI. Results: The differentiation of syndroms about paresthesia were Yinhuyanghangzeng, Hynleozeng and Hwaynlzeng in order of frequency. Yinhuyanghangzeng was more frequent in female and at upper extremity. Hyuleozeng was accompanied with Qihuzeng and Yinhuyanghangzeng and its duration of disease was relatively long. Hwayulzeng was more frequent in male and its duration of disease was short. Conclusions : We hope there are more studies about the differentiation of syndroms and exantinations of paresthesia in many stroke patients.

A 44-year-old man with a past medical history of splenectomy came to hospital because of epigastric pain. Abdominopelvic computed tomography(CT) showed a soft tissue mass and multifocal variable-sized nodules as well as findings suggestive of cholecystitis. Subsequently, he underwent Tc-99m-labeled heat-denatured red blood cell(RBC) scintigraphy to evaluate the mass and nodules. The scintigraphy confirmed multifocal peritoneal splenosis in the abdominopelvic cavity.

Clinically the arthritis occupies much part of musculoskeletal diseases. The arthrits is subordinate to Bi-jeung in the oriental medicine. The causes of Bi-jeung are almost proposed as Pung-Han-Sup-Yeol, and various herb medication were composed following this standard. In this paper, herb medications corresponded with Bi-jeung of Bangyakhappyeon(方藥合編) were anlysed. And the results are as follws. 1. Herb medications of Bi-jeung were composed with 4 parts, Sangtong(8 medications), Jungtong(7), Hatong(6) and Jeungbobang(7). 2. Herb medications of Bi-jeung were almost composed with Geopungsupyak, Haepyoyak(解表藥), Onryyak(溫裏藥), Boyikyak(補益藥), Yigiyak(理氣藥), and Hwalhyeol-geouhyak. 3. Analysed with a source book, Dongeuibogam was the most quotational literature.
