A study on the determination of substrata using the information of exponential response rate by simulation studies (모의실험을 기반으로 지수형 응답률 보정을 위한 세부 층 결정에 관한 연구)

  • Research on the application of informative sampling technique has been conducted in order to reduce the influence of non-response. Chung and Shin (Korean Journal of Applied Statistics, 30, 993-1004, 2017) showed that the estimation accuracy improved when using exponential response rate information for the parameter estimation if the distribution of errors included in the super population model follows normal distribution. However this method divides the stratum into equally spaced substrata to obtain the sample weight of the informative sampling technique and shows that the accuracy of the estimation improves as the number of substrata increases. In this study, with the given number of total sample size, the optimal substratum boundary points are calculated using equal space, quantile, and LH algorithm; consequently, the results using those methods are compared through simulation. We also studied the criteria to determine the number of substrata and substratum boundaries that can be used in practice with various types of auxiliary variable distributions.

  • The military leader makes an operation plan to accomplish combat missions. The current doctrine for an operation planning requires the use of simple and clear procedures and methods that can be carried out with human effort under adverse conditions in the field. The work in the process of an operation planning can be said to be a series of decision-making, and the criteria for decision-making generally apply mission variables. However, detailed standards are not fixed as doctrine, but are creatively established and applied. However, for AI-based decision-making, it is necessary to formalize the criteria and the format used. This paper first aims to standardize various criteria and forms to present a method that can be used in a semi-automated assist system, and to seek a plan to artificialize it. To this end, mathematical models and decision-making methods established in the field of operations research were applied to improve efficiency.

Development of Nano-liposome with Unsaturated Lecithin (불포화레시틴을 이용한 나노리포좀의 개발에 관한 연구)

  • In cosmetics, the saturated lecithin, one of the main surfactants to prepare liposome has been used for its stability but it has been substituting with unsaturated lecithin which has excellent skin affinity and penetration property. So we studied to prepare nano-liposome that size of particles were below than 50nm by unsaturated lecithin. It was important that many factors including solvent such as propylene glycol, pH balance, homogenizing pressure, various cosurfactants and stabilizers to make stable nano-liposome. In our experimental conditions, cosurfactants with stearate class as lipophilic part were more suitable than others for our purpose. But in liposome by saturated lecithin, cosurfactants had negative effect and appropriate amount of oil should be used to be stable. These results indicated that unsaturated lecithin were more suitable than saturated lecithin to prepare nano-liposome.

A Composite Estimator for the Take-Nothing Stratum of Cut-Off Sampling (복합추정량을 이용한 절사표본 총합 추정에 관한 연구)

  • Cut-off sampling that discards a part of the population from the sampling frame, is a widely used method for a highly skewed population like a business survey. Usually to the estimate of population total, we need to estimate the total of the take-nothing stratum. Many estimators have been developed to estimate the total of the take-nothing stratum. In this paper, we suggest a new composite estimator which combines the estimator suggested by Sarndal et al. (1992) and a ratio estimator obtained by small samples from the take-nothing stratum. Small simulation studies are performed for the comparison of the estimators and we confirm that the new suggested estimator is superior to the others.

  • A method for shape design sensitivity analysis for axisymmetric shells of general shapes is developed. The basic approach is to divide the structures into many segments : For each of the segments, the formula for a shallow arch or shell can be applied and the results assembled. To interconnect those segments, the existing sensitivity formula, obtained for a variation only in the direction perpendicular to the plane on which the structure is mapped, has been extended to include a variation normal to the middle surface. The method follows the adjoint variable approach based on the material derivative concept as established in the literature. Numerical examples are taken to illustrate the method and the applicability to practical design problems.

  • On the reliability of occlusal contact marks with occlusal indicators, it must be important to consider the affecting results of using methods. With affecting the accuracy and validity of results, there are many variables such as thickness and material of indicator, occlusal force, number of usage and etc. Nevertheless, researches on the occlusal contact marks have limited to focusing thickness of indicators and occlusal force. For the control of variables, it is clinically recommended to do use new indicators in every trial and to secure dry condition and to use thinner ones. In addition, alternatives might be helpful to understand more appropriate results.

