The Effect of Child's Mother and Nurse Partnership on the Anxiety and Perceived Quality of Nursing Care of Hospitalized Child's Mother (일 종합병원 아동병동의 환아 어머니와 간호사의 파트너십이 환아 어머니의 불안과 간호의 질 인식에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was conducted to investigate child's mother and nurse partnership, anxiety, and quality of pediatric nursing care, and to identify factors influencing anxiety and quality of pediatric nursing care of the hospitalized child's mother. A descriptive survey was conducted from September 21 to October 4, 2015. Data were collected using a self-reporting questionnaire of 140 the mothers of a hospitalized child in a general hospital. Completed data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, and multiple regression analysis by IBM SPSS 18.0. The results showed that the frequency of hospitalization, genito-urinary disease, other diseases, and child's mother and nurse partnership significantly influenced anxiety. Additionally, the frequency of hospitalization, genito-urinary disease, other diseases, and child's mother and nurse partnership significantly influenced the quality of pediatric nursing care. Based on these results, child's mother and nurse partnership had a significant predictor of the anxiety and the quality of pediatric nursing care. These finding showed that there was a need to develop educational and supportive strategies to enhance and improve the partnership between hospitalized child's mother and nurse to ensure qualified pediatric nursing care.

Factors Influencing in the Infection Control Performance of COVID-19 in Nurses (간호사의 COVID-19에 대한 감염관리 수행도에 영향을 미치는 요인)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the factors influencing in the infection control performance of coronavirus infection disease-19 in registered nurse. Data were collected using descriptive structured questionnaires to examine the factors of influencing in the infection control performance. General characteristics, knowledge of infection control, anxiety, fatigue, and coronavirus infection-19 (COVID-19) respiratory infection management performance were identified from structured questionnaire. Data were analyzed using independent t-test, ANOVA, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis were performed using the IBM SPSS 21.0 program. Anxiety and respiratory infection management performance was a negative correlation. Multiple regression analysis indicated anxiety was predicted component of performance of coronavirus infection-19 respiratory infection management. The results indicate a need to decrease degree of anxiety by developing educational programs to improve nurses' ability to manage coronavirus infection-19 respiratory infections. In addition, it is necessary to consider applying a role-play or simulation education method so that registered nurse can take care of patients with emerging infectious diseases in advance.

Relationship of Anxiety, Empathy, Ego-resilience and Clinical Competency in Nursing Students (간호대학생의 불안, 공감능력, 자아탄력성과 임상수행능력과의 관계)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the levels of anxiety, empathy, ego-resilience, and clinical competency of nursing students, and to examine the relationship of the variables. The participants were 197 nursing students. Data were collected from December 3 to 15, 2017 by taking a survey and analyzed with SPSS WIN 19.0 program(SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL, USA). The results of this study were as follows: The mean score of anxiety was $2.16{\pm}.51$, empathy was $3.51{\pm}.36$, ego-resilience was $2.83{\pm}.44$, and clinical competency was $3.65{\pm}.48$. There was significant differences in clinical competency by satisfaction with major, satisfaction with clinical practice. There were a negative correlation between clinical competency and anxiety(r=-.37, p<.001), a positive correlation between clinical competency and empathy(r=.34, p<.001) and a positive correlation between clinical competency and ego-resilience(r=.49, p<.001). Variables such as ego-resilience, empathy, anxiety, satisfaction with major and satisfaction with clinical practice explained 35.6% of variance in clinical competency. According to these result, there is a need to develop interventions and programs to increase the ego-resilience and empathy and to reduce the anxiety for improving clinical competency in nursing students.

The Relationship between Gerotranscendence, Family Support, Social Support, Self-esteem, and Fear of Death in Elders for Promotion of Life Care (라이프케어 증진을 위한 노년기의 노년초월, 가족지지, 사회적지지, 자아존중감, 죽음불안과의 관계)

  • This study is a descriptive study to dentify gerotranscendence, family support, social support, self-esteem, and degree of fear of death and the relationship between old age. Through this study, it provide basic data that can help target elderly people do better in their later years. From June 2018 to October 2018, residents' self-governing centers, senior citizens' centers, and life-long education centers were visited to explain the purpose of the research, and those who voluntarily agreed to the research were selected. The following results were obtained by surveying 50 adults aged 60 or older in Seoul using structured questionnaire. The difference in the level of gerotranscendence, family support, social support, self-esteem, and fear of death according to the general characteristics of the target was analyzed as t-test and ANOVA. The correlation of gerotranscendence, family support, social support, self-esteem, and fear of death in early years of life was analyzed as Pearson correlation coefficient. Among the common traits, age was related to social support and death anxiety, marital status was related to family support, and life satisfaction was related to family support. There was a correlation between old age and fear of death, a correlation between family support and self-esteem, and social support related to self-esteem and fear of death. In conclusion, this study found that early retirement in the old age was associated with fear of death, and it was found that family support in the old age affected self-esteem and satisfaction in life. Future studies need to be conducted on groups of adults in the later years, including the degree of elderly age, satisfaction with living, and relationship between the elderly and the elderly.

Nursing Students' Clinical Competence and Decision-Making: Impact of a Multiple-components Practice-based Learning (간호학생의 임상수행능력과 임상의사결정: 다중요소 실습기반교육의 효과)

  • This study is a one-group pre-post experimental design that investigates the effects of a practice-based learning program with multiple components on the clinical competence of nursing students, and clinical decision-making. From May 4 to 29, 2020, a total of 60 third-year nursing students with no clinical practice experience were divided into two teams and participated in multi-component practice-based education for two weeks each, and the data of the final 51 students were included in the analysis. Following the practicum, there was a significant increase in clinical competence (t=-4.74, p<.001) and self-confidence in clinical decision-making (t=-8.41, p<.001), and a decrease in anxiety related to clinical decision-making (t=2.54, p=.014). The findings suggest that a multi-component, practice-based learning approach for nursing students can enhance their clinical competence, reduce preclincal anxiety and increase confidence in clinical decision-making in patient care.

The Effectiveness of Child Nursing Simulation Using Standardized Patient on Nursing Student's Anxiety, self-efficacy and Critical Thinking Disposition (표준화환자를 활용한 아동간호 시뮬레이션이 간호학생의 불안, 자기효능감 및 비판적사고 성향에 미치는 효과)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effects of child nursing simulation using standardized patient on nursing student's anxiety, self-efficacy, and critical thinking disposition. A one group pre test-post test design was used. The subjects of the study were 62 students in the nursing department and 4th year students at the university in C city. The hospitalized child nursing simulation was conducted for approximately 3.5 hours, including 60 minutes of pre-study and orientation, 60-80 minutes of hands-on scenarios, and 30 minutes of reflection diary writing and debriefing. The data collection was conducted from March to December 2016. Statistical analyses of the collected data were conducted, including t-tests, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and Cronbach's ${\alpha}$. Analyses were conducted using SPSS 21.0. The results of the study showed that anxiety (p <.001) was significantly lower and self-efficacy (p<.001) and critical thinking disposition (p<.001) were higher. Therefore, we propose that various scenarios for simulation practice that utilize standardized patients to enhance core nursing abilities be developed.
