  • This study empirically validate the impacts of WOM information characteristics on the WOM effect in accordance with SNS media due to the increased the WOM role under SNS. The key results showed that the more vivid, negative, and objective WOM information was, the more positive impacts on the intention to adopt information. In addition, the intention to adopt information had a positive impact on the re-WOM intention. Second, there was no significant difference between Facebook and Blog groups regarding the impacts of the WOM information characteristics on the WOM effect. This can be inferred from the fact that consumers recognize all SNS media as a single online medium regardless of their characteristics in the process of accepting and spreading information. Based on these results, this research drew the following implications. It conceptualized the information characteristics factors that influence the online information acceptance process and the relationship with WOM effects by focusing on SNS and high-tech products that are rapidly emerging. This study is also significant because it attempted to expand the characteristics of WOM information and WOM effects to Facebook and blogs, which are SNS media, and proposed a future research direction.

  • The current study examines how product type and attitudes toward the webtoon - a digital comic that originated in Korea - affect consumer responses to webtoon product placement (PPL). Specifically, it examines the following responses: the perception of PPL intrusiveness, attitudes toward the PPL, attitudes toward the brand, word-of-mouth intention, and purchase intention. It further investigates how PPL type interacts with product type and attitudes toward the webtoon on consumer responses to the PPL. The findings from a 2 (product type: functional vs. hedonic) × 2 (attitudes toward the webtoon: negative vs. positive) × 2 (PPL type: creative placement vs. on-set placement) between-subject experimental study suggest the following: consumer responses to PPL in webtoon is more positive when the product is hedonic (vs. functional) and when attitudes toward the webtoon are positive (vs. negative). This study further suggests when subjects felt favorably toward the webtoon, the creative placement produced weaker perceptions of PPL intrusiveness and more favorable attitudes toward the PPL than the on-set placement. On the other hand, when subjects felt negatively toward the webtoon, the on-set placement evoked weaker perceptions of intrusiveness and more favorable attitudes toward the PPL than did the creative placement.

  • This study aims to investigate the relationship between service recovery justice, residual emotions, and customer behavior. It empirically verifies that low justice in service recovery affects residual emotions and, in turn, has an impact on customers' negative behaviors. Furthermore, this research distinguishes customer-brand relationship quality into emotional relationship quality and cognitive relationship quality and seeks to validate that the type of relationship quality may influence the extent to which the justice of recovery processes affects residual emotions. Data was collected through surveys, and hypotheses were tested using structural equation modeling. The research findings indicate that among the dimensions of service recovery justice, procedural justice and interactional justice significantly influence residual emotions. Moreover, residual emotions have a significant impact on both the intention to revisit and the intention to engage in negative word-of-mouth. In addition, the impact of distributive justice and procedural justice on residual emotions was found to be higher for cognitive relationship quality than emotional relationship quality, and the impact of interactional justice on residual emotions was found to be higher for emotional relationship quality than cognitive relationship quality.

  • Internet is having strong impact on the consumer's decision making process. Information search has been done actively through internet today. The online reviews can be crucial information cue to evaluate the alternarive products. The online WOM(Word-Of-Mouth) effect depends on the characteristics of information sender, receiver, and WOM. This study is to examine the influence of the online word of mouth on the consumer purchase intention and the moderating role of product involvement, consumer regulatory focus and self-efficacy. Positive customer reviews on the products influence the purchase intention positively and negative customer reviews influence it negatively. Moderating role of involvement in the causal relation between the valence of online reviews and purchase intention is tested. In case of positive WOM, it is predicted that purchase intention for high involvement products is higher than that of low involvement. In case of negative WOM, purchase intention for high involvement product is lower than that of low involvement product. And this study invetigate the moderating role of regulatory focus. In case of positive WOM, it is predicted that promotion focus oriented consumers have higher purchase intention than prevention focus oriented consumers. In case of negative WOM, prediction is that prevention focus oriented consumers have lower purchase intention than promotion focus oriented consumers. Then we examine the moderating role of self efficacy in the causal relation between the valence of online reviews and purchase intention. In case of positive WOM, it is predicted that consumers with low self efficacy have higher purchase intention than consumers with high self efficacy. In case of negative WOM, it is predicted that consumers with low self efficacy have lower purchase intention than consumers with high self efficacy. Emprical results support our prediction and four hypotheses derived from our conceptual framework are all accepted. This study suggest that the level of product involvement, consumer regulatory focus and the level of self-efficacy influence the consumer responses of the valence of online reviews. Therefore marketers need to manage online reviews based on the level of product involvement, regulatory focus orientation and the level of self-efficacy of target consumers.
