  • This study aims to investigate how 65 years old and older men's regular exercise can affect their lymphocyte, monocyte, eosinophil, neutrophil, basophil, IgG, IgA, and IgM using meta-analysis of the related data from 8 literatures and 35 case studies which were published from 2002to 2012. The subjects with no regular exercise experience were selected for the analysis regarding the homogeneity of the background characteristics of elderly subjects. In addition, the exercise treatment was about 60 minutes per exercise three times a week for 12 to 24 weeks. Exercise intensity was a moderate aerobic exercise that the subject could endure. Regular exercise of the elderly had a mean effect size of 0.523 after the exercise. This means that immune variables before exercise increase by about 20% after regular exercise. Since regular exercise by the elderly activates the immune system, it has a beneficial effect on health.

Analysis methods were t-test, one way ANOVA, Scheffe test, Pearsons correlation coefficient, and Stepwise multiple regression analysis. The findings are as follows. Safety awareness point was an average of 177.5 points which was higher levels. Area showing the highest safety awareness was safety from fire. Safety practice behavior was an intermediate level of an average 63.3 points. Also, there was a positive correlation between safety awareness and safety practice behavior(r=.595. P<.01). The results of this study implies that we need the safety training program for the safety awareness of college students.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the perception of nurse's use of physical restraints. This study is a descriptive research study for 138 nurses who work at the small hospitals under 300 beds. Statistical analysis was performed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, and factor analysis using the SPSS statistical program. The results of this study were as follows: The overall average of the nurses' perception of physical restraint was $3.91{\pm}0.54$, and the most important reason for using a physical restraint was to protect the patient from falling out of bed($4.37{\pm}0.68$). The factor analysis showed that 'behavior, psychological symptom management($3.81{\pm}0.67$)', 'maintain medical treatment($4.11{\pm}0.60$)' and 'patient safety($4.13{\pm}0.63$)'. It is necessary to understand the characteristics and factors of nurse's use of physical restraint in small and medium hospitals. Moreover, it is also required to use minimum physical restraints for patient's safeties and rights based on accurate understanding of physical restraint's use. Therefore, it is needed to provide job training for the physical restraint that is used in various situations and to develop education and intervention program to adjust in nurses' situation.

  • This study was conducted to prove the effectiveness of home-linked indirect smoking prevention education in early childhood in improving the awareness, skills, attitudes and willingness to protect themselves from smoking. 208 5-year-old children were recruited from three kindergartens located in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do. Children in the experimental group received home-linked indirect smoking prevention education. Children in the comparative group, received indirect smoking prevention education in kindergarten. Children in the control group received general health education. The results revealed that all groups showed significant differences between pretest and posttest in awareness of second-smoke, attitudes and willingness to stop smoking. However, the skills to protect oneself from second-smoke showed a significant difference in the experimental group and the comparative group. The values of changes among the groups showed high increases in the order of experimental, comparative, and control groups. This shows that home-linked education had considerable positive effects on indirect smoking prevention.
