Effect of Auriculotemporal Nerve Block Anesthesia on Manual Reduction of Disc Displacement without Reduction of the Temporomandibular Joint (악관절의 비정복성관절원판변위의 수조작 정복에 대한 이개측두신경 전달마취의 효과)

  • Aim: Disc displacement without reduction of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) has been managed by mandibular manipulation to reduce the displaced disc but with a low success rate. The purpose of this study was to determine whether auriculotemporal nerve block anesthesia had an effect on the reduction of the displaced disc and to analyze the factors that influenced the result. Methods: 112 patients were diagnosed with disc displacement without reduction and treated by mandibular manipulation. Disc was recaptured in 35 patients. Among the 77 patients with whom disc recapture had failed, the auriculotemporal nerve was blocked with a local anesthetic in the 49 patients (mean $age \;{\pm}\; SD\; =\; 34.4\;{\pm}\; 15.1$; male 24, female 25) and then mandibular manipulation was performed again. Factors including age, elapsed time from the onset, and opening amount were analyzed in association with disc reduction rate with the auriculotemporal nerve block. Results: Among 49 patients who did not respond to manipulation only, manual reduction with auriculotemporal nerve block anesthesia was successful in 19 patients (38.8%). Maximum unassisted opening amount significantly increased in the 19 patients with successful recapture of the disc ($mean \;{\pm}\; SD\; =\; 46.1 \;{\pm}\; 4.5\; mm$), in contrast to the limited opening amount of the 49 patients before local anesthesia of the auriculotemporal nerve ($mean \;{\pm}\; SD\; =\; 25.7 \;{\pm}\; 6.0\; mm$). Age, elapsed time after the onset, and preoperative opening amount were not associated with the reduction rate. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that auriculotemporal nerve block anesthesia increases the reduction rate of the disc displacement without reduction of the TMJ when combined with mandibular manipulation, and such anesthesia should be applied at the first stage of manual treatment of disc displacement without reduction.

Fourth, the company to inform people both inside and outside of the organization to communicate actively to change the image of the company activities, the creation of corporate performance is very important to figure. Reflects the latest trend to actively use social media to communicate the effort is needed. For development of systematic collaboration promoting model steps to meet the organizational role. First, the Chief Executive Officer to make a firm and clear vision of the organization members to propagate the faith, empathy gives a sense of belonging should be able to have. Second, middle managers, CEO's vision is to systematically propagate the organizers rules and principles to establish a system would create. Third, general operatives internalize the vision of the company stating that the role of outside companies must adhere. The purpose of this study was well done in collaboration organizations promoting factors for strategic alignment model based on the golden circle and collaboration to understand and reflect the latest trends in information technology tools to take advantage of smart work and business know how student teams through case analysis will derive the success factors. This is the foundation for future empirical studies are expected to be present.

The Relationship between Entrepreneurship, Strategic Orientation, and Socio-Economic Values: Focusing on Companies Certified as Sixth Industrialization Enterprises (기업가정신, 전략적지향성과 경제적·사회적 가치 간 관계연구: 6차산업화 인증기업을 중심으로)

  • The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries prepared the sixth industrialization certification system to increase the added value in the agricultural sector, but it is a bit hard to judge that the system has been in the stage of creating sufficient added value. In particular, because of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, there is a significant change in all industry sectors, including innovation in technology, and the change of perception among the society members is being rapidly changed toward the corporate sector's social role. Thus, we surveyed companies that received the sixth industrialization enterprise certificate to address this phenomenon and find clues on how to be competitive. We selected 800 companies certified by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries as sixth industrialization enterprises as our study samples. Among them, we subjected 275 respondents to a final analysis upon eliminating incomplete responses. The result of the study revealed that entrepreneurship, including autonomy that reflects the characteristics of the certified companies, had a significant positive impact on economic value. Moreover, with the size of the companies certified as the sixth industrialization enterprise and the industry trend toward the innovative Fourth Industrial Revolution considered, the strategic orientation including the customer orientation to intensively focus on customer needs and the technology orientation to accept technology as a competitive sector even in the agricultural industry was found to have a significant positive effect on economic value. Strategic orientation demonstrated a significant positive effect on social value. Entrepreneurship demonstrated a significant positive effect on economic values but did not significantly affect the social value. Lastly, while strategic orientation has demonstrated that no mediation effect resulted due to a high direct effect between entrepreneurship and economic value, a complete mediation effect occurred between entrepreneurship and social value. Based on this study, if the companies that received the sixth industrialization enterprise certificate are equipped with not only entrepreneurship but also strategic orientation for customer-oriented thinking and response to technological changes, they can become an influential element in creating not only economic value but also social value, which is emphasized as an element of sustainability.

