Fate and Activity of Microorganism introduced into the Soil (토양에 투입된 미생물의 거동 및 활성)

  • There are several purpose to introduce microorganism into the Soil. The major purpose is to promote plant growth and inhibit plant pathogens. The model example is to put in nitrogen fixing symbiotic bacteria, Pythium and Rhizobium. In order to achieve the intended goal, the introduced microorganism should survive and colonize with sufficient density. The survival of introduced microorganism depend upon biotic and abiotic factors. Predation and competition are important among biotic factor. Water tension, organic carbon, inorganic nutrients(N, P), pH are important factor among abiootic factor. Soil texture and distribution of soil pore are also important in the survival and colonization of introduced microorganism. Selection by soil ecosystem for inoculant is a crucial factor for colonization. Good example are control of autochtonous microorganism and the introduction of surfactant biodegrading Pseudomonas. Sometimes, carriers such as peat and montmorillonite can be added to help colonization. Carriers can protect introduced microorganism by supplying protective microhabitat. Organic polymer is also used as a carrier to immobilize bacteria or industrial enzymes. Examples of these carrier are calcium alginate, agarose and k-carrageenan. The function of these carrier is to provide microhabitat and help colonization for introduced microorganism.

The Study of Evaluation Methods of Electrolyte for Li/SO2Cl2 Battery (Li/SO2Cl2 전지용 전해액의 평가 방법 연구)

  • The cathodic active material of $Li/SO_2Cl_2$ battery is $SO_2Cl_2$, which is the solvent of an electrolyte. It is referred to as a catholyte, a compound word of cathode and electrolyte. As the battery discharges, the catholyte burns out. And thus, the characteristics of the $SO_2Cl_2$ in the battery determine the capacity. In addition, the transition minimum voltage (TMV) and the voltage delay deviation of $Li/SO_2Cl_2$ battery are due to the passivation film formed by the reaction between an electrolyte and Li. Impurities in the electrolyte, such as moisture or heavy metal ions, will accelerate the growth of the passivation film. Therefore, a technology must be established to purify an electrolyte and to ensure the effectiveness of the purification method. In this research, $LiAlCl_4/SO_2Cl_2$ was manufactured using $AlCl_3$ and LiCl. Its concentration, the amount of moisture, and the metal amount were evaluated using an ionic conductivity meter, a colorimeter, and FT-IR.

The Role of Organic Amendments with Different Biodegradability in Ammonia Volatilization during Composting of Cattle Manure (우분뇨 퇴비화 중 암모니아 휘산에 대한 이분해성 및 난분해성 유기 첨가물의 역할)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the roles of co-existed organic materials (OM) with different biodegradability in composting of cattle manure in terms of $CO_2$ emission and $NH_3$ volatilization. Either sawdust (SD, low biodegradability) or rice bran (RB, high biodegradability) was mixed with cattle manure at a various rate and the amounts of $CO_2$ emission and $NH_3$ volatilization were determined periodically during 4 weeks of composting. Percentage of dry matter loss during the composting period was also calculated. The amount of $CO_2$ emitted increased with increasing rate of OM and was significantly (P<0.01) higher in the RB treatment than in the SD treatment by 43 to 122% depending on the rate of OM Accordingly, % of dry matter loss during 4 weeks of composting was higher in the RB (rang: from 35.1 % to 41.5%) than that in the SD treatments (from 18.7% to 22.6%), showing that RB is more biodegradable than SD. During the early composting period up to 8 days, negligible amount of ammonia volatilization was detected in both treatments regardless of application rates. In the RB treatment, substantial amount of ammonia volatilization was detected thereafter, however, no meaningful ammonia volatilization was observed in the SD treatment until the end of composting. Such differences could be attributed to the different properties of SD and RB. For example, the high C/N ratio of SD could enhance $NH_4^+$ immobilization and thus decrease $NH_4^+$ concentration that is susceptible to ammonia volatilization. Binding of $NH_4^+$ on to phenolic compounds of SD may also contribute to the decrease in $NH_4^+$ concentration. Meanwhile, as RB has a relatively low C/N ratio, remineralization of immobilized $NH_4^+$ could increase $NH_4^+$ concentration as high as the level for the occurrence of ammonia volatilization. Therefore, our study suggests that OM which is resistant to biodegradation can reduce $NH_3$ volatilization largely by physico-chemical pathways across the entire composting period and that easily biodegradable OM can retard $NH_3$ volatilzation via microbial immobilization in the early period of composting followed by rapid remineralization, leading to substantial volatilization of $NH_3$ in the middle stage of composting.

  • 정부의 녹색성장 정책에 의해 배전계통에 태양광, 풍력발전 등 분산전원의 설치가 급증함에 따라 기존의 배전계통의 조류의 방향 및 고장전류, 부하전류가 변화되어 배전계통의 보호협조 운용상에 여러 가지 문제점들이 발생할 가능성이 커지고 있다. 특히 분산전원연계시 임피던스 병렬화로 보호기기에 흐르는 사고전류가 감소하는 분류효과가 발생할 가능성이 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 분산전원이 연계된 경우 보호협조를 검토하기 위한 양방향 보호협조 평가프로그램을 이용하여 분산전원이 연계된 경우 계통에서 발생할 수 있는 문제점 중 분류 효과로 인한 보호기기의 부동작 사례를 시뮬레이션하고, 그 결과를 분석하여 본 프로그램의 유용성을 확인하였다.

  • We have investigated the growth kinetics of Al oxide film by anodization in sulfuric acid solution and the electronic properties of this film using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. Al oxide film consisted $Al_2O_3$ was grown based on the point defect model and shown the eclctronic properties of n-type semiconductor.

