  • This study is a meta-analysis study conducted to integrate and analyze the results of flip-learning studies for Korean nursing students. We searched PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane, CINAHL, and Korean databases. Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and Non-Randomized controlled trials (Non-RCTs) evaluating the effects of flipped learning for Korean nursing students were included. Standardized mean differences (SMDs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were calculated using a random-effects meta-analysis. The entire effect size in flipped learning was big in effect size (SMD = 1.21; 95% CI = 0.84 to 1.63; I2 = 93.9; n = 23) compared to the control groups. The analysis results of subgroups according to the classification of Bloom showed that flipped learning was found to have a significant effect on psychomotor domain, cognitive domain, and affective domain. A total of 10 literature analyses, this meta-analysis showed that flipped learning on Korean nursing students is effective in psychomotor, cognitive, and affective domain than the traditional teaching method. The flip learning can be integrated into theoretical and practical nursing education to improve the academic performance of nursing students.

  • Background: Despite increasing the number of newly licensed nurses across Korea, shortages caused by geographical imbalances remains a significant concern. Therefore, understanding nursing students' attitudes to working and living, factors influencing where they first choose to work after graduation is useful in formulating appropriate interventions to retain nurses in regional areas. Methods: A total of 329 senior nursing students from areas outside Metropolitan Seoul completed self-report questionnaires. Data were analyzed using t-test, chi-square test and multiple logistic regression analysis. Results: Of the respondents, 57.8% reported that they planned to work in the region in which their school was located. The three factors ranked as having the greatest influence on their decision to work in non-metropolitan regions were: the cost of living, housing costs, and the proximity to family. Enjoyable aspects of rural life contributed positively to students' intentions to work in non-metropolitan regions, whereas isolation and socialization problems negatively affected their intentions to work in such areas. Conclusions: Greater consideration should be given to improving working conditions and housing environments in non-metropolitan regions.

  • This study applied virtual reality to women health nursing practicum for nursing students and analyzed the educational effect on meta-cognition and critical thinking. The study design was a convergent mixed method using single-group pre-post test design and individual in-depth interviews. After applying the virtual reality program, the post-score (104.16±12.98) was statistically significantly higher than the pre-score (98.59±18.09) (t=1.85, p=.030). There was no statistically significant difference in critical thinking after the program, with the post-score of 101.66±7.18 and the pre-score of 99.18±15.13 (t=1.00, p=.108). Therefore, women health nursing practice education using virtual reality can help improve the meta-cognition of nursing students.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effects end-of-life care education using self-reflection diary on spirituality, death orientation, and attitudes toward nursing care of the dying patients in nursing students. This study adopted nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design and the subjects consisted of 69 in the experimental group and 68 in the control group. The education was performed for 100 minutes a session, once a week for 12 weeks. Data was collected using a structured questionnaire consisting of general characteristics, spirituality, death orientation, and attitudes toward nursing care of the dying patients. Collected data was analyzed for frequency, percentage, ${\chi}^2$ test, Fisher's exact test and t-test using SPSS/WIN 21.0 computed program. There were statistically significant differences in spirituality and attitudes toward nursing care of the dying patients between the experimental group and the control group. Regarding death orientation, our result showed no significant differences between two groups. These findings suggest that end-of-life care education using self-reflection diary was effective in enhancing the spirituality and attitudes toward nursing care of the dying patients in nursing students.

  • This study is a similar experimental study before and after non-equivalence control to examine the effect of fundamental nursing practice education applying reciprocal peer tutoring on confidence in performance, core nursing skills, and practice satisfaction of nursing students. Data collected by 83 people sophomore P university nursing students, the study period is from May 17 to 11 March 2019. As a results, the fundamental nursing practice education applied with the reciprocal peer tutoring method had an effect on the confidence in performance and core nursing skills of 'medium' degree of difficulty, and had a positive effect on the satisfaction of practice. In the future, this study suggests that the method of reciprocal peer teaching is extended to various practical majors and the effects of core nursing skills are tested.

  • This study was conducted to test whether the education program consisted with knowledge about professional care for elderly and content of elderly simulation experience to improve empathy had positive effects on attitude and intention to practicing nursing care toward elderly. According to the study results, It was appeared that the experimental group provided both knowledge and elderly simulation experience showed more positive attitude toward elderly(t=2.56, p=.026) and intention to practicing nursing care for elderly(t=6.73, p=.003), compared with the group provided knowledge only. However, after experiencing elderly simulation program, the attitude toward elderly(t=1.22, p=.170) and intention to practice nursing care for elderly(t=-0.08, p=.470) in experimental group improved very little or so, whereas the attitude toward elderly(t=-2.33, p=.012) and intention to practice nursing care for elderly(t=-1.08, p=.150) in comparison group became even worse.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the stress level and dietary and health-related habits, depression, eating disorder and nutrient intake according to the life stress level among nursing college students. The mean score for life stress was 61. A total of 282 subjects participated in the study and were divided into two group: high stress group(HS) and low stress group(LS). The data were analyzed with t- and $x^2$-test using the SPSS statistical package program. The scores for depression and eating disorder of HS were significantly higher than those of LS. HS were more frequent in skipping, overeating meals and having no exercise than LS. There was no difference in intake of nutrient, but in both group, intakes of vitamin $B_2$ and C, folate, calcium, iron and potassium were very deficient. Therefore, development of counseling and education program to decrease stress and to maintain health of nursing student is recommended.

  • This study was conducted to confirm the effect on self-efficacy and critical thinking disposition by applying flip learning class to fundamental nursing practice education for nursing students. The study subjects were 42 people in the experimental group and 40 people in the control group who were allowed to participate in the study. Data analysis was statistically processed using SPSS/WIN 24.0 program. As a result of this study, the self-efficacy score of the experimental group who received the flipped learning class increased significantly immediately after class (t=3.49, p=.001) compared to before class, and 10 weeks after class (t=-0.75, p=.456), the effect persisted. The critical thinking disposition score of the experimental group increased significantly immediately after class (t=3.49, p=.001) compared to before class, and the effect persisted 10 weeks after class (t=0.11, p=.913). However, there was no significant difference in the academic self-efficacy and critical thinking disposition scores of the control group who received lecture classes. In other words, it was confirmed from the results of this study that fundamental nursing practice classes applied with flip learning are effective in improving self-efficacy and critical thinking disposition of nursing students. Based on this study, it is suggested that the application of flip learning method should be expanded in the major subject of nursing science.
