  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of 12weeks complexed lower body muscle-strengthening exercise program on fall risk in elderly women. Twenty subjects volunteered to participate who use a welfare center in W city For the study we divided into two groups: exercise group (EC, n=10, mean age:$69.6{\pm}2.2$), comparative group(CG, n=10, mean age:$71.3{\pm}4.6$). In order to investigate the effect of lower body muscle-strengthening program on the degree of risk of fall. It reached a conclusion as follows after having applied BBS (Berg Balance Scale) and OLST (One-Leg Stance Test) to examine the degree of risk of fall. As a result of changes in BBS and OLST, there were significant differences between EG and CG for each test(p<.00). Therefore, it confirmed that the application of complexed lower body muscle-strengthening program to the elderly who have a high risk of fall influences the risk of fall positively.

  • The goal of this study was to investigate the influence of exercise training with or without blood flow restriction (BFR) on physical performance and balance in elderly females. Participants (N = 43) were randomly divided into combined exercise with BFR group (n = 14, EX-BFR), only combine exercise group (n =14, EX) or a non-exercise control group (n = 15, CON). Both EX-BFR and EX groups had completed exercise training for 12 weeks. During the training period, the CON group maintained their normal lives. After baseline tests, two-way repeated measures ANOVA with contrast testing was conducted using SPSS 22.0. Study results found that physical performance and balance in both EX-BFR and EX groups were significantly improved, and fall index in both EX-BFR and EX groups were significantly decreased. There were no changes in the CON group. In addition, the % change and effect size of all variables in the EX-BFR group were larger than the EX group. So, the results showed that the EX-BFR group had performed more intense exercise caused by restricted blood flow during the training period compared to the EX group. Thus, exercise with BFR training may additionally influence physical performance and balance in elderly females.

  • Frontotemporal dementia, the second most common cause of early onset dementia, is a neurodegenerative clinical syndrome characterized by progressive deficits in behavior, executive function and language. Although motor symptoms in frontotemporal dementia are represented by motor neuron disease, parkinsonism and progressive supranuclear palsy syndrome, there have been no reports of motor weakness caused by the direct involvement of central motor nervous systems in frontotemporal dementia. Moreover, no association between clinical dementia groups and complex regional pain syndrome has been reported. We diagnosed a rare case with motor weakness and complex regional pain syndrome of lower limbs due to central nervous system lesion in a patient with frontotemporal dementia by magnetic resonance imaging, electrodiagnostic study and three phase bone scan. Following steroid therapy for complex regional pain syndrome, pain was improved. Functional improvement was noted after rehabilitation therapy, including functional electrical stimulation, muscle strengthening exercise and gait training during hospitalization. This case report suggests that rehabilitation therapy for motor weakness in frontotemporal dementia could be effective for improving overall function.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of 12-week circuit weight training on their body composition and physical fitness in middle aged women. A total of 34 subjects of did not have any physical abnormalities or diseases, and the subjects were 12-week circuit weight training. The results of this study were as following : Body composition component examination showed that the body weight, body fat percentage and waist measurement showed differences that were statistically significant. And the physical fitness component examination showed that muscular endurance, flexibility, agility, and cardiovascular endurance showed differences that were statistically significant. But muscular strength and reflexes showed differences that were not statistically significant. These results suggest that the circuit weight-training had an effect on body composition and physical fitness examination results over 12-week. Therefore, we consider that the circuit weight training is recommended to middle-age women to improve body fat percentage and physical strength.

  • This study evaluated soccer-specific fitness early and late season to check the conditioning status of K3 league soccer players. Evaluation factors included body composition, agility, quickness, endurance and isokinetic limb muscle strength. As a result, the factors that showed improvement in the late season were skeletal muscle mass, agility and quickness, and body composition, endurance and isokinetic limb muscle strength were not different from each other. The factors that showed improvement in the second half of the season are thought to be due to the learning effect of repetitive training, competition participation during the season. Lastly, endurance and lower extremity strength did not show improvement in the second half of the season due to the fact that no specific training was performed during the season. Taken together, it is necessary to periodically check the fitness status of athletes to develop and apply a fitness training program suitable for competition, transition and preparation period.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of milk protein intake and band exercise on active fitness and metabolism risk factor of elderly women for 8 weeks. The two groups were classified into one group(TG) with milk protein intake and band exercise both, and the other group(CG) that was controled. The group of TG was applied doing milk protein intake 3 times for a day, and doing band exercise 4 times for 60 minutes a week. The intensity of the exercise was RPE<17. Each measurement variable was measured before and after 8 weeks to investigate the effect. This study got the result with this step. First, TG has shown small interaction with active fitness. Second, TG has shown small interaction with metabolism risk factor. Therefore, this study gives us the positive result of the effect of milk protein intake and band exercise on active fitness and metabolism risk factor of elderly women for 8 weeks. However, it has limitation to verify effect of milk protein intake and band exercise.