Mo 첨가 및 소둔 열처리에 따른 합금 690의 부식 저항성 및 기계적 특성

  • 원자력 발전소 증기발생기 전열관 재료인 합금 600의 대체재료로써 설계된 합금 690의 내식성의 향상을 위해서 염소 이온이 다량 포함된 환경에서의 부식 저항성을 크게 향상시킨다고 보고된 Mo을 첨가하여 부식 및 기계적 특성에 미치는 영향을 알아보았다. 미세조직상 Mo를 첨가함에 따라 기지에 미세한 석출물이 석출되어 입자의 미세화를 얻을 수 있었으며 연신율의 감소없이 항복 강도, 인장 강도 및 경도의 향상을 얻을 수 있었다. 공식 저항성은 Mo의 첨가량이 증가함에 따라 부식 속도가 감소하였다. 양극 분극 시험에서도 5$0^{\circ}C$, 3.5wt% NaCl 용액과 0.5N HCl 용액 모두에서 Mo의 함량이 증가할수록 부동태화 전류 밀도 및 임계 부동태화 전류 밀도가 감소하여 전반적으로 현저한 내식성의 향상을 관찰할 수 있었다.

  • 본 논문에서는 최신 비디오 코딩 기술에서 잔차(Residual)신호 변환을 효율적으로 수행하기 위한 부동기저(Basis)를 사용하는 방법을 제안한다. 기존의 DCT-II 나 DST-VII 과 같은 고정 기저를 사용하는 방법은 대부분의 잔차신호들에 대해 효과적으로 비상관화(decorrelation)를 수행하지만 복잡한 잔차 신호일수록 성능이 떨어지는 문제가 있었다. 이러한 압축 성능하락 문제를 줄이기 위하여 PCA(Principle Component Analysis) 방법 중 하나인 KLT(Karhunen-Loeve Transform)를 이용하여 부동(floating) 변환 기저를 유도하는 방법을 제안한다. 기존의 KLT 를 이용한 변환 커널 유도 방법들의 문제점인 부호화기 및 복호화기 계산 복잡도를 줄이기 위하여 KL 커널을 분해가능한(Separable) 2 개의 1 차원 커널로 유도하는 방법을 제안하고, 원본 잔차신호와 유사한 텍스처를 찾아 커널을 예측하는 과정을 간소화하는 방법을 제안한다. 제안하는 방법은 HEVC 에서 실험되었으며 정지영상 코딩 Main-Profile 에서 평균 1.4%가량의 BD-PSNR(Bjontegaard Delta-Peak Signal to Noise Ratio) 성능 향상을 보였으며 특히 스크린 컨텐츠 영상에서 최대 4.5%의 성능 향상을 보인다.

Effects of Repeated Immobilization Stress on the Renal Peripheral Benzodiazepine Receptor in Rats (반복적 부동화 스트레스가 흰쥐 신장의 말초성 benzodiazepine 수용체에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose : Several modulatory factors for renal peripheral benzodiazepine receptor (PBR) has been reported, but their physiological significance remains elusive. Tissue-specific, stress-induced down-regulation of renal PBR coupled with the pharmacological stimulation of these effects by angiotensin II suggested that physiological significance of renal PBR may be related to the pathophysiology of stress-induced hypertension. The boderline hypertensive rat (BHR) has been used extensively to study the interaction of environmental factors, such as stress and blood pressure. The BHR is the first-generation progeny of a cross between the spontaneously hypertensive rat and the control Wistar-Kyoto rat. The pathogenesis of stress induced hypertension in this model is not demonstrated well. Methods In this study, BHR (male, 150-200 g) and Sprague-Dawley (SD, male, 150-200 g) rats were treated by repeated immobilization to induce anxiety. We used plus-maze performance to observe the level of anxiety by measuring percent open crosses and percent time in open. Results : Percent open crosses and percent time in open in BHR were lower than in SD rats (P<0.05). Receptor densities of renal PBR in BHRs were significantly lower than those of SDs (P<0.05). We also observed that the renal PBR was upregulated in the repeatedly stressed (immobilization, 2 hours daily, for 2 weeks) rats, both in the BHR and SD. However, the density of renal PBR in the stressed BHR was still lower than that of stressed SD. Renal PBR has been suggested to be an important organs which Is responsible for the production of cholesterol-derived products during stress. Conrlusion : From these results, it can be summarized that the lowed density of renal PBR may be involved in the pathogeneis of stress-induced hypertension.

Building a Robust 3D Statistical Shape Model of the Mandible (견고한 3차원 하악골 통계 형상 모델 생성)

  • In this paper, we propose a method for construction of robust 3D statistical shape model in the mandible CT datasets. Our method consists of following four steps. First, we decompose a 3D input shape Into patches. Second, to generate a corresponding shape of a floating shape, all shapes in the training set are parameterized onto a disk similar to the patch topology. Third, we generate the corresponding shape by one-to-one mapping between the reference and the floating shapes. We solve the problem failed to generate the corresponding points near the patch boundary Finally, the corresponding shapes are aligned with the reference shape. Then statistical shape model is generated by principle component analysis. To evaluate the accuracy of our 3D statistical shape model of the mandible, we perform visual inspection and similarity measure using average distance difference between the floating and the corresponding shapes. In addition, we measure the compactness of statistical shape model using the modes of variation. Experimental results show that our 3D statistical shape model generated by the mandible CT datasets with various characteristics has a high similarity between the floating and corresponding shapes and is represented by the small number of modes.