Clinical significance of matrix metalloproteinase 9 and tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase 1 and 2 in Kawasaki disease (가와사끼병에서 Matrix metalloproteinase 9과 Tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase 1, 2의 임상적 중요성)

  • Purpose : Kawasaki disease (KD) is a systemic vasculitis, a leading cause of pediatric acquired heart disease. Histopathological findings of coronary artery lesion (CAL) in KD indicate destruction of the coronary artery wall with diffuse vasculitis. Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) and their endogenous tissue inhibitors (TIMPs) might play central roles in this process. Special attention to MMP-9 has recently been emerging. This study was performed to investigate the clinical significance of MMP-9 and its inhibitors, TIMP-1 and TIMP-2, in KD. Methods : We compared 47 KD patients with 14 febrile controls. Serum MMP-9 and TIMP-1, TIMP-2 were measured by ELISA and compared according to clinical stages and coronary involvement. Results : In acute stage, MMP-9 and TIMP-1 were significantly higher, whereas TIMP-2 was lower, in KD than those in febrile controls ($P$<0.05). The elevated MMP-9 levels in acute phase significantly decreased during the subacute and convalescent phases ($P$<0.05). During acute phase, the MMP-9, TIMP-1, and MMP-9/TIMP-2 levels in the CAL group were lower than those in the non-CAL group, but they increased significantly in the subacute phase ($P$<0.05). MMP-9 has a positive correlation with TIMP-1 in the acute and subacute phases, and negative correlation with TIMP-2 in the subacute and convalescent phases ($P$<0.05). Conclusion : These results suggest that MMP-9, TIMP-1, and the imbalance in MMP-9 and TIMP-2 might play important roles on the pathophysiology of KD and especially on the development of CAL. However, further larger studies are needed.

A review of the contents about childhood health care in middle & high school textbooks (중·고등학교 교과서에 실린 소아 관련 정보의 조사)

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study is to investigate the material in middle school and high school textbooks covering child care and children's health for medically inaccurate content and to make sure that the correct information is given to students. Methods : We have examined 47 kinds of textbooks on the subjects 'Home economics' and 'Technology and home economics' published in 2007 to find out how much importance is placed on children's health and childcare and to search for incorrect definitions, inaccurate facts or insufficient explanations. We have also analyzed the credentials of the writers of these textbooks. Results : Textbooks of middle school cover psychological and physical changes during adolescence and nutrition, and those of high school cover marriage and childcare. These materials covering health made up 27.5%, 11.7% of middle & high school texts. Age definitions of neonate and infant were incorrect. Inaccurate facts were mostly about fontanelles, primitive reflexes, breastfeeding and weaning. There also were wrong informations on the umbilical cord care and developmental milestones during infancy. The childhood immunization schedules and the growth curves were not up to date. Most of the authors major in home economics and the others were school teachers. There was no evidence of any review by a medical society or an expert. Conclusions : When writing about children's health and childcare in textbooks, a board-certified pediatrician or The Korean Pediatric Society should be consulted to provide accurate medical information to middle and high school students.

