Development of the CFRP Automobile Parts Using the Joint Structure of the Dissimilar Material (결합부 강화구조용 탄소복합재 자동차 부품 개발)

  • In this study, the development purpose is to replace steel Tie Rod of commercial vehicle to the carbon composite by a braiding process. CFRP tie rod was designed to meet the performance requirements of existing products by designing the cross section of the core for braiding weaving and the structural design of the joint between the core and the carbon fiber. The specimens were fabricated by braiding method and applied to structural analysis through test evaluation. The manufacturing process proceeded from braiding to infusion through post-curing process. The test evaluation of the final product was satisfactorily carried out by sequentially performing tensile test, torsion test, compression test and fatigue test. In addition, the weight of CFRP tie rod could be reduced by about 37% compared to existing products.

  • 본 연구에서는 3차원 브레이딩 기계를 이용하여 제작된 6 layer의 3차원 원형 형태로 브레이드된 유리 섬유 강화 복합재료의 프리프레그를 이용하여 에폭시 수지를 모체로 하는 RTM(Resin Transfer Molding) 공정을 통해 직교 이방성 복합재료를 제작하였다. 또한 탄성한계 내에서의 구성방정식을 얻기 위해 unit cell 모델링을 통해 복합재료의 기하를 모사하고 method of cells 이론과 homogenization technique를 이용하여 복합재료의 구성방정식을 나타내는 수치해석 코드를 개발하였다.   • To develop an effective geometric modeling is essential in order that precise material properties of the 3-D braided composite can be estimated. in this study RVE(representative volume element) which is the smallest volume element representing whole material properties is developed to estimate the mechanical properties of 3-D flat board shaped braided composite using volume averaging method.

  • To develop an effective geometric modeling is essential in order that precise mechanical properties and the geometrical properties of the 3-D braided composites can be estimated. RVE(representative volume element) was adopted fur geometrical modeling. RVE consisted of IC(inner unit cell), ISUC(interior surface unit cell) and ESUC(exterior surface unit cell). The whole geometrical model fur hybrid 3-D braided composites was developed.

  • The use of composites is increasing for lightweight aerospace structures. Among these structures, the ring frame and the parts of the projectile body are mainly made of a fiber reinforced composite material which is less susceptible such as delamination to structural damage. As the use of fiber reinforced composites increases, interest in modeling efficient methods of stiffness and strength is increasing. This paper predict the mechanical strength according to the repeating unit cell(RUC) of the 2-D triaxial braided composites of fiber reinforced composites. Yarn slice definition, incremental approach and stiffness reduction model were used as strength prediction. Finally, the results of strength prediction are verified by comparing with experimental data of 2-D triaxial braided composites specimens.

  • This paper describes the need for a ductile Fiber Reinforced Plastic(FRP) reinforcement for concrete structures. Using the material hybrid and geometric hybrid. it is demonstrated that the pseudo-ductility characteristic can be generated in FRP rebar. Ductile hybrid FRP bars were successfully fabricated at 4mm and 10mm nominal diameters using an hand lay up method. Tensile specimens from these bars were tested and compared with behavior of FRP rebar and steel bar

  • This study surveys the optimum processing conditions of ATY for PET braiding for automotive hoses. For this purpose, high tenacity and low shrinkable PET filaments with three types of deniers are prepared. Twenty seven ATY specimens are manufactured with variation of feed speed and overfeed on the air jet texturing machine. The physical properties of various yam according to the ATY processing conditions are measured and analysed for deciding the optimum ATY processing condition. Two kinds of ATY filaments made under the optimum air texturing conditions are processed with variation of tpm, heat setting temperature and heat setting time on the 2-for-l twister and setting chamber, respectively. The optimum twisting and heat setting conditions are decided through analysis of the yam physical properties. Finally, the braiding fabric specimens are manufactured using conventional filament and newly developed filament made under optimum twisting and heat setting conditions. The bursting strengths of these braiding specimens are compared and discussed between two types of specimens.

  • Using conventional textile techniques such as weaving braiding knitting and stitching it is possible to produce a wide range two and three dimensional fiber preforms, however so far only a limited attention has been given to knitted fabrics in composite industry. This is mainly due to the opinion that knitted fabric reinforced composites posses low mechanical properties owing to their looped fiber architecture. But it is possible to obtain desired mechanical properties by selecting proper knitted fabric structure, In this paper mechanical characteristics of kevlar plain weft knitted fabrics reinforced plastics(KFRP) are evaluated for th development of intrusion beam of car side door. Tensile bending impact properties of KFRP are measured experimentally and crush demands of Americal Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No.214(FMVSS 214) compared with the bending load and displacement of KFRP by quasi-static test method. The applicability and limitation of bending load and displacement of KFRP according to specimen size has been discussed.
