Reduction of Structural and Computational Complexity in IMD Reduction Method of the PTS-based OFDM Communication System (PTS 방식의 OFDM 통신 시스템에서 IMD 저감 기법의 복잡도와 계산량 저감)

  • OFDM(orthogonal frequency division multiplexing) signal with high PAPR(peak to average power ratio) produces the nonlinear distortion and/or decreases down the power efficiency of HPA(high power amplifier). So, the IMD(inter-modulation distortion) reduction method was proposed to reduce the nonlinear distortion, which shows better BER(bit error rate) performance than the PAPR reduction methods. However, IMD reduction method has inherent problem which system complexity and processing time increases because the FFT(fast Fourier transform) processor is added in transmitter and decision criterion of IMD reduction method is computed in frequency domain,. In this paper, therefore, we propose a new IMD reduction method to reduce the computational complexity and structure of IMD computation. And we apply this proposed method into OFDM system using PTS(partial transmit sequence) scheme and compare the computational complexity between conventional and proposed IMD reduction method. This method can reduce the system size and computational complexity. Also, the proposed has almost same BER performance with the conventional IMD reduction method.

Effect of Layout and Complexity of Class Diagram on Model Comprehension (클래스다이어그램의 레이아웃과 복잡도가 모델 이해도에 미치는 영향)

  • As a de facto standard for system modeling, UML diagrams have been widely used in the industry. Of these, the class diagram is useful to visualize the classes and their relationships and thus directly influences the forward and reverse processes of system modeling and development. Many earlier studies have attempted to examine as to what impact the layout and complexity of the class diagram would have on the comprehension of system modeling. However, their findings have been equivocal and it is not easy to understand the effects of diagram layout. Accordingly this research relied on the guidelines of diagram layout suggested in the earlier studies and designed a 2 (layout) x 2 (complexity) factorial design to examine their impact on diagram comprehension. 47 subjects were participated in the experiment where class diagrams were provided differently in their layout and complexity. We found that a good layout was significantly more effective than the bad. Furthermore the results were significantly persistent in the complex group than the simple. However, there was no interaction effect between layout and complexity of the diagram.

  • 독립적인 재사용 단위인 컴포넌트를 조립하여 시스템을 개발하는 컴포넌트 기반 시스템의 품질은 각 개별 컴포넌트의 품질에 영향을 받는다. 그러므로, 시스템의 품질 향상과 컴포넌트의 폭넓은 사용을 위해 개별 컴포넌트에 대한 품질 측정이 필요하다. 각 논문에서는 컴포넌트 분석단계의 정보를 사용하여 컴포넌트 인터페이스가 서비스를 제공하기 위해 얼마나 복잡한지를 측정한다. 이러한 독립적인 개별 컴포넌트의 인터페이스 복잡성 측정은 크기에 기반을 두며, 컴포넌트 기반 시스템 개발주기의 초기 단계인 컴포넌트 분석단계 산출물에 대해 이루어진다. 이러한 측정을 통해, 컴포넌트 개발에 대한 노력, 비용 및 시간, 결함 발생률, 사용 용이성 등을 예측할 수 있으며, 이로써 개발될 컴포넌트의 생산성 및 품질을 예측 및 관리하는데 사용할 수 있으므로, 그 중요성이 크다할 수 있다.

  • 본 논문에서는 펩 서비스 기반 시스템에 대한 프로젝트 관리 기법을 소개한다. 먼저 웹 서비스 기반 시스템에서 발생할 수 있는 개발 복잡성이 무엇인지 설명한다. 발생 가능한 복잡성은 클라이언트와 서버 사이의 통신 프로토콜인 XML에서 발생한다. 또한 웹서비스의 갯수가 증가하면 WSDL의 관리도 중요해진다. 본 논문에서는 개발 복잡성을 줄이기 위한 웹 서비스 기반 시스템의 아키텍처는 무엇인지 소개한다. 또한 프로젝트 관리 도구를 사용하여 XML을 관리하는 방법을 소개한다. 마지막으로 이 관리 기법을 프로젝트에 도입하였을 때 어떤 생산성 증가 효과가 있었는지 소개한다.

Simplified MMSE Detection with SoIC for Iterative Receivers in Multiple Antenna Systems (다중 안테나 시스템에서 연 간섭 제거를 이용한 저 복잡도 MMSE 신호 검출 방법)

  • Simplified minimum mean square error (MMSE) detection technique combined with soft interference cancellation(SoIC) is proposed for iterative receivers in multiple antenna systems. To avoid repeated matrix inversions required to obtain the MMSE filter coefficients during the iteration between the soft detector and decoder, simplified matrix inversion techniques are applied to calculate the filter coefficient matrix. Simulation results show that the proposed MMSE detections with SoIC indicate a comparable or slightly degraded detection performance while achieving a significantly reduced complexity as compared to the conventional MMSE detection with SoIC.

