Research on Jaywalking Characteristics of Elderly/Non-Elderly (고령자/비고령자의 무단횡단 특성에 관한 연구)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to analyze the walking characteristics of jaywalking pedestrians, which account for a large proportion of deaths in pedestrian traffic accidents. Method: As for the analysis method, after collecting data of jaywalking pedestrians using imaging equipment, frequency analysis and statistical verification were performed on the jaywalking characteristics of elderly and non-elderly people. Result: It was found that there was a difference in the characteristics of jaywalking between the elderly and non-elders, but in the case of walking speed, insignificant results were derived. However, it was found that among the elderly, the group having difficulty walking in general had a lower walking speed than the group that did not. Conclusion: It is judged that one of the causes of jaywalking is the perception of illegal activities and insensitivity to the risk of accidents, not the age and walking ability. Therefore, in addition to safety education, it is judged that it is necessary to provide pedestrian safety information that requires the driver's attention in multiple jaywalking sections.

  • 교통신호기는 다양한 교통통행에 우선권을 부여하는 교통안전시설물로서, 교통소통과 안전에 지대한 영향을 끼치는 매우 중요한 통제시설이다. 그러나 현행 부적절한 신호기 설치로 차량 교통의 흐름을 방해하거나 교통사고를 증가시키는 경우가 있다. 본 연구는 교통안전시설실무편람에 제세된 9가지 신호기 설치준거 중 보행자 신호기 설치 준거에 대하여 국내도로상황 및 보행자 특성에 맞는 새로운 설치준거를 제시하는데 목적이 있다. 교통운영 측면에서 보면, 보행자 신호기는 보행자가 도로를 횡단하는데 적절한 간격을 찾을 수 없을 때 인위적으로 횡단간격을 만들어 주기 위한 교통제어시설이다. 따라서 보행자가 횡단보도에서 최대로 대기할 수 있는 시간을 기준으로 설치 여부를 결정하는 것으로 가정하고, 보행자가 보도상에서 기다릴 수 있는 최대한도 대기시간은 단일로상의 무신호 횡단보도에 교통신회가 설치되었을 경우 한 주기에서 녹색시간을 감한 시간으로 가정할 수 있다. 무신호 횡단보도 현장조사를 통하여 보행자 횡단행태, 횡단보행속도, 보행자 대기시간 등을 분석하였다. 차량의 간섭에 의한 보행자 회단간격과 차량 교통량과의 관계를 도출하고, 보행자 간섭에 의한 차량 교통량과 보행자 교통량과의 관계를 도출하였다. 결론적으로 차로수별로 차량 교통량과 보행자 교통량 상관관계에 의한 신호기 설치, 설치고려, 미설치 영역을 구분하여 보행자 신호기 설치준거(안)을 제시하였다.

A Method for Pedestrian Accident Reconstruction Using Optimization (최적화방법을 이용한 보행자 충돌사고 재현기법 개발)

  • As the number of pedestrian accident increases, the reconstruction of an accident becomes important to find the source of the fault. Generally, accidents are reconstructed by the intuition of experts or primitive physics. A reconstruction method is proposed using sophisticated optimization technology. At first, a dynamic simulation model is established for the accident environment. Occupant analysis for automobile crashworthiness is employed. The situation before an accident is identified by optimization. The impact velocity and the position of the pedestrian are utilized as design variables. The design variables are found by minimizing the difference between the simulation and the real accident. The optimization process is performed by linking an occupant analysis program MADYMO to an optimization program VisualDOC. Since the involved analysis is dynamics and highly nonlinear, response surface method is selected for the optimization process. Problems are solved for various situations.

  • 교통신호기는 다양한 교통 통행에 우선권을 부여하는 교통안전시설물로써, 교통소통에 지대한 영향을 끼치는 매우 중요한 통제시설이다. 그러나 현행 부적절한 신호기 설치 및 미설치로 차량 교통의 흐름을 방해하거나 교통사고를 증가시키는 경우가 있다. 본 연구 는 교통안전시설실무편람에 제시된 9가지 신호기 설치기준중 보행자 신호기 설치 기준에 대하여 국내 도로상황 및 보행자 특성 등에 맞는 새로운 설치기준을 제시하는데 목적이 있다. 보행자가 보도상에서 기다릴 수 있는 최대한도 대기시간은 단일로상의 무신호 횡단보도에 교통신호기가 설치되었을 경우를 가정하여 설정하였으며, 보행자 신호기 설치를 위한 차량 교통량과 보행자 교통량을 도로폭 관련 차로수별로 도출하였다. 왕복 2차로 도로인 경우 차량 교통량은 시간당 990대, 4차로인 경우 420대, 6차로인 경우 120대를 보행자 신호기 설치를 위한 최소 차량 교통량 기준값으로 하고, 차로수에 무관하게 보행자 교통량은 시간당 150명을 최소 기준값으로 제시하였다. 또한 차량 교통량과 보행자 교통량 상관관계에 의한 신호기 설치, 설치고려, 미설치 영역을 그래프로 작성하여 실무자의 편의를 도모하고자 하였다.

