  • In this paper, we propose a new clustered reconfigurable interconnect network (CRIN) BIST to improve the embedding probabilities of random-pattern-resistant-patterns. The proposed method uses a scan-cell reordering technique based on the signal probabilities of given test cubes and specific hardware blocks that increases the embedding probabilities of care bit clustered scan chain test cubes. We have developed a simulated annealing based algorithm that maximizes the embedding probabilities of scan chain test cubes to reorder scan cells, and an iterative algorithm for synthesizing the CRIN hardware. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed CRIN BIST technique achieves complete fault coverage with lower storage requirement and shorter testing time in comparison with the conventional methods.

  • This paper presents a new low power BIST TPG scheme. It uses a transition monitoring window (TMW) that is comprised of a transition monitoring window block and a MUX. When random test patterns are generated by an LFSR, transitions of those patterns satisfy pseudo-random gaussian distribution. The Proposed technique represses transitions of patterns using a k-value which is a standard that is obtained from the distribution of U to observe over transitive patterns causing high power dissipation in a scan chain. Experimental results show that the Proposed BIST TPG schemes can reduce scan transition by about $60\%$ without performance loss in ISCAS'89 benchmark circuits that have large number scan inputs.

  • This study investigates a failure mechanism of a tunnel shotcrete lining with respect to a concentrated load due to blocky rock mass. First of all, it is carried out to survey relevant researches to shotcrete failures by literature reviews and to numerically re-investigate the failure modes of shotcrete lining given by previous researches. Through this study, the failure modes are relocated with the conditions which induce each failure mode newly proposed by this study. In addition to this, the arching shape of tunnel lining, which has not been considered in the previous research despite of inherent geometrical characteristics in tunnels, is taken into consideration in numerical investigation on lining failure in this study. As a result, it is shown that more simplified failure modes can be found on the tunnel boundary condition and the corresponding failure condition to each mode can be different from ones of the previous study due to a tunnel arching effect.

  • A floating crane is a crane-mounted ship and is used to assemble or to transport heavy blocks in shipyards. In this paper, the static and dynamic response of a floating crane and a heavy block that are connected using elastic booms and wire ropes are described. The static and dynamic equations of surge, pitch, and heave for the system are derived on the basis of flexible multibody system dynamics. The equations of motion are fully coupled and highly nonlinear since they involve nonlinear mass matrices, elastic stiffness matrices, quadratic velocity vectors, and generalized external forces. A floating frame of reference and nodal coordinates are employed to model the boom as a flexible body. The nonlinear hydrostatic force, linear hydrodynamic force, wire-rope force, and mooring force are considered as the external forces. For numerical analysis, the Hilber-Hughes-Taylor method for implicit integration is used. The dynamic responses of the cargo are analyzed with respect to the results obtained by static and numerical analyses.

  • Because of the lack of translation invariance of wavelet basis, traditional wavelet thresholding denoising leads to pseudo-Gibbs phenomena in the vicinity of discontinuities of signal. In this paper, in order to reduce the pseudo-Gibbs phenomena, wavelet coefficients are thresholded and reconstruction algorithm is implemented through minimizing the total variation of denoising signal using subgradient descent algorithm. Most of experiments were performed under the non-real-time and real-time environments. In the case of non-real-time experiments, the algorithm that this paper proposes was found more effective than that of wavelet hard thresholding denoising by 2.794㏈(SNR) based on the signal to noise ratio. And lots of pseudo-Gibbs phenomena was removed visually in the vicinity of discontinuities. In the case of real-time experiments, the number of iteration was restricted to 60 times considering the performance time. It took 0.49 seconds and most of the pseudo-Gibbs phenomena were also removed.

  • In this paper, we combine AMC (Adaptive Modulation and Coding) with MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) multiplexing to improve the throughput performance of AMC in Next Generation Communication Mobile Systems. In addition, we propose a system that adopts STD (Selection Transmit Diversity) in the combined system. The received SNR (Signal to Noise Ratio) is improved by adopting STD techniques and an improved SNR increases a probability of selecting MCS (Modulation and Coding Scheme) level that supports higher data rate. The computer simulation is performed in flat Rayleigh fading channel. The results show that higher throughput is achieved by AMC-TD schemes. AMC-STTD scheme shows about 250kbps increase in throughput. And AMC-STD with 2 transmit antennas achieves about 420 kbps throughput improvement over the conventional AMC at 9dB SNR.

