Joint Detection Technique Effective to Other Cell Interference in the Next Generation Hybrid TD-CDMA Mobile Communication Systems (차세대 복합 시분할 부호분할 이동통신 시스템에서 타 셀 간섭에 효율적인 결합검출 기법)

  • In this paper a joint detection method for other cell interference cancellation is proposed in the next generation hybrid TD-CDMA mobile communication systems. A joint detection technique, a most characteristic feature of hybrid TD-CDMA mobile communication systems. retrieves users' data in the same time slot simultaneously with the elimination of multiple user interference. Previously a two stage joint detection method was proposed to cancel other cell interference as well as multiple user interference in the target cell. However the previous scheme does not have concrete ways to recognize other cell users who give major interference to the target cell. Thus all users in neighbor other cells has to be jointly detected and it causes huge complexity of the two stage joint detection. In this paper a method is proposed to perform two stage joint detection according to users' interference with the target cell. Performances of the proposed scheme are investigated through simulations and compared to the previous method the proposed method has no performance degradation and also lower the complexity of two stage joint detection significantly.

  • The multicode CDMA systems that are widely studied as an effective transmission methodology in the IMT-2000 systems, employ orthogonal codes to transform high rate data into parallel, low rate data for simultaneous transmission. In this paper, we propose a new multicode CDMA system which achieves the same data rate and processing gain of the conventional systems, while significantly improves bit error rate performance by exploiting a convolutional code with code rate r=1/2 and a bi-orthogonal code. The simulation results for synchronous systems using maximal ratio combining Rake receivers under additive white Gaussian noise and multi-path fading channels, show significant improviements by the proposed system.

  • The average bit error rate of wideband CDMA in forward link is evaluated for frequency and timing errors in multipath Rayleigh fading channel. The channel BER is evaluated analytically and information BER is investigated with simulation. The performance degradation due to the code/frequency synchronization errors was obtained through simulation for particular two coding schemes - convolutional codes and turbo codes. The results show 1dB degradation due to Tc/4 timing error and 0.5dB degradation due to 50Hz frequency error, for both coding schemes.

  • 터보부호 심벌비트들을 서로 다른 부호율로 반복부호화한 뒤 여러 부채널로 나란히 보내는 터보 부호화 여러반송파 직접수열 부호분할 다중접속 시스템을 제안한다. 레일리 감쇄채널에서 신호대잡음비가 높을 때에는 이 시스템의 성능 한계를 얻었고, 신호대잡음비가 낮아 한계를 적용할 수 없을 때에는 모의실험에서 성능을 살펴보았다. 신호대잡음비가 낮을 때 성능 손실이 조금 있지만 홀짝 검사(parity check) 심벌에 다양성 차수를 크게 주어 오류 마루를 (error floor) 낮출 수 있음을 보였다.

  • In this paper, union upper bound on convolutional coded bit error rates (BER) is derived for downlink orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) networks. According to the numerical results, for the small network loads, the BER performance with Laplacian decoding metric outperforms the BER performance with Gaussian decoding metric under downlink OFDMA networks with Viterbi decoder.

  • Code division multiple access (CDMA) is one of the promising medium access control (MAC) schemes for underwater acoustic sensor networks because of its robustness against frequency-selective fading and high frequency-reuse efficiency. As a way of performance evaluation, sea or lake experiment has been employed along with computer simulation.. In this study, we design the underwater CDMA forward-link transceiver and evaluate the feasibility aginst harsh underwater acoustic channel in water-tank first. Then, based on the water-tank experiment results, we improved the transceiver and showed the improvements in a lake experiment. A pseudo random noise code acquisition process is added for phase error correction before decoding the user data by means of a Walsh code in the receiver. Interleaving and convolutional channel coding scheme are also used for performance improvement. Experimental results show that the multiplexed data is recovered by means of demultiplexing at receivers with error-free in case of two users while with less than 15% bit error rate in case of three and four users.

  • In this paper, the network performance of a turbo coded optical code division multiple access (CDMA) system with cross-layer, which is between physical and network layers, concept is analyzed and simulated. We consider physical and MAC layers in a cross-layer concept. An intensity-modulated/direct-detection (IM/DD) optical system employing pulse position modulation (PPM) is considered. In order to increase the system performance, turbo codes composed of parallel concatenated convolutional codes (PCCCs) is utilized. The network performance is evaluated in terms of bit error probability (BEP). From the simulation results, it is demonstrated that turbo coding offers considerable coding gain with reasonable encoding and decoding complexity. Also, it is confirmed that the performance of such an optical CDMA network can be substantially improved by increasing e interleaver length and e number of iterations in e decoding process. The results of this paper can be applied to implement the indoor optical wireless LANs.

Nonparametric PN code acquisition in DS/CDMA systems (직접수열 부호분할 다중접속 계통에서의 비모수 의사잡음 부호 획득)

  • In this paper, we propose to use nonparametric detector for the PN code acquisition in DS/CDMA systems. Because the detector is nonparametric, Ive can decide the threshold of the detector without first haying to estimate the valiance of time-varying interference. We compare the proposed detector with the conventional detector by showing both analytic and simulation results. From these results, we can observe that the DS/CDMA system with the proposed detector have better performance than that with the conventional detector when the exact estimation of the interference variance is not possible.

  • For large capacity optical CDMA networks, we propose a shared-type encoder/decoders based on an tunable wavelength converter(TWC) and an arrayed waveguide grating (AWG) router. The proposed encoder/decoder treats codewords of wavelength/time 2-D code simultaneously using the dynamic code allocation property of the TWC and the cyclic property of the AWG router, and multiple subscribers can share the encoder/decoder in networks. Feasibility of the structure of the proposed encoder/decoder for dynamic code allocation is tested through simulations using two wavelength/time 2-D codes, which are the generalized multi-wavelength prime code(GMWPC) and the generalized multi-wavelength Reed-Solomon code(GMWRSC). Test results show that the proposed encoder/decoder can increase the channel efficiency not only by increasing the number of simultaneous users without any multiple-access interference but by using a relatively short length CDMA codes.

  • A spread spectrum(ss) communication system has a lot of advantage, such as realzation of asynchronous code division multiplexing(CDM), robutness to narrow-band interference, impulse noise, privacy function, and so on. We have considered utilization of these advantage to develop a local area network(LAN) using such a transmission channel as power-line. In a power-line, however, restricted bandwidth under the law makes it difficult to carry out CDM, and in a radio channel the sysstem has a near-far problem. These problems originate in co-channel interference, which is due to cross-correlation among pseudo-noise sequences of every channel in CDM. In this paper, we propose a new scheme of easily cancelling co-channel interference and investigate its performance by constructing a LAN using SS technique.