  • In this paper, we propose a low-complexity carrier frequency offset (CFO) estimation algorithm for OFDM based wireless LAN, IEEE 802.11a. The complexity of the arctangent operation to calculate the argument of auto-correlation for CFO estimation is reduced by a novel range pointer method. The proposed algorithm estimates fine CFO value first and then based on the fine CFO value, simple criteria is used for the boundary decision of integer CFO estimation. The simulation results show that the performance of the proposed algorithm is slightly better than the conventional method while the computational complexity is reduced by 50%. Furthermore, the proposed method can be easily implemented for the low complex next generation MIMO-OFDM based WLAN systems.

  • This paper proposes a partial detection scheme using QRD-M, DFE, and iterative schemes for efficiency in terms of detection performance and complexity in a MIMO-OFDM system. The proposed scheme detects signals by using the different detection methods in according to spatial stream. In the proposed scheme, QRD-M with high detection performance and high complexity is used in spatial stream that requires low complexity, and DFE with low detection performance and low complexity is used in spatial stream that requires high complexity. Also, the iterative detection is performed in the detected spatial stream by using DFE. From the simulation, it is confirmed that although proposed scheme has increased complexity, detection performance is greatly improved by the proposed scheme.

  • In this paper, we propose low-complexity implementation of orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) timing delay detector with multiple receive antennas for broadband wireless access (BWA). First, in order to reduce the computational complexity, the detection structure which rotates the phase of the received ranging symbols is introduced. Second, we propose the detection structure with the N-point/M-interval fast Fourier transform structure and a frequency-domain average-power estimator for complexity reduction without sacrificing the system performance. Finally, simulation results for the proposed structures and complexity comparison of the existing structure with the proposed detectors are presented.

  • To improve the reliability and quality of software system, many studies of the testing based on state-transition diagram have been in progress. Existing studies tried to solve the complexity problem of state-transition diagram. But the development of test case demands the better way to derive and manage the state diagram with low complexity. In this paper, the STMT(State-Transition Mapping Tree) is proposed to decrease the complexity of state diagram without changing or loosing the original state or transition information. Comparing with other methods, the proposed method turns out to be less complex.

  • 개념적 수문 모형은 탱크의 개수, 탱크 간 관계구조, 그리고 저류량과 유출량 간 선형/비선형 관계 정의 방식 등에 따라 다양한 형태로 개발되어왔으며, 각 모형마다 매개변수 수 및 입력 자료가 상이하다. 모형의 매개변수가 많아지면 결과가 좋게 나타날 수 있으나, 늘어난 매개변수에 대해 물리적 의미를 부여하고 해석하기가 쉽지 않다. 단순한 모형은 보정이 용이하고 그 특성상 실무에서 널리 이용되고 있으나, 물순환 구조가 복잡한 유역에 대해서는 적용성이 떨어질 수 있다. 하지만 매개변수의 수가 많은 모형이 적은 모형에 비해 항상 결과가 좋은 것은 아니다. 복잡한 모형은 부족한 안정성에 의해 보정 기간에서는 결과가 좋았으나, 검정 기간 대해 결과가 안 좋을 수도 있으며 이에 대한 평가가 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 국내에서 주로 이용되는 개념적 모형을 대상으로 모형의 복잡성과의 정확도의 관계를 비교 평가하고자 한다. 대상 모형으로는 수정 3단 Tank 모형, Im's Tank 모형, Two-Parametric Hyperbolic Model (TPHM), 그리고 Daily Watershed Streamflow Model (DAWAST)을 선정하였고, 대상유역으로는 이동저수지 상류에 위치한 2개 유역을 선정하였다. 모형 간 비교를 위한 정량적 통계적 지표로 $R^2$, Nash-Sutcliffe efficiency (NSE), root mean square error-observations standard deviation ratio (RSR), 그리고 percent bias (PBIAS)를 이용하였다. 본 연구 결과는 개념적 수문 모형에 대한 이해를 증진하고, 장기유출 해석을 위한 수문 모형의 선택 시 모형의 복잡도 및 정확도의 관점에서 도움을 줄 수 있는 기초자료로 이용될 수 있을 것이다.
