[ $F_2$] Production of Gynogenetic Diploid in Olive Flounder, Paralichthys olivaceus (자성발생성 2배체 넙치의 제 2세대 생산)

  • [ $F_2$ ] generation of gynogenetic diploids were produced in olive flounder, Paralichthys olivaceus, by brother-sister mating with full-sibling gynogenetic diploids ($F_1$). The induced ovulations and spawnings were conducted by using intraperitoneal injections of HCG (2,000 IU/kg body weight) with photoperiod controls. Floating rates of artificially ovulated eggs were ranged from 22.9 to $65.7\%$. Fertilization and hatching rates were ranged from 69.0 to $86.2\%$ and 36.8 to $85.8\%$, respectively. All of those three rates between two experimental groups were not significantly different (P>0.05). Average survival rates of $F_2$ generation of 40-day-old 효nogenetic diploid larvae were slightly lower than those of controls (P<0.05), however growth rates were much higher than those of their diploid controls.

A Center Biased Cross-Diamond Search Algorithm for Fast Fractional-pel Motion Estimation (고속 부화소 움직임 추정을 위한 중심 지향적 십자 다이아몬드 탐색 알고리즘)

  • In general video coding systems, motion estimation (ME) is regarded as a vital component in a video coder as it consumes a large amount of computation resources. Fractional pixel motion estimation can improve the video compression rate at the cost of higher computational complexity. It is based on the experimental results that the sum of absolute differences (SAD) shows parabolic shape and thus can be approximated by using interpolation technique. In this paper, we propose a fast fractional pixel search algorithm by combining SASR (Simplified Adaptive Search Range) and the CBCDS (Center Biased Cross-Diamond Search) pattern with the predicted motion vector. Compare with the fractional pel full search and the CBFPS, the proposed CBCDS algorithms can reduce fractional pel search points up to 81.4%, respectively with the PSNR lost about 0.05dB.

  • During the summer of 1969, a series of experiments on the spawning and development of the eggs of grass carp and silver carp was performed with the following results, but the complete development of eggs Iras not accomplished: 1. The season of maturity for both species is estimated to be from the end of June to the beginning of August. 2. Pituitary glands for the use of inducing maturation should be obtained before the maturation season of its donor. 3. Silver carp as small as 40 cm in body length (48 cm in total length) with an age of 6 years were found to have reached maturity, and the number of eggs in the ovaries were from about 23 to 26 thousand for those with body lengths of 40-44.5 cm. 4. The conical-shaped net cloth incubator worked better than others, and each incubator was most effective when installed in parallel series to the water supply pipe with a valve for each incubator to control water flow. 5. During the egg development, if any cell or cells were displaced, the eggs eventually died. 6. The proper manipulation of brood fish before the egg-taking seems to be very Important, and close care should be paid to feeding them well and keeping them in a pond of proper water depth.

Effects of Body Weight Control Methods during Rearing Phase on Laying Performance in Broiler Breeder Pullets (육용종계 육성기 체중조절 방법이 산란기 생산성에 미치는 영향)

  • A study was conducted to investigate the effects of different BW control methods during rearing on laying performance of broiler breeder pullets. D-old 540 female breeder chicks (Arbor Acres) were assigned to three treatments consisted of standard BW (Control), 110% of standard BW at 12 wk of age (T1), and 90% of standard BW at 12 wk of age (T2), with three replicates of 60 birds per replicate (pen) for each treatment. At 20 wk of age, all birds from three treatments reached the BW reqired in the Arbor Acres Manual. There were no significant differences in egg production, egg weight and viability during laying period(p>0.05). However, total egg production rates were improved in T2 and T3. Average egg weight was the highest in T1 among all treatments. Fertility and hatchability were similar among treatments, but T2 tended to be higher than other treatments at 37 and 53 wk of age. No significant difference was found in hatchability among three treatments. The number of hatching egg of T2 reached 168 per year, showing higher number of eggs than did the other treatments. The number of hatched chicks in T2 was 131, which was also higher than the other treatments, but the difference was not significant. It appears that the laying performance of broiler breeder hens could be improved when their BW at 12 wk of age are kept at 90% of standard BW, and reach the standard BW at 20 week of age.

