Deep Learning-based SISR (Single Image Super Resolution) Method using RDB (Residual Dense Block) and Wavelet Prediction Network (RDB 및 웨이블릿 예측 네트워크 기반 단일 영상을 위한 심층 학습기반 초해상도 기법)

  • Single image Super-Resolution (SISR) aims to generate a visually pleasing high-resolution image from its degraded low-resolution measurement. In recent years, deep learning - based super - resolution methods have been actively researched and have shown more reliable and high performance. A typical method is WaveletSRNet, which restores high-resolution images through wavelet coefficient learning based on feature maps of images. However, there are two disadvantages in WaveletSRNet. One is a big processing time due to the complexity of the algorithm. The other is not to utilize feature maps efficiently when extracting input image's features. To improve this problems, we propose an efficient single image super resolution method, named RDB-WaveletSRNet. The proposed method uses the residual dense block to effectively extract low-resolution feature maps to improve single image super-resolution performance. We also adjust appropriated growth rates to solve complex computational problems. In addition, wavelet packet decomposition is used to obtain the wavelet coefficients according to the possibility of large scale ratio. In the experimental result on various images, we have proven that the proposed method has faster processing time and better image quality than the conventional methods. Experimental results have shown that the proposed method has better image quality by increasing 0.1813dB of PSNR and 1.17 times faster than the conventional method.

Evaluation of the DCT-PLS Method for Spatial Gap Filling of Gridded Data (격자자료 결측복원을 위한 DCT-PLS 기법의 활용성 평가)

  • Long time-series gridded data is crucial for the analyses of Earth environmental changes. Climate reanalysis and satellite images are now used as global-scale periodical and quantitative information for the atmosphere and land surface. This paper examines the feasibility of DCT-PLS (penalized least square regression based on discrete cosine transform) for the spatial gap filling of gridded data through the experiments for multiple variables. Because gap-free data is required for an objective comparison of original with gap-filled data, we used LDAPS (Local Data Assimilation and Prediction System) daily data and MODIS (Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer) monthly products. In the experiments for relative humidity, wind speed, LST (land surface temperature), and NDVI (normalized difference vegetation index), we made sure that randomly generated gaps were retrieved very similar to the original data. The correlation coefficients were over 0.95 for the four variables. Because the DCT-PLS method does not require ancillary data and can refer to both spatial and temporal information with a fast computation, it can be applied to operative systems for satellite data processing.

BOND STRENGTH OF BONDED AMALGAM USING DENIAL ADHESIVES (치과용 접착제를 사용한 접착 아말감의 결합 강도)

  • The purpose of this study was to measure and analyze the bond strength of bonded amalgam using dental adhesives and to compare this with light-curing composite resin. Sections 8mm in diameter were punched out from the labial surface of bovine anterior teeth. These were embedded in clear acrylic resin blocks with labial surface facing out. 55 specimens were made for enamel and dentin each. After dividing these into 5 groups, group 1: Superbond C&B, group 2: Panavia 21, group 3: All-Bond 2, group 4: Fuji I Glass Ionomer Luting Cement, group 5: Scotchbond Multi-Purpose(Restorative Z-100), molds with holes of 6.3mm in diameter and 1.5mm in depth were placed over the specimens. The exposed tooth surfaces were treated with adhesives and the molds were filled with amalgam. In group 5, the mold was filled with composite resin and light-cured for 40 seconds. The author measured all specimens for bond strength 24 hours after amalgam filing and analyzed fracture surfaces. The following results were obtained: 1. Among the dentin groups, groups 1, 2 and 4 showed significantly lower bond strength compared with group 5(P<0.05). 2. Among the enamel groups, group 4 showed significantly lower bond strength compared with group 5(P<0.05). 3. In group 2, 2D showed significantly lower bond strength compared with group 2E(P<0.05). Other adhesives showed no such differences in bond strength between dentin and enamel(P>0.05). 4. Cohesive failure was observed in groups 1E and 5D, while mixed failure was seen in groups 1 and 5. Only adhesive failures were noted in groups 2, 3, 4.

Retention of CAD/CAM Metal Copings Cemented on Short Titanium Abutments with Different Cements (짧은 티타늄 지대주에 합착된 CAD/CAM 금속 코핑의 시멘트 종류에 따른 유지력 비교)

  • State of problem: Cement-retained implant-supported prostheses are routinely used in dentistry. The use of high strength cements has become more popular with the increasing confidence in the stability of the implant-abutment screw connection and the high survival rates of osseointegrated implants. No clinical data on retention of metal copings using CAD/CAM. To evaluate retention of metal copings using CAD/CAM system bonded to short titanium abutment with four different cements and compare retentive strength of metal copings with sandblasting or without sandblasting before cementation. Forty titanium abutment blocks were fabricated and divided into 4 groups of 10 samples each. Forty metal copings with occlusal hole to allow for retention testing were fabricated using CAD/CAM technology. The four cements were Fujicem(Fuji, Japan), Maxcem Elite(Kerr, USA), Panavia F2.0(Kurarary, Japan) and Superbond C&B(Sunmedical, Japan). The copings were cemented on the titanium abutment according to manufacture's recommendation. All samples were stored for 24h at 37oC in 100% humidity and tested for retention using universal testing machine(Instron) at a crosshead speed of 1.0mm/min. Force at retentive failure was recorded in Newton. The mode of failure was also recorded. Means and standard deviations of loads at failure were analyzed using ANOVA and Paired t-test. Statistical significance was set at P<0.05. Panavia F2.0 provided significantly higher retentive strength than Fujicem, Maxcem Elite(P<0.05). Sandblasting significantly increased bond strength(P<0.05). The mode of failure was cement remaining principally on metal copings. Within the limitation of this study, Panavia F2.0 showed significantly stronger retentive strength than Fujicem, Maxcem Elite(p<0.05). The Ranking order of the cements to retain the copings was Panavia F2.0, Fujicem = Maxcem Elite. Sandblasting significantly increased bond strength(P<0.05). The retentive strength of metal copings on implant abutment were influenced by surface roughness and type of cements.
