  • The authors have studied vibration analysis algorithm which was suitable to the personal computer. Recently, we presented the transfer stiffness coefficient method(TSCM). This method is based on the concept of the transfer of the nodal dynamic stiffness coefficients which are related to force and displacement vectors at each node. In this paper, we describes the general formulation for the longitudinal and flexural coupled vibration analysis of a beam type structure by the TSCM. And the superiority of the TSCM to the finite element method(FEM) in the computation accuracy, cost and convenience was confirmed by results of the numerical computation and experiment.

  • This paper describes the experimental study on the mechanical characteristics of a steel plate-reinforced concrete joint. As an alternative reinforced concrete structure, the SC modular construction method is widely used and studied in the field ofindustrial facility field. However, the structure characteristics of RC and SC joint are not yet studied completely. In this paper, the beam-type construction joint of RC and SC walls was made to simulate the application of SC module to the large RC structure. Also, an out-of-plane loading was applied to the test specimen in order to evaluate flexural strength and structural properties of the beam-type RC-SC joint.

  • This is an experimental study on the out of plane load behavior of SC (Steel Plate Concrete) wall module under bending and shear loading. 4 tests were conducted to verify structural performance according to rib reinforcement ratio, stud reinforcement ratio and shear reinforcement ratio. On the basis of test results, it is found that rib reinforcement ratio is a main factor of flexural strength of SC structures.

  • In order to analyze collapse behavior of structure containing irregular and large displacement, many numerical analyses have been conducted. In this study, using a new method, Applied Element Method (AEM) for collapse analysis of structures, collapse behavior of model RC structures Is simulated. From these simulations results, displacement of X-direction (or horizontal) and displacement of Y-direction (or vertical) is similar to that of mode) RC structures. It is confirmed that collapse behavior of structures using AEN is reliable accurately simulated with that of model RC structures.

  • The authors have developed the transfer dynamic stiffness coefficient method(TDSCM) which is based on the concepts of the substructure synthesis method and transfer influence coefficient method. As a result, we suggested the algorithm for free vibration analysis of beam-like structures which are mainly found in mechanical design by applying the TDSCM in the previous reports. In this paper, we extend this algorithm to the forced vibration analysis for them. And we also confirmed the merits of this method.

  • The honeycomb composite joint structure designed for application to a tilting KTX railroad car body is subjected to bending loads of a cantilever type. Honeycomb sandwich composite panel-joint attached in the real tilting car body was fabricated and sectioned as several beam-joint specimens for the bending test. The fracture behaviors of these specimens under static loads were different from those under cyclic loads. Static bending loads caused shear deformation and fracture in the honeycomb core region, while fatigue cyclic bend loading caused delamination along the interface between the composite skin and the honeycomb core, and/or caused a fracture in the welded part jointed with the steel under-frame. These fracture behaviors could occur in other industrial honeycomb composite joints with similar sub-structures, and be used for improving design parameters of a honeycomb composite joint structure.

  • The authors has developed the transfer influence coefficient method(TICM) which is an algorithm for the analysis of vibration suitable for a personal computer and applied to many structures such as straight-line beam, plate and shell structures. But TICM can't be applied to the closed loop system and is required extremely much time on the computation of complicate and large structures. Therefore, we now suggest the transfer stiffness coefficient method(TSCM) overcoming these two problems, which consists on the concept of the substructure synthesis method and transfer influence coefficient method. TSCM is formulated for the free vibration analyses of a straight-line distributed beam structure and confirmed by the results of numerical computation to the numerical high accuracy and the high speed.

  • A gyroscope is a rotating body possessing one axis of symmetry and whose rotation about the symmetry axis is relatively large compared with the rotation about any other axis. Tuning fork is this type of structure that various modem gyro-sensors are based on. In this paper, dynamic behavior of a cantilevered beam subjected ta a base rotation with respect to the eccentric axis that is parallel to the beam axis is analyzed. The final equations of motion in terms of generalized coordinates can be solved with numerical scheme with various values of angular velocities and angular accelerations of the rotating axis. In contrast to the case of rotating cantilever beam like helicopter blade, the rotational motion with respect to the beam axis has effect to decrease the stiffness of the beam and has unstable region depending on the magnitude of the rotational angular velocity and angular acceleration.

  • In this study, out-of-plane flexural test was performed to analyze behavior properties for a beam specimen which imitated a structure with connection member between reinforced concrete and steel plate concrete part. Tie bars between a upper and a lower steel plate, and tie wide flange shapes between upper and lower ribs were designed to prevent the steel plate or the ribs from breakaway in the connection of the specimen. As a result of the test, ductile failure behavior of the specimen and the functionality of the tie members were conformed as originally intended. Also, tension tests were performed to evaluate the design appropriateness of two specimens produced to anchor and connect mechanically #14 bars. The two test results showed that the anchorage connection system behaves in elastic limit during the main bars yielded, and the integrity of the designed system was verified.

  • Fatigue crack initiation life has a wide scatter and this makes the fatigue design of structural members difficult. In order to make the fatigue life distribution clear, it is required to prepare a large number of specimens and repeat the fatigue tests under the same loading condition. Such fatigue tests usually take much time and cost. In this study, a fatigue testing method using a multi-notched test specimen for the purpose of estimating the distribution function of fatigue crack initiation life by small number of fatigue tests is used. The purpose of this study is to verify the above fatigue testing method of a multi-notched specimen by using Bayesian reliability analysis, Least square method and Skewness method for the determination of unknown Weibull parameters. The multi-notched specimen is a specimen in which several tens of statistically identical notches are prepared.