  • The emission characteristics, flame stability, the composition of the flame zone and temperature profile were studied experimentally. The compositions of oxydant were varied by substituting $N_2$ with $CO_2$ at the constant $O_2$ concentration. Results showed that flame became unstable due to the high heat capacity, low transport rate and strong radiation effect of $CO_2$ in comparison with those of $N_2$. The reaction zone was cooled, broadened, as the conversion ratio of $CO_2$ to $N_2$ was increased. Temperature has a large effect on the NOx emission. The concentration of NOx in flue gas decreased due to the decreased temperature of reaction zone. It was also shown that the reaction was delayed by the cooling effect. As the conversion ratio of $CO_2$ to $N_2$ was increased, the emission of CO and the higher temperature zone increased due to the decrease of reaction rate by the cooling effect.

한국산 해마의 서식지 보고 및 초기생활사

  • 실고기과(Syngnathidae)에 속하는 해마류는 5300만년전부터 지구상에 존재해온 어류로 전 세계적으로 72%에 해당하는 32종이 인도-태평양연안에서 서식하는 것으로 알려져 있다. 그리고 약제와 관상무역에서 넓은 시장을 형성하며 그 수요가 지속적으로 증가하고 있다. 그러나, 국내에서는 아직 해마의 서식지와 초기생활사에 대한 연구가 전무한 실정으로 이번 연구에서는 최근 발견된 한국산 해마의 서식지와 채집된 2종 해마의 치어 초기생활사를 보고한다. 2003년 8~9월에 전라남도 여수시와 고흥군 주변해역에서 해마, Hippocampus coronatus 18마리(전장 40.8~79.5mm), 산호해마 H, japonicus 80마리(전장 28.1~56.3mm)가 채집되었고, 순환여과식 사육수조에서 사육하면서 자연산란한 치어를 대상으로 초기생활사를 관찰하였다. 사육은 유리로 된 사각수조(50$\times$30$\times$28cm)에 여과조(26$\times$26$\times$28cm)를 연결한 순환여과시스템에서 실시하였으며, 사육수온은 26.0$\pm$0.5$^{\circ}C$, 염분 32$\textperthousand$ 전후, pH 7.74 전후 그리고 DO 6.8mg/$\ell$ 전후였다. 먹이는 부화 2일령까지는 로티퍼, Brachionus rotundiformis를 단독 급이하였고, 부화 후 3일령부터는 로티퍼와 알테미아, Artemia sp.를 혼합 급이하였다. 치어의 성장 측정은 만능투영기를 이용하여 각 20마리를 무작위 추출하여 측정하였고 각 측정 부위별로 0.001mm까지 측정하였다. 이번 조사에서 전라남도 여수시와 고흥군 주변해역에서 채집된 해마류는 해마(H. coronatus) 18개체, 산호해마(H. japonicus) 80개체의 2종이 채집되었고 순환여과시스템에 사육하던 중 5회 산란하였다. 해마(H. coronatus)는 부화 후 9~10일째에 Total length 11.67~15.98mm(평균 5.19mm, n=20), Trunk length 2.48~3.31mm(평균 2.63mm, n=20), Head length 1.31~2.27mm(평균 1.76mm, n=20) 그리고 Snout length 0.74~l.67mm(평균 1.09mm, n=20) 이었다. 한편, 부화 직후 산호해마(H. japonicus)의 치어는 난황을 거의 흡수한 상태였으며 부화 후 2~3일째 Total length 4.29~5.70mm(평균 5.09mm, n=30), Trunk length 2.06~2.73mm(평균 2.55mm, n=30), Head length 1.50~l.79mm(평균 1.06mm, n=30) 그리고 Snout length 0.81~l.14mm(평균 0.97mm, n=30)였다. 그리고 부화 후 5~6일째에는 Total length 4.33~6.33mm(평균 5.19mm, n=20), Trunk length로 2.48~3.31mm(평균 2.63mm, n=20), Head length 1.31~2.27mm(평균 1.76mm, n=20) 그리고 Snout length 0.74~l.67mm(평균 1.09mm, n=20) 이었다.

  • Greeling, Hexagrammos otakii Jordan et Starks is commonly found at the coastal waters of Korea and Japan. The authors carried out the artificial insemination in the laboratory on Dec, 17, 1987, and reared the hatched larvae in an aquarium. The eggs were demersal and adhesive, and their diameters were 2.00~2.15mm. Color of yolk was light yellow in the early stage, and then turned to orange before hatching. The yolk had numerous tiny oil globules. Hatching began about 477hours after insemination under water temperature of $10.0{\sim}14.5^{\circ}C$. The newly hatched larvae were elongate in shape and 7.48~8.25mm in total length(TL) with 49~50 myomeres. The larvae absorbed the yolk material and oil globules completely in 5days after hatching and became postlarvae. In 17days after hatching, mean total length of the larvae was 9.85mm, and the caudal notochord flex at $45^{\circ}$. In 23days, total length reached 10.54mm. The part of the fin-fold of the future dorsal and anal fins became high. Spawning season of the Greenling is known to be from November to January in the southern coast of Korea.