Effects of Membrane-filtered Powder of Sunmul on the Quality Characteristics of Noodles (막분리한 순물의 농축분말 첨가가 국수의 품질에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the quality characteristics of noodles prepared with the addition of nanofiltered (NF) powder of sunmul. Noodles were prepared with different levels $(0\%,\;1.5\%,\;3\%\;and\;5\%,\;w/w)$ of NF powder and physico-chemical properties were examined. Results of rapid visco analyzer showed that peak, trough, final viscosity and set back decreased as the NF powder level increased. The weight and volume of cooked noodles increased with the addition of NF powder. Turbidity of soup also increased as the amount of NF powder increased, indicating higher cooking loss. The color of wet and cooked noodles became greenish yellow as the NF powder level increased. Hardness, springiness, gumminess and brittleness of cooked noodles decreased with the increasing amount of NF powder. Results of sensory evaluation showed that noodles prepared with up to $3\%$ addition of NF powder was considered to be as acceptable as noodles prepared without NF powder.

  • Microbial contamination levels and legal preservative appropriation in child foods sampled from the neighborhood of elementary schools were investigated. Contamination levels of total aerobic bacteria in seasoned dried fish slices, bread and snacks, sausages, sugar products and dumplings were $1.70\~6.91,\;1.40\~6.66$, 4.50, $3.48\~5.88$, and $4.79\~4.82\;log_{10}$ CFU/g, respectively. Coliforms in four kinds of foods except for dumplings were $2.30\~6.60,\;4.22\~~5.98$, 2.00, and $2.78\;log_{10}$ CFU/g, respectively. Yeasts and molds in those foods were $0.10\~4.23,\;1.66\~4.91,\;1.46\~1.91,\;1.56\~4.26$, and $1.12\~1.84\;log_{10}$ CFU/g, respectively. S. aureus was isolated in $18\%$ of seasoned dried fish slices ($1.00\~2.84\;log_{10}$ CFU/g), $33\%$ of bread and snacks ($1.70\~1.79\;log_{10}$ CFU/g), $50\%$ of sausages ($3.28\;log_{10}$ CFU/g), $22\%$ of sugar products ($2.16\~2.88\;log_{10}$ CFU/g), and $100\%$ of dumplings $(1.18\~3.31\;log_{10}\;CFU/g)$ B. cereus was isolated in $21\%$ of seasoned dried fish slices $(0.70\~2.48\;log_{10}\;CFU/g)$, $50\%$ of bread and snacks $(0.70\;log_{10}\;CFU/g)$, and $11\%$ of sugar products $(0.30\;log_{10}\;CFU/g)$. Both E. coli and Salmonella spp. were not isolated in all samples. Preservative was only labeled on four products among 15 products but preservative on 13 products including 4 products haying an indication of preservative were not detected. Moreover, $0.30\%$ of sorbic acid was detected in one of Squid products . The results of this study indicated that the hygienic level of child foods in Gyeonggi and Incheon was very poor and need to be improved.

Application Study of $CO_2$ Snow Cleaning for Cleaning of Foreign Matter and Corrosion Products on Iron Artifacts ($CO_2$ Snow Cleaning 적용 철제유물 표면 이물질 제거 연구)

  • Cleaning of foreign matter and corrosion products on surface among conservation treatment of iron artifacts is an important part for looking up a original form. The sand blaster is the most popular equipment when it removes the foreign matter and corrosion products on iron artifacts surface. Current foreign matter and corrosion products equipment, which mostly uses, is sand blaster. Glass dust which sprayed from sand blaster is harmful and causing environmental pollution. In order to solve these problems, we investigated the $CO_2$ snow cleaning that use a eco-friendly equipment to apply for cleaning foreign matter and corrosion products on surface of iron artifacts. It examined by using sand blaster and $CO_2$ snow cleaning to aged steel coupon and iron artifacts. In case of aged steel coupon, the result showed that the sand blaster and $CO_2$ snow cleaning methods were similar to the degrees of cleaning foreign matter and corrosion products, through surface roughness, color measurement and SEM. $CO_2$ snow cleaning applied to aged steel coupons weren't worn out the surface in comparison with sand blaster by SEM. When applied to the iron artifacts, power nozzle of the $CO_2$ snow cleaning was an excellent cleaning effect that surface wern't worn out in comparison with sand blaster. And, it showed that internal structure change of metal was no found before and after cleaning by X-ray radiography. Consequently, we confirmed that cleaning of the sand blaster and power nozzle of $CO_2$ snow cleaning were similar to the effect. But, it's very careful to use this method because of high outlet pressure of power nozzle for applying to the iron artifacts. As a result of experiments, it could be found that the cleaning methods should be selected depending on internal state of the artifacts.

