This study is to suggest landform and environmental problems of border region of N. Korea and China by analyzing results of field work for the Dumangang and the Amnokgang from year 2000 up to year 2016. By the social system in North korea, access of study material is possible with satellite image and published statistical data, but impossible direct data collection. We gathered field work data on landform and environment in border Region of N. Korea and China. Before field survey, we analysed geometrical landform and geology using DEM and digital geology map. We analyzed landform and environmental problems occurring in upper, midstream, and downstream region of the Dumangang and the Amnokgang using field work data. Resultingly, this study will be expected to support as basic data for resonable management on natural resources and empirical research activities on North Korea.

This study is about the actual condition of forest devastation in North Korea and the cooperative plan between South and North Korea for the restoration. In other words, it aims to derive policy implications for 'forest restoration' from the phenomenon of severe forest devastation in North Korea. It is because forest devastation in North Korea causes floods, droughts, and soil losses on the Korean Peninsula, adding to food shortages, and assuming that the future unification of the two Koreas, the cost of forest restoration in North Korea will increase environmentally and economically. Therefore, this study derives policy implications by examining the causes and conditions of forest devastation in North Korea and comparing the differences and commonalities of forest policies in South and North Korea through analysis of forest policy strategies in North Korea.

In recent days North Korean refugees. who hope to move into and settle in South Korea, have been rapidly increasing. However their adaptation to South Korea is reported to have not been so much successful as they expected. Considering such situations, this study attempts to investigate their information needs and behavior. North Korean refugees have various and strong information needs for settlement and daily life. The strongest were information needs related to economic Problem, specifically job and business related information needs. It was followed by information needs related to social welfare, health and security child care and education, and North Korean situation In order to meet their information needs. North Korean refugees were heavily dependent on informal interpersonal information sources such as their family members. friends. and their own neighborhoods. as compared to such formal interpersonal information sources as Public officers. social welfare agents, and NGOs members. Meanwhile. their usage of mass media such as TV. newspapers, and internet as information sources was also heavy However the overall information environment surrounding them appeared to be relatively inferior to that of average South Koreans.
