New Moving Picture Decoding Process using Picture Resemblance (닮은꼴을 이용한 새로운 동영상 디코딩 처리방법)

  • In this paper, MPEG2(Moving Picture Expert Group 2) image data video decoding technique is presented, it is Huffman decoding method and fractal image method which is very complexive algorithm and have too much times to implement this method. This have defect of overlap decoding and transport work because of impossible to represent objective value of resemblance. The proposed method was calculated the mathematical absolute image resemblance and simplify the moving picture process to reducing the step of moving picture codefying. The results show that smoothed moving picture compared recent methods.

Bit-plane based Lossless Depth Map Coding Method (비트평면 기반 무손실 깊이정보 맵 부호화 방법)

  • This paper proposes a method for efficient lossless depth map coding for MPEG 3D-Video coding. In general, the conventional video coding method such as H.264 has been used for depth map coding. However, the conventional video coding methods do not consider the image characteristics of the depth map. Therefore, as a lossless depth map coding method, this paper proposes a bit-plane based lossless depth mar coding method by using the MPEG-4 Part 2 shape coding scheme. Simulation results show that the proposed method achieves the compression ratios of 28.91:1. In intra-only coding, proposed method reduces the bitrate by 24.84% in comparison with the JPEG-LS scheme, by 39.35% in comparison with the JPEG-2000 scheme, by 30.30% in comparison with the H.264(CAVLC mode) scheme, and by 16.65% in comparison with the H.264(CABAC mode) scheme. In addition, in intra and inter coding the proposed method reduces the bitrate by 36.22% in comparison with the H.264(CAVLC mode) scheme, and by 23.71% in comparison with the 0.264(CABAC mode) scheme.

A PDWZ Encoder Using Code Conversion and Bit Interleaver (코드변환과 비트 인터리버를 이용한 화소영역 Wyner-Ziv 부호화 기법)

  • Recently, DVC (Distributed Video Coding) is attracting a lot of research works since this enables us to implement a light-weight video encoder by distributing the high complex tasks such as motion estimation into the decoder side. In order to improve the coding efficiency of the DVC, the existing works have been focused on the efficient generation of side information (SI) or the virtual channel modeling which can describe the statistical channel noise well. But, in order to improve the overall performance, this paper proposes a new scheme that can be implemented with simple bit operations without introducing complex operation. That is, the performance of the proposed scheme is enhanced by using the fact that the Wyner-Ziv (WZ) frame and side information are highly correlated, and by reducing the effect of virtual channel noise which tends to be clustered in some regions. For this aim, this paper proposes an efficient pixel-domain WZ (PDWZ) CODEC which effectively exploits the statistical redundancy by using the code conversion and Gray code, and then reduces the channel noise by using the bit interleaver. Through computer simulations, it is shown that the proposed scheme can improve the performance up to 0.5 dB in objective visual quality.

  • 지상파 방송(DMB: Digital Multimedia Broadcasting)은 음성, 영상, 데이터와 같은 다양한 멀티미디어 신호를 디지털 방식으로 변조하여 이동 중에 방송을 청취 할 수 있는 차세대 디지털방송 서비스이다. 하지만 한정된 대역폭으로 인한 비디오 전송율의 한계에 따라 최대 CIF(Common Interleaved Frame)급 화면해상도까지 서비스가 가능하다. 그러나 지상파 DMB 전송 고도화망에서는 계층 변조(Hierarchical Modulation)전송 기법을 통하여 추가의 전송대역폭을 확보할 수 있다. 또한 스케일러블 비디오 코딩(Scalable Video Coding)부호화 방식을 이용하여 고전송효율/고품질의 이동 멀티미디어 방송서비스를 제공할 수 있는 고품질 AT(Advanced Terrestrial)-DMB 시스템이 가능하다. 이러한 고품질 AT-DMB의 개발에 있어서 여러 방식들이 제시됨에 따라 시뮬레이터를 통한 다중화 시스템의 분석이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 고품질 AT-DMB가 가능한 스케일러블 비디오 방식을 JM8.8을 사용하여 구현하였으며, 다중화 시스템의 실험을 하였다. 또한 시뮬레이터를 통하여 확보된 계층 간의 화질 차이와 엔지니어를 위해 비트스트림의 분석화면 및 PSNR을 제공 하였다.

