  • In this paper we propose a method for authenticating the application that is to be downloaded or updated in smart cards. Previous works have some drawbacks such as having a long verification delay or requiring a large amount of primary/secondary storage. We propose an efficient parameterized scheme by using the hash chain technique where the secondary storage requirement and verification delay of updating the application are O(k) and O(k+n/k), respectively. Moreover, both the first storage requirement and verification delay of downloading the application are O(1).

  • For economic reasons, even though there are some security problems, the commands of re-initializing and writing patch code are widely used in smart cards. The current software tester has difficulty in detecting these trapdoor commands because trapdoors are not published and programmed sophisticatedly. Up to now the effective way to detect them is to completely reveal and analyze the entire code of the COS with applications such as the ITSEC. It is, however, a very time-consuming and expensive processes. We propose the new detecting approach of trapdoors in smart cards using timing and power analysis. With our experiments, this paper shows that the proposed approach is more practical than the current methods.

IMSX (Internet Messaging System based on XML)을 설계하였으며, 보안 위협으로부터 대응하기 위해 암호화(Encryption)와 전자서명(Digital Signature) 등의 메시지 레벨의 응용 보안을 적용하였다. 또한 문서 송신, 문서 수신, 검색, 문서 변환, 템플릿(Template) 제공, 보안 서비스 등을 선정하여 구현하였다.

  • User Authentication in Online service is essential for accurate and safe service. For this user authentication, One Time Password(OTP) is frequently used. To satisfy one-time-use characteristic of OTP, Offset information to generate OTP or final OTP value get generated through OTP generator or security card which could be lost. In this study, OTP generation method that bypasses OTP generator or security card by using health information collected from u-Health care system is proposed. Suggestion is that health information collected through wearable devices get utilized to offset information that are applied in OTP generations. OTP generated using suggested methods showed similar results than current OTP generation methods in the collision resistance test which tests how often it generate same authentication numbers, this implies that new proposed method can be applied to various on-line services.

  • OTP(One time password) is widely used as an authentication method for financial and other security-sensitive transactions. OTP provides strong security since each password is used only one time while normal password-based authentications use passwords as long term secrets. However, OTP-based authentications relatively lack usability since they require users to hold an OTP card or generator. To overcome such a problem, smartphones start replacing OTP cards and such a method is called smart OTP. However, smart OTP inherits security vulnerabilities that smartphones have. In this paper, we propose a smart OTP authentication based on an extremely light authentication protocol called HB+. HB+ protocol is developed for low-cost devices and has small communication and computation costs. We present our solution and discuss its security, efficiency and practicality. Our contribution is providing a method to securely use smart OTP without losing its efficiency and usability.

  • RFID is Playing a central role in ubiquitous technology according with the advent of the ubiquitous era, and the development of an RFID reader is also emerging as an important technical development field. In this paper, we developed a hardware system which is able to make use of the 13.56MHz RFID infrastructure being used as a transportation card, a credit card, and so on as well as the 125KHz RFID infrastructure being used in security company, and which is applicable to a location identification, an entrance and exit control, and security control over the TCP/IP communication. The existing local RFID methods have some problems which bottlenecks such as administrative problems, technical problems, and so force frequently occur because a casual server is placed and operated in a company. Hence, in this paper we developed an RFID multi reader which is connected to a central administrable server over the TCP/IP in order to solve these problems, and we make it be possible to keep an security control and be easy to install, transfer and administrate RFID infrastructures.

  • At present, RFID system is highly welcomed as a substitute system with its bar code recognition system and self recognition equipment. Consequently, the system has multi applications and can be complementing to its security. In particular, RFID system is significantly related with electronic transaction equipments : transportation card, ID card in check point, attendance sheet. Based upon these characteristic, the system is becoming extremely popular in the field of logistics, harbor and stock management, animal control and product circulation & distribution. In this dissertation, I would like to present a more efficient and stable remote entry control system with the network-based TCP/IP. It is a simple example of ubiquitous computing function. Above all, approved protocol system should be applied to the remote entry control function. Its efficient function with the applied approval protocol based-remote entry control system should be confirmed. Therefore, a preliminary test should be prerequisite in automatic entrance function with the embedded and TCP/IP-based RFID system.

  • In 2011, Das proposed an effective biometrics-based remote user authentication scheme using smart cards that can provide strong authentication and mutual authentication, while eliminating the security drawbacks of Li-Hwang's scheme. In this paper, we have shown that Das's scheme is still insecure against several attacks and does not provide mutual authentication. Also, we proposed the enhanced scheme to overcome these security weaknesses, even if the secret information stored in the smart card is revealed. As a result of security analysis, the enhanced scheme is secure against user impersonation attack, server masquerading attack, off-line password guessing attack, and insider attack. And we can see that the enhanced scheme provides mutual authentication between the user and the server.

  • AMR(Automatic Meter Reading), which means that it reads the meter of electricity, gas, or water, etc at a remote place automatically through wired or wireless communication, has been studied in terms of Power Line Communication method and Local Area Wireless Communication method, etc. In this paper, we designed and implemented JCA(Java Card for AMR) capable of AMR, which is based on java Card technology indispensable to the ubiquitous world. In this paper, JCA follows standard transactional procedures offered by power supply company and manages power usage log and billing data, and is designed in order to satisfy EMV multi-functional specifications. Because JCA is a multi-functional smart card capable of post-issuance applets as an open platform, it is installed into other applications of affiliated concerns as well as credit card and traffic card applications. Not only the proposed JCA is a low cost system, compared to other AMR systems, but is capable of paying rates in advance or later by applying authentication and security function of java Card. In addition the proposed JCA system can create value added services such as affiliated services with corporate alliance.

  • In this paper, I have proposed a secure dynamic ID allocation protocol using mutual authentication on the RFID tag. Currently, there are many security protocols focused on the low-price RFID tag. The conventional low-price tags have limitation of computing power and rewritability of memory. The proposed secure dynamic ID allocation protocol targets to the high-performance RFID tags which have more powerful performance than conventional low-price tag by allocating a dynamic ID to RFID using mutual authentication based on symmetric encryption algorithm. This protocol can be used as a partial solution for ID tracing and forgery.
