This study attempted to understand how the communication efficiency of middle-aged couples affects marriage satisfaction and to verify the mediating effect of self-esteem. To this end, the results of analyzing the influence relationship between the variables by collecting questionnaire data on the variables of 421 middle-aged couples living in D city are as follows. First, it was confirmed that the communication efficiency, self-esteem, and marriage satisfaction of middle-aged couples had a positive relationship. Second, the partial mediating effect of self-esteem in the relationship between marriage satisfaction was verified by the communication efficiency of middle-aged couples. Based on these research results, an action plan to improve marriage satisfaction in the middle-aged part was suggested.

This study aims to develop and apply communication and relationship enrichment programs for married multicultural couples and verify its effects. This preliminary program was developed based on results from reviews of existing intervention programs, participants' interview for their needs and professionals' feedback on program. The program includes 11 sessions(once a week; 2 hours per session) focusing on communication strategies and related activities using marital counseling. Four multicultural couples participated in the intervention program. Qualitative data was collected during the program, including voice recording files, activity sheets, and filed notes conducted by researchers. Based on the results from the data analysis, we could find the intervention program had an positive effect on the communication between multicultural couples. Specifically, the intervention program could (1) enhanced intimacy in the couples, (2) started conversation and improved communication patterns between the couples. And also (3) modes of communication were changed to more collaborative communication through this program. The marital communication program developed in this study is significant in that it played a catalytic role for marital conversation in multicultural couples and used professional counseling techniques and strategies in solving and managing marital conflict.

Marriage forms a minimal social unit. Marriage can affect not only relative relationship but also possession of property. Regarding legal issues related to marriage, mainly the civil law, especially the family law section, regulates. However, marriage has also a significant legal effect in terms of taxation. This article deals with the taxation of gift tax among them. In Korea, if you give more than 600 million won in assets to your husband and wife, the donee must pay the gift tax. However, there has been little research into the influence of the marital property system on the taxation of gift tax on the donation between married couples. There are two legislative approaches to the attribution of property held by married couples. The one is separate property system, the other is community property system. Under separate property system, husband and wife own property separately. The community property system recognizes marital property of married couple as a common property of married couple. The legal property system in Korea is separate property system. However, married couples can adopt the community property system as a marital property system by their agreement. Currently, most Korean couples are subject to separate property system as a marital property system. There is no legal problem to levy the gift tax on the donation between couples who are subject to separate property system. The problem is the donation of asset between couples who are subject to the community property system. In community property system, most property acquired during marriage (except for gifts or inheritances) is considered community property. community property means property owned jointly by both partners. Some argue that the gift tax can not be taxed between married couples who are subject to the community property system. In this paper, we examine whether these arguments are valid.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship beteween the adolescents' perception of marital conflict and the adolescents' offensive character. The subjects of this study were 340 adolescents from 5 middle schools located in Seoul. The Adolescents' perception of marital conflict was assessed by The Adolescents' Perception of Interparental Conflict Scale developed by Grych and his colleagues(1992). The Adolescents' offensive character was assessed by Buss-Durkee Hostility Inventory by Buss and Durkee(1957). For data analyses. t-tests. one-way ANOVAS. Scheffe Tests for pairwise comparison. pearson's correlations were used. In testing all hypotheses. .05 was used as a significant level in this study. Results showed that the adolescents' perception of marital conflict was positively associated with the adolescents' offensive character. That is, the way the adolescents saw marital conflict often resulted in the adolescents' offensive character.

우리사회에 이혼률이 급증하고(조이혼률 : 1990년 1.1건$\longrightarrow$2002년 3.0건), 가족생활주기중에 학령기 부부의 결혼만족이 가장 낮다는 연구결과들(서동인ㆍ정현숙, 1994 등)이 제기되면서 어느 때보다 가족관계 또는 부부관계의 질적인 향상에 관한 관심이 증가하고 있다. 실제로 Mace (1979)등은 가족향상에서 가장 중요한 것은 부부중심(couple-focused)이며 행동중심(action- oriented)이라고 하였다.