Linear Sub-band Decomposition based Pre-processing Algorithm for Perceptual Video Coding (지각적 동영상 부호화를 위한 선형 부 대역 분해 기반 전처리 기법)

  • This paper proposes a pre-processing algorithm to improve perceptual video coding efficiency which decomposes an input frame via a sub-band decomposition, and suppresses only high frequency band(s) having low visual sensitivity. First, we decompose the input frame into several frequency subbands by a linear sub-band decomposition. Next, high frequency subband(s) which is rarely recognized by human visual system (HVS) is suppressed by applying relatively small gain(s). Finally, the high frequency suppressed frame is compressed by a specific video encoder. We can find from the experimental results that if comparing before-use and after-use of the proposed pre-processing prior to the encoder, no visual difference is shown. Also, the proposed algorithm achieves bit-saving of 13.12% on average in a H.264 video encoder.

  • This paper presents a depth boundary sharpening method for improved view synthesis in 3D video. In depth coding, distortion occurs around object boundaries, degrading the quality of synthesized images. In order to encounter this problem, the proposed method estimates an edge map for each frame to filter only the boundary regions. In particular, a window-based filter is employed to choose the most reliable pixel as the replacement considering three factors: frequency, similarity and closeness. The proposed method was implemented as post-processing of the deblocking filter in JMVC 8.3.Compared to the conventional methods, the proposed method generated 0.49 dB PSNR increase and 16.58% bitrate decrease on average. The improved portions were subjectively confirmed as well.

  • Recently, we need to dramatically speed up real-time video encoding and decoding on mobile devices because complexity of video CODEC is significantly increasing along with the demand for multimedia service of high-quality and high-definition videos by users. A variety of research is conducted for parallelism of video processing using newly developed multi-core platforms. In this paper, we propose a method of parallelism based on slice partition of video compression CODEC. We propose a novel concept of a parallel slice for parallelism and propose a new coding order to be adequate to the parallel slice which keeps high coding efficiency. To minimize synchronization time of multiple parallel slices, we also propose a synchronization method to determinate whether the parallel slice could be independently decoded or not. Experimental results shows that we achieved 27.5% (40.7%) speed-up by parallelism with bit-rate increase of 3.4% (2.7%) for CIF sequences (720p sequences) by implementing the proposed algorithm on the H.264/AVC.

A Study on the Reliable Video Transmission Through Source/Channel Combined Optimal Quantizer for EREC Based Bitstream (EREC 기반 비트열을 위한 Source-Channel 결합 최적 양자화기 설계 및 이를 통한 안정적 영상 전송에 관한 연구)