Restoration and Scientific Analysis of Casting Bronze Type in Joseon Dynasty (조선왕실 주조 청동활자의 복원과 과학적 분석)

  • After replicating 10 bronze types such as Gyemija, Gyeongjaja, Eulhaeja, etc. before the Imjin war, we studied the change of microstructure from each casting process, method, and alloy ratio by Gyechukja replicated from "Donggukyeojiseungnam". We selected the average of compositions of Eulhaeja in the National Museum of Korea as the standard(Cu 86.7%, Sn: 9.7%, Pb: 2.3%) of bronze types, so we decided on the alloy's composition of Cu 87%, Sn 15%, Pb 8% added to 5% Sn and Pb contents because of evaporating the Sn and the Pb. Before replicating major metal types, we made master-alloy first, melting it again, and then replicated metal types. The composition of the 1'st replicated Gyechukja showed the range of Cu 85.81~87.63%, Sn 9.27~10.51%, Pb 3.05~3.19%. The 2'nd replicated Gyechukja made using the branch metal left after casting the 1st replica. The 2nd replicated Gyechukja showed the composition range of Cu 87.21~88.09%, Sn 9.06~9.36%, Pb 2.80~3.05%. This result decreases a little contents of Sn and Pb as compared with metal types of the 1st replica. However, it's almost the same as the Eulhaeja's average composition ratio in the National Museum of Korea. As a result of observing the microstructure of restored Gyechukja, it showed the dendrite structure of the typical casting structure and the segregation of Pb. There is no big difference of microstructure between the 1st and the 2nd restored metal types, even though the 2nd restored types partially decreases the eutectoid region in comparison with the 1st types. The systematic and scientific restoration experiment of metal types using Joseon period will be showed the casting method and alloy ratio, and this will be of great help to the study of restoration metal types in the future.

Effects of Submergency due to Heavy Rains on the Yield of Paddy (수도의 관수피해에 관한 조사연구)

  • There was a concentrated heavy rain resulted in 450mm of precipitation from Aug. 18 and 19, 1972. Almost all the paddy grown in the main plain areas of KimPo, Bu Cheon and Pyong Taek(N. L. $37^{\circ}$00'98'$-37^{\circ}$30'56", Long. $126^{\circ}$45'99"$-127^{\circ}$55'92"E) have been damaged of submergency. The effects of the different degrees of submergency in different growth stages of paddy, on the yield of paddy, rates of fertilization, maturity and degree of heading have been observed, and may be summarized as follows. (1) When the paddy was damaged due to submergency at the heading stage, a) on the basis of normal paddy, the yield of paddy may be expected about 67,57,40,9 and 6% with the submerged periods of 0.5, 1. 0, 2.0, 3.0 and 4.0 days, respectively, and a significant-negative correlation was found between the periods of submergency and the yields. b) As in the yield of paddy, rapid decreases in the rates of fertilizations and maturities of paddy were found as the submerged periods are increased. When the submerged periods are 0.5, 1.0, 2.0, 3.0 and 4.0 days, the corresponding rates of fertilizations and maturities observed are 89 and 88,83 and 78,52 and 40,24 and 19, and 12 and 9%, respectively, showing significant negrative correlations. c) Considerable decreases of the degree of heading were found as the submerged periods are increased. resulted in a significant negative correlation at 1% level between the degree of heading and submerged periods. (2) When the paddy plants were under submergency just before heading, the damage was found to be less than that at heading stage. The yields were 86,82,60,36 and 10%, as compared with the normal yield, with 0.5, 1.0, 2.0, 3.0 and 4.0 days of the submerged periods. (3) When the paddy was under the submergency at the mid-stage of head sprouting, its damage was severer than that of just before heading stage. The yields of paddy under the different submerged periods, 0.5, 1.0, 2.0, 3.0 and 4.0 days, were 79, 64, 34 and 6%, respectively, of the normal yields. normal yields.
