A Study of Fluid Structure Interaction Analysis and Coating Characteristics of a Two-stage Pressure Reduction Hydrogen Regulator (2단 감압 수소레귤레이터의 연성해석 및 도금특성에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, shape design and material selection were carried out for a two-stage pressure-reducing regulator to compensate for the shortcomings of a one-stage mechanical decompression regulator. The shape of the contact surface of the depressurization unit was considered, material was selected, and the shape was designed to compensate for the pulsation and slow response through the two-stage decompression and to solve the problem of high pressure deviation. In terms of airtightness, the deformation amount of TPU showed a small amount of displacement of up to 15.82%. Considering the fact that it is applicable to various hydrogen fuel supply systems by securing universality by applying electronic solenoids to the second pressure reduction, magnetic materials were selected. The hydrogen embrittlement and corrosion resistance were evaluated to verify the plating process. Surface corrosion did not occur in only the case of Cr plating. The elongation during the corrosion process was compared using a tensile test, and there was a difference within 2%.

Dynamic Characteristic of the Seismic Performance of Uninterruptible Power Supply with Combined Isolator Using Shaking Table Test (복합면진장치를 적용한 무정전전원장치의 1축 진동대실험 기반 동적특성 분석)

  • In this study, three types of combined isolator consisting of High Damping Rubber Bearing (HDRB) and wire isolator were developed for Uninterruptible Power Supply system (UPS). The dynamic characteristics of the combined isolator were investigated through one-axis shaking table test. The input acceleration were generated in accordance with ICC-ES AC156 code. Scale factors of the input acceleration were designed to be 0.5-2 times the required response spectrum defined in ICC-ES AC156. Based on the test results, damage and dynamic characteristics of the UPS were investigated: including natural frequency, damping ratio, acceleration time history response, dynamic amplification factor and relative displacement. Based on that, it was found that the combined isolator developed in this study could improve the seismic behavior of the UPS, in particular, the response acceleration.

Seismic Stability Evaluation of Sand Ground with Organic Soil by Using Shaking Table Test (진동대 시험을 이용한 유기질토가 협재된 모래지반의 내진 안정성 평가)

  • The Gangneung region has an environment suitable for the formation of organic soil, and there is an alluvial layer in which sedimentary sand layers are distributed on the upper and lower parts of the organic soil. In order to evaluate the seismic safety of the railway roadbed passing through the Gangneung area, a railway roadbed and ground model considering the similarity ratio was fabricated, a shaking table test was conducted, and the seismic stability was evaluated by comparing the effective stress analysis results. The applied seismic waves were artificial seismic waves, Gyeongju seismic waves, Borah seismic waves, Nahanni seismic waves, and Tabas seismic waves. It became. Due to the ground reinforcement effect by jet grouting applied to the lower ground of the new roadbed, the displacement of the new roadbed was found to be reduced from a minimum of 33.7% to a maximum of 56.7% compared to the existing roadbed. The shaking table test results were verified by effective stress analysis using the Finn model of the Flac program, and showed a similar trend to the shaking table test values.

  • Slope stability analysis is a geotechnical engineering problem characterized by many sources of uncertainty. Some of them are connected to the uncertainties of soil properties involved in the analysis. In this paper, a numerical procedure for integrating commercial finite difference method into probabilistic analysis of slope stability is presented. Since the limit-state function cannot be expressed in an explicit form, the ANN-based response surface method is adopted to approximate the limit-state function and the first-, second-order reliability method and the Monte Carlo simulation technique are used to calculate the probability of failure. Probabilistic stability assessments for a hypothetical two-layer slope and the Sugar Creek embankment were performed to verify the application potential to the slope stability problems. The examples show the successful implementation and the possibility of the extension of the proposed procedure to the variety of geotechnical engineering problems.