Yolk absorption and growth of churn salmon, Oncorhynchus keta alevin (연어, Oncorhynchus keta전기자어의 난황흡수 및 초기성장)

  • The process of yolk absorption and the growth pattern of churn salmon, Oncorhynchus keta alevin were studied. Matured males and females of chum salmon were sampled from the Namdaechun River in the east coast of Korea, and then an artificial fertilization was carried out using their eggs and sperms. Fertilized eggs were incubated in controlled water temperature of $13^{\circ}C$ and samples of 40 alevins were randomly taken at just hatching and at every three days between 12 days alter hatching and yolk absorption. The means of total length and total weight of hatched alevins were respectively 1.97cm and 1.85g and the yolk absorption took about 33 days after hatching, based on the morphological measurement. Growth curves of total length, total weight and somatic weight were fitted well with the Gompertz growth model. However, the shrinking in yolk-sac length, yolk-sac weight, yolk-sac height and yolk-sac volume revealed a linear phenomenon until the absorption of yolk was completed. The relative growth of chum salmon alevin, such as the relationship between total length and total weight, or between total weight and yolk-sac weight, was also studied.

  • 본회(회장 오세을)는 지난 14~16일 2박 3일간 제주도에서 종계 부화농가 대상으로 제10기 전문육계 CEO 과정 교육을 진행했다. 종계부화농가의 합리적인 세무회계방법(진일회계법인 임기완 대표(공인회계사 세무사)), 육종트렌드에 따른 종계사양관리((주)체리부로 중앙연구소 김종택 소장), 종계질병진단 및 관리방안(우성양행 전용휘 수의사)에 대한 강연이 진행되었다. 또한, 종계부화산업 발전방안(농축유통신문 김재민 국장), 닭고기자조금사업 활성화방안(닭고기자조금관리위원회 심순택 위원장)에 대해 주제 발표 후 본회 종계부화위원회 연진희 위원장이 좌장을 맡은 가운데 농림축산식품부 축산경영과 김영민 사무관, 본회 이홍재 부회장, 닭고기자조금관리위원회 심순택 위원장, 농축유통신문 김재민 국장, (주)고려비엔피 한 장혁 전무가 종계부화산업 발전방안에 대해 토론회를 진행하였다. 이번 토론회로 종계부화인들의 목소리가 정책에 반영되길 기대하며 위기를 관리하고 대체할 수 있기를 바란다.

Effects of Age of Hens, Egg Storage, and the Change of Egg Weight during Incubation on the Growth of Broiler Chicks (어미닭의 나이, 계란의 저장기간 및 부화중 난중의 변화가 육용계 병아리의 성장에 미치는 효과)

  • The objective of this study was to investigate the influence of egg storage, broiler breeder age, and the change of egg weight during incubation on growth rate of chicks and 43-day-old dressing percentage. The trials involved hatching eggs obtained from 27-wk-old hens and stored for 6 d for the Young-EXP group, from 28-wk-old hens and stored for 0 d for the Young-CON group, from 51-wk-old hens and stored for 6 d for the Old-EXP group, and from 52-wk-old hens and stored for 0 d for the Old-CON group, The hens were two commercial broiler breeder flocks of the same strain (Cobb) but of different egg producing stages(early and middle stages of egg production). The chicks were grown on floor pens for 6 wks, The differences of setting egg weights between Old-CON and Old-EXP groups were 1 g, but those between Young-CON and Young-EXP groups were 2.9 g(P<0,05). The loss of egg weight during 18 d incubation did not greatly differ among four groups, but the loss of egg weight during 21 d incubation was significantly (P<0.05) more in the middle stage of egg production groups than in the early stage of egg production groups. The mean birth weights of the middle stage of egg production groups were significantly(P<0,05) heavier by 8,7 g than those of the early stage of egg production groups; however, the differences of 6-wk-old body weight were not significant between egg producing stages. The differences of body weights in both egg producing stages were not significantly influenced by egg storage period in overall wks of ages. Egg storage and hen age did not greatly influence to the 43 d dressing percentages, either, The correlations of the setting egg weight with 18 d egg weight during incubation, growth rate of chicks, or 43 d dressing percentage were not significant.
