Development of W-band Transceiver Module using Manufactured MMIC (국내개발 MMIC칩을 적용한 W-Band 송수신모듈 개발)

  • The dual-channel receiver MMIC which is composed of LNA, Mixer, LO-amp and temperature compensation circuit is designed on a single chip. For the performance comparison, a FMCW radar transceiver module using commercial MMICs is also implemented. As a result, Multi-channel Transceiver using manufactured MMIC shows an improved performance such as noise figure and gain flatness compare to purchased MMIC.

Wireless Packet Scheduling Algorithm for Delay Proportional Internet Differentiated Services (무선 망에서의 지연 비례 인터넷 차별화 서비스 제공을 위한 스케줄링 알고리즘)

  • In this paper, we propose a wireless scheduling algorithm to provide the Internet delay proportional differentiated services in wireless networks. For considering network environments that have burst and location-dependent channel errors, our proposed WDPS(Wireless Delay Proportional Service) scheduling algorithm adaptively serves packets in class queues based on the delivered delay performance for each class. The remarkable characteristics of WDPS scheduler are supporting a fair relative delay service, providing graceful throughput and delay compensation, and avoiding class queue blocking problem. Through simulations, we show that the algorithm achieves the desirable properties to provide delay proportional services in wireless networks.

Effects of Multiple Threshold Values for PN Code Acquisition in DS-CDMA Systems (PN 코드 동기획득에서 다중 임계치의 효과)

  • In this paper, a decision method using multiple threshold values for PN code acquisition in Direct Sequence Code Division Multiple Access (DS-CDMA) systems is described. We apply this technique to the conventional double dwell serial search algorithm and analyze it in terms of mean code acquisition time. For the analysis, we present mathematical model of proposed algorithm and also perform the simulation under IMT-2000 channel models. Numerical results show that our proposed scheme outperforms the conventional one by 0.2 - 0.5 sec with respect to the mean code acquisition time because multiple threshold values mitigate the possible decline in search performance caused by the use of a single threshold.

  • The orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) technique and the single carrier with cyclic prefix (SC-CP) scheme are very attractive solutions for wireless applications, being computationally efficient since equalization is performed in the frequency domain. The equalizer could not entirely handle significant mean. Doppler shift. This motivates the use of a phase error tracking loop that operates jointly with the frequency equalizer. This paper describes the effect of the mean phase error and the performance of the proportional equalizer coupled with a phase error tracking loop based on decision-directed method. Furthermore, simulation results show that we can reduce the computational toad of the tracking loop with minimal performance degradation.

  • In this paper, we propose GFCC(gammatone filter frequency cepstrum coefficient) parameter which was based on the auditory characteristic for accomplishing better speech recognition rate. And it is performed the experiment of speech recognition for isolated word acquired from telephone network. For the purpose of comparing GFCC parameter with other parameter, the experiment of speech recognition are carried out using MFCC and LPCC parameter. Also, for each parameter, we are implemented CMS(cepstral mean subtraction)which was applied or not in order to compensate channel distortion in telephone network. Accordingly, we found that the recognition rate using GFCC parameter is better than other parameter in the experimental result.

  • Adaptive algorithms based on the criterion of zero-error probability (ZEP) have robustness to impulsive noise and their decision feedback (DF) versions are known to compensate effectively for severe multipath channel distortions. However the ZEP-DF algorithm computes several summation operations at each iteration time for each filter section and this plays an obstacle role in practical implementation. In this paper, the ZEP-DF with recursive gradient estimation (RGE) method is proposed and shown to reduce the computational burden of O(N) to a constant which is independent of the sample size N. Also the weight update of the initial state and the steady state is a continuous process without bringing about any propagation of gradient estimation error in DF structure.

Performance Analysis of GFSK Systems by Impulsive Electromagnetic Noise in Indoor Radio Fading Channel Environment (실내 무선 페이딩 채널 환경에서 임펄스성 전자간섭파에 의한 GFSK시스템의 성능 분석)

  • In this paper, we analyzed the performance of GFSK system that presence fading effect in indoor radio communication environments and impulsive electromagnetic noise from electronic equipments then we applied the Truncated Type- II Hybrid ARQ scheme to make satisfied in data transmission service. As a result, the system was influenced by fading and impulsive electromagnetic noise. Especially, the system was much degraded by high occurrence frequency and amplitude of impulsive electromagnetic noise than fading which has direct frequency. By adopting the Truncated Type-II hybrid ARQ technique we can also obtained the performance improvement in the low signal power(20 dB) arid over 24 dB in strong impulsive electromagnetic noise environment which is occurred error floor and terribly influenced by the system.

  • According to the development of Internet, DWDM system needs to improve the performance for long distance transmission international optical signals. For higher the transmission capacity, we have to raise the transmission speed and increase a number of channels. To make qualifications, there are a lot of technologies such as line coding, modulation, precious fiber, broadband amplification, dispersion and forward error correction. Especially, FEC has been considered as a progressive technology for long distance transmission to carry out high speed and large capacity traffic. This paper introduced the progress of each new generation of FEC and the way to employ by current system analyzed the coding gain.

  • This paper proposes a two-stage synchronization scheme using a serial search non-coherent correlator appropriate for the IEEE 802.15.4a system. The proposed method improved the synchronization performance by using multi-pulse signals unlike the conventional method using single-pulse signals. It also compensated for the degradation of performance at low SNR resulting from the use of fixed threshold by applying the adaptive threshold technique. The proposed method showed a detection probability that is higher by approximately 0.2-0.3 compared with the conventional method in the IEEE 802.15.4a channel model.

  • We present a fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensor system for measuring static and high-speed dynamic strains with a resolution of about $5\mu$strain. This sensor system demodulates signals from the FBG sensor utilizing a compensated tunable narrow bandpass filter. We have placed a set of twelve FBGs to concrete specimen and measured its internal stress under various applied load conditions.itions.
