Microwave Absorption Properties in Composite Microwave Absorberby Control of Preparing Temperature (복합형 전파흡수체에 있어 시편제작 온도에 따른 전파흡수 특성)

  • Mn-Zn ferrite microwave absorbers mixed with silicon for mobile phone were prepared and the effect of preparation temperature of specimens on absorption ability was studied. A sample with the thickness of 1 mm prepared at 70 $^{\circ}C$ showed excellent absorption ability of 3.4 ㏈ at 1.8 GHz which is a frequency band for mobile phone. A loss factor of tan $\delta$ > 1 is shifted toward lower frequency as increasing preparation temperature of specimens.

  • The absorbing structure composed of multi-layered fiber reinforced composite materials was designed and microwave absorbing properties are investigated. On the basis of transmission line theory, the theoretical equations to predict the reflection loss and the appropriate composite material for each functional layer are suggested. The most significant result of this study is the successful design and fabrication of triple-layered composite laminates which has the superior microwave absorbing porperties (more than 10 dB in 4∼12 GHz range), without using the ferrite filler in the impedance transforming layer. In the two-layered composite laminate (absorber/substrate), however, the use of ferrite filler (about 40 wt %) in the absorbing layer is necessary to obtain the certain level of microwave absorbance. By combining the glass-fiber composite with ferrite filler and carbon-fiber composite substrate, the microwave absorbing properties more than 10 dB in 4∼12 GHz frequencies than be obtained.

  • Generally, a silicone rubber and a chloride polyethylene(CPE) have been used for the development of high-performance composite EM(ElectroMagnetic) wave absorbers. In this study, the EM wave absorption abilities for natural lacquer which is newly suggested in this study as a binder for composite EM wave absorbers were investigated to develop an improved EM wave absorbers. In addition, MnZn ferrite composite EM wave absorbers mixed with the natural lacquer were prepared and their absorption ability was also investigated. MnZn ferrite composite EM wave absorbers which employs the natural lacquer as a binder showed an improved EM wave absorption characteristics in comparison with the conventional binder such as a silicone rubber and a chloride polyethylene(CPE). The matching frequency and the absorption ability of EM wave absorbers mixed with natural lacquer can be controled the change of the thickness of them.

  • Wide-band absorbency and small layer thickness are required in the high- performance microwave absorber. In order to reduce the thickness of the absorber, ferrite-iron-rubber composites were proposed and its properties were investigated. The increase in both real part of perrreability and permittivity of the composites were observed with addition of -Fe powder and this behavior results in the decrease of fm dm term. The matching thicknesses of ferrite-iron-ruber composites were relatively small(0.5~2.0 mm) in the frequency range of 3~17 GHz as comIBfed to than that of ferrite-rubbr composit.

  • The microwave absorption properties of silicone, chloride polyethylene(CPE), and natural lacquer which is newly suggested in this study as a binder for composite microwave absorber were investigated to develop a superior microwave absorber. MnZn ferrite composite microwave absorbers mixed with them were prepared and their absorption property was investigated. A MnZn ferrite microwave absorber mixed with natural lacquer showed an excellent microwave absorption property in expanded frequency band.

  • We prepared EM wave absorbers by using recycled Sr ferrite for GHz frequency, and investigated the effects of carbon additions and preparation temperatures on their EM wave absorption properties. A Sr ferrite EM wave absorber with the ratio of Sr ferrite: silicon rubber: carbon = 80 : 13.6: 6.4 wt% prepared at 7$0^{\circ}C$ showed -24 dB at 9.4 GHz and -23 dB at 5.5 GHz for 2 mm and 3 mm thickness, respectively.

  • In this study, NiCoZn ferrites with the variation of sintering temperature and chemical composition were prepared by the coprecipitation. Microstructures Crystal structure of NiCoZn ferrites were analyzed by XRD and their electric magnetic characteristics were analyzed by LCR meter and their morphology observed by SEM. We identified that these powders have a typical NiCoZn spinel structure and nanoparticles average size of 40 nm. The impurity, the initial permeability and the Q factor value are the lowest of sintered NiCoZn ferrite at $1250^{\circ}C$. Also, we measured S-parameter for $(Ni_{0.4}Co_{0.1}Zn_{0.5})Fe_2O_4$ which showed a maximum reflection loss of -3.1 dB at 6 GHz for the 2 mm thick sample. From this result, we found that the NiCoZn ferrite can be used in ferrite microwave-absorbing application at a higher frequency region (> 6 GHz).