  • 본 연구에서는 초음파 영상에서 간실질의 에코 명도를 비롯한 픽셀 정보분포를 분석하여 정량화 지방간 진단 파라미터를 구하기 위해 규준화 에코 명도 값 및 다수의 텍스쳐 파라미터 값을 추출하여 선형결합을 통해 지방간의 진행 정도와의 상관성을 연구하였다. 임상 지방간 지수와 본 연구의 추정 지방간 지표 값과의 선형 상관계수를 구하였다 신장대조 방법으로 추출한 규준화 에코 명도 및 회색도 픽셀분포의 텍스쳐 특성 파라미터를 계산하여 임상결과와 비교한 결과 임상 지방간 지수와 높은 상관성을 보임을 알 수 있었고, 지방간 진단의 보조사료로 유용함을 확인하였다. 계산된 지방간 지수와 임상결과 간의 선형상관계수는 0.84-0.93이다.

  • Identification method is formulated to evaluate the dynamic characteristics of air bearings under NFR(Near Field Recording) sliders. Impulse responses and frequency response functions of NFR sliders are obtained on numerical non-linear models including rigid motion of slider and fluid motion of air bearing under the slider. Modal parameters and system parameters are identified by modal analysis method and instrumental variable method. The parameters of sliders are utilized to evaluate the dynamic characteristics of air bearings. Also, this study shows the difference between the dynamic characteristics of NFR and HDD slides, and squeeze effect of air bearings.

Association of Liver Dysfunction with Self-Medication History in Korean Healthy Male Adults (건강한 한국 성인남성의 자가약물복용력에 따른 간기능 장애 발생여부 조사)

  • Background: Korean people could abuse healthy foods as well as medications, which might cause serious side effects. The aim of this study was elucidating liver dysfunction due to the self-medications of hepatotonics, healthy foods and herb medications by nested case-control study. Methods: Study subjects were drawn from male members of Seoul Cohort Study who were recruited by self-administered structured questionnaire survey through mailing to the healthy men between the age of 40 and 59 years through the program of biennial health check-up offered by Korea Medical Insurance Corporation(KMIC). The liver dysfunction was defined as the level of serum AST and ALT above 40 IU/L and increased in more than one hunderd per-cent during the 2 year follow-up period. To estimate the odds ratio between self-medication and liver dysfunction after controlling for potential confounders, logistic regression was performed. Results: During the follow-up period, 30 members were identified to fit into case criteria and 2,625 members were selected as control. In logistic regression analyses, history of healthy foods intake, age under 45 years, obesity, and habit of regular exercise were significantly associated with liver dysfunction. The following factors exhibited no statistical significance: intake of hepatotonics, of herb medicine; history of disease in family, of operation, and of radiologic examination; smoking habits and drinking amounts. Conclusion: The significant association between the intake of healthy foods and the liver dysfunction illustrates that chronically optional overuse of healthy foods might bring to hazards to health. As the increasing trend of the size of purchasing healthy foods in Korea, pharmacoepidemiologic studies evaluating the safety and efficacy of the widely used healthy foods should be performed in the near future.

  • Recently, Umbrella Arch Method(UAM), one of the auxiliary techniques for tunnelling, is used to reinforce the ground and improve stability of tunnel face. Because UAM combines the advantages of a modern forepoling system with the grouting injection method, this technique has been applied in subway, road and utility tunnel sites for the last few years in Korea. Also, several research results are reported on the examination of the roles of inserted pipes and grouted materials in UAM. But, because of its empirical design and construction methodology, more qualitative and systematic design sequences are needed. Therefore, above sequences using numerical analysis are proposed and, the effects of some design parameters were studied in this research. In order to acco,mplish these objects, first, the roles of pipe and grouting materials, steel-rib and the others in ground improving mechanism of UAM are clarified. Second, the effects of design parameters are investigated through parametric studies. Design parameters are as follows; 1) ground condition, 2) overburden, 3) geometrical formulation of pipes, 4) grouting region and 5) characteristics of pipes.