  • Currently, the pedestrian signal timing model has no consideration on the characteristics of different land use patterns and pedestrian behaviors during pedestrian signal timing calculation. This study intended to propose pedestrian signal timing models that could reflect the inherent characteristics of pedestrian and land use patterns. For this study, three major variables affecting the length of signal timing were identified: walking speed, perception-reaction time, and density-delay time. Then, the representative values of each variable were estimated through the field studies. By combining this information, several pedestrian signal timing models were developed. The data in this paper can be used for future references, and the walking environments for pedestrians could be improved by applying the models suggested in this paper.

  • This paper presents new pedestrian signal timings considering pedestrian demand Pedestrian characteristics, and land use which were obtained by Pedestrian characteristics field survey and pedestrian signal operation survey. Pedestrian signal timings suggested were compared to the existing pedestrian signal timings by using real field data. pedestrian characteristics field survey was conducted to collect pedestrian crossing speed data and reaction time data. Sixteen areas in Seoul were selected for the data collection. The average pedestrian crossing speed was 1.30m/sec and the 15th Percentile speed was 1.11m/sec. The average reaction time was 2.24 seconds. Pedestrian crossing speed differs by land use, road width. pedestrian age, sex, and number of Pedestrians. Reaction time also differs by road width, pedestrian age, and number of pedestrians. Statistical testing was performed to secure reliability of the collected data.

  • Walking is the most basic personal mobility and its importance and concern is ever increasing with the highlighting of a new paradigm, such as transit oriented development, sustainable development and revitalization of green transport. The existing analytical research on pedestrian network is using a pedestrian's moving distance to a destination and integration in space syntax theory as its representative accessibility factors. However, the uniplanar network moving distance fails to reflect topographic characteristics, so the moving distance could show a similar result value in case of the regions for analysis that have a similar network structure to each other. Accordingly, the aim of this study is to suggest a new analytical methodology on pedestrian network accessibility in consideration of the grade in pedestrian sections and a pedestrian's size. this study, in its analysis of a uniplanar pedestrian network moving distance, analyzed the pedestrian network moving distance in consideration of the grade in pedestrian sections, and even the pedestrian network moving distance in consideration of a pedestrian's size, and suggested the methodology on pedestrian network accessibility analysis in consideration of a more substantive pedestrian's characteristics. It is hoped that the methodology used by this study will be used as the methodology on pedestrian network analysis which can reflect topographic characteristics in the pedestrian network analysis, and take a more substantive pedestrian's movement into account.

  • We analyzed pedestrian preference and features of preferential space by MDS (Multi Dimensional Scaling). As the result, features of pedestrian space in dimension 1 could be interpreted as "Segregation of Pedestrian and Vehicle", and features of pedestrian space in dimension 2 could be read like "Natural-City". And as a result of vector analysis about preferential of pedestrian, a pedestrian mall between housing complex, pedestrian space in pocket park, pedestrian space in neighborhood park, and pedestrian space around public facilities was the best preferential space. On the other hand, pedestrians tended to dislike pedestrian space between detached.

노인 보행자 통행특성 및 보행행태 연구

  • 우리나라 노년층의 교통사고 사망자와 보행 중 사망 비율은 증가하고 있으나 노년층을 대상으로 한 안전대책이나, 안전시설 및 보행환경 개선 등이 미비하다. 이에 본 연구에서는 과적인 노인보행자 교통안전대책을 마련할 수 있도록 기초자료를 제공하기 위하여 서울시와 경기도 지역의 5개 노인종합복지관을 이용하는 노년층을 대상으로 노년층 보행자의 통행실태 및 교통안전의식, 보행행태를 알아보기 위하여 설문을 실시하였다. 그 결과 노인의 50% 이상이 매일 외출하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 횡단보도를 건널 때 신호를 지키지 않는 차량으로 인하여 사고의 위험을 느끼며, 보행자 신호시간 부족하다고 응답하였다. 따라서 노인 보행자의 교통사고 예방을 위해서는 과속이나 신호위반이 잦은 곳에 과속 및 신호위반 단속카메라를 설치하고 도로폭이 넓은 곳에서는 보행섬을 설치하고 횡단보도의 보행자 신호시간 연장의 확대추진 등이 필요한 것으로 나타났다.

  • This study developed a methodology for estimating the fatality reduction by introducing technical regulation on pedestrian protection in pedestrian-vehicle collisions. Modeling a probabilistic pedestrian fatality model with logistic regression approach was one of keen interests, which employed in estimating the fatality reduction. Collision speed obtained from the accident reconstruction was used in the model development. The effects of fatality reduction, in case various Head Injury Criterion (HIC) and collision speeds are applied for the regulation. were presented as the major outcome of this study. It is expected that the outcome of this study would be an invaluable tool to assist in developing various technologies and policies for pedestrian protection.