  • 오류를 수반하는 통신망을 통한 멀티미디어 데이터의 응용은 최근 그 수요가 급증하고 있다. 하지만 그 구현은 많은 문제점들을 야기하는데, 전송된 비디오 데이터에 발생한 오류를 처리하는 문제가 그 중 하나이다. 이는 압축된 비트열에 발생한 오류가 영상의 시-공간 방향으로 심각한 전파 현상을 수반하기 때문이다. 이러한 심각한 오류 전파를 완화하기 위해 본 논문에서는 EREC라 알려진 오류 제한 기법을 적용하고, 적용된 EREC의 오류 전파 특성을 분석하였다. 이를 통해, 압축 부호화된 하나의 기본 블록 (매크로 블록)이 복호시 오류가 생길 확률을 추정하였으며, 추정된 확률의 근사를 통해 양 끝단(전송단과 수신단)에서의 비디오 화질 열화를 예측하였다. 추정 확률의 근사는 매 기본 블록에서 발생된 비트수에 대한 그 기본 블록이 복호시 오류가 생길 확률을 간단한 1차식을 통한 선형 회귀법으로 모델링 되었으며, 따라서 간단한 방법을 통해 양 끝단의 화질 열화를 효과적으로 예측할 수 있었다. 부호화된 비트열이 전송 오류에 보다 강인하게 되도록 하기 위해, 본 논문에서 개발된 화질 열화 모델을 양자화기 선택에 적용함으로써, 새로운 최적 양자화 기법을 제시하였다. 본 논문에서 제안된 최적 양자화 기법은, 기존의 양자기 최적화 기법들과는 달리, 복호단에서의 복원 영상 화질이 주어진 비트율에서 최적이 되도록 양자화를 수행한다. H.263 비디오 압축 규격에 적용한 제안 양자화 기법의 실험 결과를 통해, 제안 기법이 매우 적은 계산상의 부하를 비용으로 객관적 화질은 물론 주관적 화질까지 크게 개선할 수 있음을 확인할 수 있었다.내었다.Lc. lacti ssp. lactis의 젖산과 초산의 생성량은 각각 0.089, 0.003과 0.189, 0.003M이었다. 따라서 corn steep liquor는 L. fermentum와 Lc. lactis ssp, lactis 의 생장을 위해 질소 또는 탄소 공급원으로서 배지에 첨가 될 수 있는 우수한 농업 부산물로 판단되었다.징하며 WLWQ에 적용되는 몇 가지 제약을 관찰하고 이를 일반적인 언어원리로 설명한다. 첫째, XP는 주어로만 해석되는데 그 이유는 XP가 목적어 혹은 부가어 등 다른 기능을 할 경우 생략 부위가 생략의 복원 가능선 원리 (the deletion-up-to recoverability principle)를 위배하기 때문이다. 둘째, WLWQ가 내용 의문문으로만 해석되는데 그 이유는 양의 공리(the maxim of quantity: Grice 1975) 때문이다. 평서문으로 해석될 경우 WP에 들어갈 부분이 XP의 자질의 부분집합에 불과하므로 명제가 아무런 정보제공을 하지 못한다. 반면 의문문 자체는 정보제공을 추구하지 않으므로 앞에서 언급한 양의 공리로부터 자유롭다. 셋째, WLWQ의 XP는 주제어 표지 ‘는/-은’을 취하나 주어표지 ‘가/-이’는 취하지 못한다(XP-는/-은 vs. XP-가/-이). 이는 IP내부 에 비공범주의 존재 여부에 따라 C의 음운형태(PF)가 시성이 정해진다는 가설로 설명하고자 했다. WLWQ에 대한 우리의 논의가 옳다면, 본 논문은 다음과 같은 이론적 함의를 기닌다. 첫째, WLWQ의 존재는 생략에 대한 두 이론 즉 LF 복사 이론과 PF 삭제 이론

Joint Quality Control of MPEG-2 Video Programs for Digital Broadcasting Services (디지털 방송 서비스를 위한 MPEG-2 비디오 프로그램들의 결합 화질 제어)

  • In digital broadcasting, services such as digital satellite TV, cable TV and digital terrestrial TV, several video programs are compressed by MPEG-2, and then simultaneously transmitted over a conventional CBR (Constant Bit Rate) broadcasting channel. In this paper, we propose a joint quality control scheme to be able to accurately control the relative picture quality among the video programs, which is achieved by simdt;,nL'Ously controlling the video encoders to generate the VBR (Variable Bit Rate) compressed video streams. Our quality control scheme can prevent the video buffer overflow and underflow by total target bit allocation process, and also exactly control the relative picture quality in terms of PSNR (Peak Signal to Noise Ratio) between some programs requiring higher picture quality and others by rate-distortion modification. Furthermore we present a rate-distortion estimation method for MPEG-2 video, which is base of our joint quality control, and verify its performance by experiments. The most attractive features of this estimation method are as follows: 1) computational complexity is low because main operation for the estimation is to calculate the histogram of OCT coefficients into quantizer; 2) estimation results are very accurate enough to be applied to the practical MPEG-2 video coding applications. Simulation results show that the proposed joint quality control scheme accurately controls the relative picture quality among the video progran1s transmitted over a single channel as well as provides more consistent and higher picture quality than independent coding scheme that encodes each program independently.

Fast motion estimation and mode decision for variable block sizes motion compensation in H.264 (H.264의 가변 블록 움직임 보상을 위한 고속 움직임 벡터 탐색 및 모드 결정법)

  • The now video coding standard H.264 employs variable block size motion compensation, multiple references, and quarter-pel motion vector accuracy. These techniques are key features to accomplish higher coding gain, however, at the same time main factors that increase overall computational complexity. Therefore, in order to apply H.264 to many applications, key techniques are requested to improve their speed. For this reason, we propose a fast motion estimation which is suited for variable block size motion communication. In addition, we propose a fast mode decision method to choose the best mode at early stage. Experimental results show the reduction of the number of SAT SATD calculations by a factor of 4.5 and 2.6 times respectively, when we compare the proposed fast motion estimation and the conventional MVFAS $T^{[8-10]}$. Besides, the number of RDcost computations is reduced by about 45%. Therefore, the proposed methods reduces significantly its computational complexity without noticeable coding loss.
