Branch line directional coupler with coupled lines (결합 선로를 이용한 브랜치 선로 방향성 결합기)

  • Directional couplers are widely used in RF and microwave applications to distribute or monitor signals. This paper presented a new structure of microstrip branch line directional coupler with coupled lines. The loose couplings of microstrip branch line directional couplers are impractical for the high characteristic impedance values required for the shunt branches. To overcome this limitation, the parallel coupled lines with the shorts were used for the high characteristic impedance. The results of the simulations and measurements were presented for the proposed branch line directional coupler. Measurement of the 10 dB branch line directional coupler shows that the return loss is higher than 30 dB over 10 % bandwidth and the isolation is 35 dB or better over 8 % bandwidth.

A Study on High Speed Face Tracking using the GPGPU-based Depth Information (GPGPU 기반의 깊이 정보를 이용한 고속 얼굴 추적에 대한 연구)

  • In this paper, we propose an algorithm to detect and track the human face with a GPU-based high speed. Basically the detection algorithm uses the existing Adaboost algorithm but the search area is dramatically reduced by detecting movement and skin color region. Differently from detection process, tracking algorithm uses only depth information. Basically it uses a template matching method such that it searches a matched block to the template. Also, In order to fast track the face, it was computed in parallel using GPU about the template matching. Experimental results show that the GPU speed when compared with the CPU has been increased to up to 49 times.

Usefulness of RHadoop in Case of Healthcare Big Data Analysis (RHadoop을 이용한 보건의료 빅데이터 분석의 유효성)

  • R has become a popular analytics platform as it provides powerful analytic functions as well as visualizations. However, it has a weakness in which scalability is limited. As an alternative, the RHadoop package facilitates distributed processing of R programs under the Hadoop platform. This paper investigates usefulness of the RHadoop package when analyzing healthcare big data that is widely open in the internet space. To do this, this paper has compared analytic performances of R and RHadoop using the medical treatment records of year 2015 provided by National Health Insurance Service. The result shows that RHadoop effectively enhances processing performance of healthcare big data compared with R.

  • The core of the cloud computing technology is the data center in that the networking technology is important. Cloud data centers are comprised of tens or even hundreds of thousands of physical servers, so networking technology is required for high-speed data transfer. These networking technologies also require scalability, fault tolerance, and agility. For these requirements, many multi-path based schemes have been proposed. However, it was mainly used for load balancing of traffic and select a path randomly. In this paper, a scheme that can construct a multipath using software defined networking technology and transmit the traffic in parallel by using the multipath to achieve a fast transmission speed, solve the scalability problem and fault tolerance is proposed.

  • Hadoop Distributed File System(HDFS) is a file system for distributed processing of big data by replicating data to distributed data nodes. HDFS cluster shows a great scalability up to thousands of nodes, but it assumes a exclusive node cluster with numerous nodes for the big data processing. Various operational-purpose worker systems used by office are hardly considered as a part of cluster. This paper discusses this problem and proposes a dynamic cluster management technique to increase storage capability and analytic performance of hadoop cluster. The propsed technique can add legacy systems to the cluster and can remove them from the cluster dynamically depending on their availability.

  • Localization of a sensor network node using machine learning has been recently studied. It is easy for Support vector machines algorithm to implement in high level language enabling parallelism. In this paper, we realized Support vector machine using python language and built a sensor network cluster with 5 Pi's. We also established a Hadoop software framework to employ MapReduce mechanism. We modified the existing Support vector machine algorithm to fit into the distributed hadoop architecture system for localization of a sensor node. In our experiment, we implemented the test sensor network with a variety of parameters and examined based on proficiency, resource evaluation, and processing time.

  • In this paper, Power Generator modeling for LNG ship has been performed and monitoring system has been developed in MATLAB/SIMULINK. The principal component of Power Generator are engine part(Diesel Engine, Turbine Engine) which provides the mechanical power and synchronous generator which convert the mechanical power into electrical power. Also, load sharing between paralleled generators has been performed to share a total load that exceeds the capacity of a single generator and designated ship lumped load simulations have been carried out. A validity of these systems has been verified by comparison between simulation results and estimated result from the designated lumped load.

  • As a fiiting method to data with outliers, RANSAC(RANdom SAmple Consensus) based algorithm is widely used in fitting of line, circle, ellipse, etc. CUDA is currently most widely used GPU with massive parallel processing capability. This paper proposes an efficient CUDA implementation of multiple planes fitting using RANSAC with 3d points data, of which one set of 3d points is used for one plane fitting. The performance of the proposed algorithm is demonstrated compared with CPU implementation using both artificially generated data and real 3d heights data of a PCB. The speed-up of the algorithm over CPU seems to be higher in data with lower inlier ratio, more planes to fit, and more points per plane fitting. This method can be easily applied to a wide variety of other fitting applications.

  • Recently, it has become a social problem due to fine particles. There are more people wearing masks, weather alerts and disaster notices. Research and policy are actively underway. Meteorologically, the biggest damage caused by fine particles is the inversion layer phenomenon. In this study, we designed a system to warn fine Particles by analyzing inversion layer and wind direction. This weather information system proposes a system that can efficiently perform scalability and parallel processing by using OGC sensor web enablement system and NoSQL storage for sensor control and data exchange.

  • Recently, drones are being used in various fields, and drone technology is also developing. The risks of drones are increasing, then technology to detect drones is important. However, it is extremely difficult to detect and recognize drones due to the low level radar cross section of the commercial drones. In this paper, a signal processor structure that was mounted the miniaturized and light-weighted was designed. in order to process large amounts of data in real time, parallel processing was performed for each channel and an algorithm was applied to shorten the operation time in each step. As a test of verifing the detection performance through test, it was confirmed that the structure design works in real time.