  • To evaluate the performance of a system, one-dimensional 3-neighborhood cellular automata(CA) based pseudo-random generators are widely used in many fields. Although two-dimensional CA and one-dimensional 5-neighborhood CA have been applied for more effective key sequence generation, designing symmetric one-dimensional 5-neighborhood CA corresponding to a given primitive polynomial is a very challenging problem. To solve this problem, studies on one-dimensional 5-neighborhood CA synthesis, such as synthesis method using recurrence relation of characteristic polynomials and synthesis method using Krylov matrix, were conducted. However, there was still a problem with solving nonlinear equations. To solve this problem, a symmetric one-dimensional 5-neighborhood CA synthesis method using a transition matrix of 90/150 CA and a block matrix has recently been proposed. In this paper, we detail the theoretical process of the proposed algorithm and use it to obtain symmetric one-dimensional 5-neighborhood CA corresponding to high-order primitive polynomials.

  • This study is to find ways to self-produce energy even in buildings through the system of trees that grow by themselves focused on literatures and case studies. It is divided into the structure, circulation and reaction system of tree. 1) In the structural system, the tree is divided into the shoot and root system, and maintains rigidity with the cell membranes. The wind resistance caused by the trunk and crown can be applied to the seismic structure principle of building, and the role of platelike buttresses of lateral roots can be applied to the horizontal truss and suspension bridge. 2) In the circulation system, the transpiration action through the fine stomata of the leaves can be a very effective cooling means because a large amount of heat is released and this method can be directly introduced into the cooling of buildings. 3) In the responsive system, the response system according to environmental changes that can be read from the leaves and flowers of trees can be applied to the roof and exterior design of buildings through the use of new sensing technologies and materials.

  • In this study nonlinear dynamic behaviors of towed tow-tension cables are numerically analysed. In the case of a taut cable analysis, a bending stiffness term is usually neglected due to its minor effect but it plays an important role in a low-tension cable analysis. A low-tension cable may experience large displacements due to relatively small restoring forces and thus the effects of fluid and geometric non-linearities become predominant. The bending stiffness and non-linearity effects are considered in this work. In order to obtain dynamic behaviors of a towed low-tension cable, three-dimensional nonlinear dynamic equation is described and discretized by employing a finite difference method. An implicit method and Newton-Raphson iteration are adopted for the time integration and nonlinear solutions. For the calculation of huge size of matrices. block tri-diagonal matrix method is applied, which is much faster than the well-known Gauss-Jordan method in two point boundary value problems. Some case studies are carried out and the results of numerical simulations are compared with those of a in-house program of WHOI Cable with good agreements.

  • The use of thin plate increases due to the need for light weight in large ship. Thin plate is easily distorted and has residual stress by welding heat. Therefore, the thin plate should be carefully joined to minimize the welding deformation which costs time and money for repair. For one effort to reduce welding deformation, it is very useful to predict welding deformation before welding execution. There are two methods to analyze welding deformation. One is simple linear analysis. The other is nonlinear analysis. The simple linear analysis is elastic analysis using the equivalent load method or inherent strain method from welding experiments. The nonlinear analysis is thermo-elastic analysis which gives consideration to the nonlinearity of material dependent on temperature and time, welding current, voltage, speed, sequence and constraint. In this study, the welding deformation is analyzed by using thermo-elastic method for PCTC(Pure Car and Truck Carrier) which carries cars and trucks. PCTC uses thin plates of 6mm thickness which is susceptible to welding heat. The analysis dimension is 19,200mm(length) * 13,825mm(width) * 376mm(height). MARC and MENTAT are used as pre and post processor and solver. The boundary conditions are based on the real situation in shipyard. The simulations contain convection and gravity. The material of the thin block is mild steel with $235N/mm^2$ yield strength. Its nonlinearity of conductivity, specific heat, Young's modulus and yield strength is applied in simulations. Welding is done in two pass. First pass lasts 2,100 second, then it rests for 900 second, then second pass lasts 2,100 second and then it rests for 20,000 second. The displacement at 0 sec is caused by its own weight. It is maximum 19mm at the free side. The welding line expands, shrinks during welding and finally experiences shrinkage. It results in angular distortion of thin block. Final maximum displacement, 17mm occurs around welding line. The maximum residual stress happens at the welding line, where the stress is above the yield strength. Also, the maximum equivalent plastic strain occurs at the welding line. The plastic strain of first pass is more than that of second pass. The flatness of plate in longitudinal direction is calculated in parallel with the direction of girder and compared with deformation standard of ${\pm}15mm$. Calculated value is within the standard range. The flatness of plate in transverse direction is calculated in perpendicular to the direction of girder and compared with deformation standard of ${\pm}6mm$. It satisfies the standard. Buckle of plate is calculated between each longitudinal and compared with the deformation standard. All buckle value is within the standard range of ${\pm}6mm$.