The sexual satisfaction of married couple is one of the most important variable predicts marriage life satisfaction. And the sexual intercourse is considered as a physical and emotional communication which is related with the type of communication between husband and wife. But, former researches had conducted on the husbands or wives separately, the interactions of married couples could not be considered sufficiently. So, the purpose of present research is to find out the relation between the type of communication and sexual satisfaction in the perspective of married couples' interactions. 344 married couples were participated in the survey in Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Gangwon provinces, and data of 344 married couples were analysed. The results of this research is as follows. The type of married couple's communication is related with their sexual satisfaction significantly. Especially, the more wives communicate actively, the more sexual satisfaction of married couples is increased.

The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effects of depression in the relationships between marital conflict and parenting behavior of fathers. The data from fathers of 1703 4-year-old children participating in the Panel Study of Korean Children was analyzed. Findings of this study from structural equation modeling analysis indicated that marital conflict was associated positively with depression. Parenting behavior was predicted by depression. Marital conflict had a negative effect on parenting behavior. This study showed that the relationships between marital conflict and parenting behavior were mediated by depression.

Many multiple life insurance products consider benefits that are contingent on the combined survival status of two lives. To value premiums of the insurance products accurately, we need to consider the impact of the survivorship of one life on another. To show a dependence relation between married couple, we calculate correlation coefficients by using married couples data from National Pension Service and the results show some positive dependence between them. Moreover, by analyzing the death after bereavement, we find a evidence that mortality rates increase after the death of a spouse and, in addition, that this phenomenon, the broken-heart syndrome, diminishes over time. The results of this study can support the method to calculate the premium of multiple life insurance reflecting more realistic joint mortality rates.

This study aimed to explore the causal relationship between an infant-mother's job satisfaction, psychological features, parenting stress and marital conflict through structural equation modeling. Specifically, we tried to identify influences of an infant-mother's job satisfaction on parenting stress and marital conflict and demonstrated how psychological features (self-efficacy, self-esteem, and depression) were mediated by these influences by using a sample of 444 Korean infant-mothers with jobs from the 3rd year of Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey with AMOS 20.0. First, the results demonstrated that job satisfaction of an infant-mother positively related to their self-efficacy and self-esteem whereas negatively related to depression among psychological features. Furthermore, job satisfaction of an infant-mother showed negative relationships with parenting stress and marital conflict. Second, an infant-mother's job satisfaction did predict marital conflict, but not parenting stress. However, these job satisfactions were mediated by an infant-mother's psychological factors. Findings were discussed with regard to the relationship between an infant-mother's job satisfaction, parenting stress, and martial conflict in the family counseling implications.

본 연구는 평등한 부부관계로의 변화를 요구하는 현대사회에서 부인과의 대등하고 민주적인 의사소통을 저해하고, 부인의 정신.신체증상 호소라든가 가족문제를 야기시키는 한국남편의 전형적인 권위주위적 의사소통에 대한 관련변인을 밝혀내어 부부간의 민주적인 관계형성을 도모하고자 하는데 기초자료를 제공하기 위하여 수행되었다. 서울시에 거주하는 328쌍의 부부를 대상으로 남편의 권위주의적 의사소통에 대한 관련변인을 살펴본 결과 개인적 변인으로 자아존중감 성역할태도, 부부간의 변인으로 부부간의 의사결정권, 부부간의 학력차, 부부간의 연령차, 가족환경적 변인으로 남편의 성장가족에서 친부의 권위주위적 행동, 주관적인 사회계층이 통계적으로 유의미하였으며, 개인적 변인, 부부간의 변인, 가족환경적 변인은 남편의 권위주의적 의사소통의 전체분산 중 14.5%, 11.3%, 11.5%를 각각 설명해 주고 있다. 개인, 부부간, 가족환경 변인을 모두 고려하였을 때는 자아존중감, 부부간의 의사결정권 친부의 권위주의적 행동, 성역할 태도, 부부간의 학력차가 통계적으로 유의미하였으며, 이들 변인은 남편의 권위주의적 의사소통의 전체분산 중 25.2%를 설명해 주고 있다.