Verification of Behavior Characteristics of Precompression Polyurethane Damper Using Superelastic Shape Memory Alloy (초탄성 형상기억합금을 적용한 선행압축 폴리우레탄 댐퍼의 거동 특성 검증)

  • Among the seismic structures for reducing earthquake damage, the seismic control structure is a technology that can efficiently improve seismic performance and secure economic feasibility by simply applying a damper. However, existing dampers have limitations in terms of durability due to required seismic performance and material plasticity. In this study, we proposed a polyurethane damper with enhanced recovery characteristics by applying precompression to polyurethane, which basically shows elastic characteristics, and applying superelastic shape memory alloy (SSMA). To verify the characteristics of the polyurethane damper, the concept was first established, and the design details were completed by selecting SSMA and steel, and selecting the precompression size as design variables. In addition, structural tests were conducted to derive response behavior and analyze force resistance performance, residual displacement, recovery rate, and energy dissipation capacity. As a result of the analysis, the polyurethane damper showed that various performances improved when the SSMA wire was applied and the precompression increased.

The Stochastic Finite Element Analysis and Reliability Analysis of the Cable Stayed Bridge Considered to Correlation of the Random Variable (확률변수의 상관성을 고려한 사장교의 확률유한요소해석 및 신뢰성해석)

  • The reliability analysis can be conducted more effectively by formulating the stochastic finite element method suitable for the reliability theory about the cable stayed bridge. After conducting the initial equilibrium analysis of the cable stayed bridge, the program which can conduct the linear and nonlinear stochastic finite element analysis using the perturbation method and the reliability analysis considered to the correlation of the random variable is developed. Using the results of this program about the cable stayed bridge, the characteristic of the node displacement, element force and cable tension according to the correlation of the random variable is investigated quantitatively. Also the reliability index and the failure probability are examined by the compounding the correlation of the random variable.

A Study on Transferred Load Reduction on Paved Track Roadbed with Low Elastic Base Plate Pad (저탄성 베이스플레이트 패드 적용에 따른 포장궤도 노반에서의 전달하중 저감에 관한 연구)

  • Development of the paved track is required as a low-maintenance of conventional line. The paved tracks are one of the types of the ballast reinforced tracks those are manufactured by adopting the prepacked concrete technique. The main elements of this tracks are large sleeper, low elastic pad, fastener, cement mortar, geotextile and recycled ballast. Low elastic pad is the most effective element of such tracks on the basis of stress-displacement characteristics, dynamic response and fatigue characteristics. The stiffness of the pad determine the stiffness of the track. Consequently, it is more important in case of concrete track structure such as paved track because application of low elastic pad seriously effect the durability and stability of the track. The main objective of this study is to confirm the reduction of train load, which transfer to roadbed through various pad effects. To achieve this task static, numerical analysis and real scale repeated loading test was performed while load reduction effect of low elastic pad was analyzed by using displacement, stress and strain ratio characteristics of the paved track.

Improved Modal Pushover Analysis of Multi-span Continuous Bridge Structures (다경간 연속 교량 구조물의 지진응답 평가를 위한 개선된 모드별 비탄성 정적 해석법에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, a simple but effective analysis procedure to estimate seismic capacities of multi-span continuous bridge structures is proposed on the basis of modal pushover analysis considering all the dynamic modes of structure. Unlike previous studies, the proposed method eliminates the coupling effects induced from the direct application of modal decomposition by introducing an identical stiffness ratio and an approximate elastic deformed shape. Moreover, in addition to these two introductions, the use of an appropriate distributed load {P} makes it possible to predict the dynamic responses for all kinds of bridge structures through a simpler analysis procedure. Finally, in order to establish the validity and applicability of the proposed method, correlation studies between rigorous nonlinear time history analysis and the proposed method are conducted for multi-span continuous bridges.

  • A seismic structure is an earthquake-resistant design that dissipates seismic energy by equipping the structure with a device called a damper. As research efforts to reduce earthquake damage continue to rise, technology for isolating vibrations in structures has evolved by altering the materials and shapes of dampers. However, due to the inherent nature of the damper, there are an unescapable restrictions on the extent of plastic deformation that occurs in the material to effectively dissipate energy. Therefore, in this study, we proposed a long-life damper that offers semi-permanently usage and enhances structural performance by applying additional tension which is achieved by utilizing super elastic shape memory alloy (SSMA), a material that self-recovers after deformation. To comprehensively understand the behavior of long-life dampers, finite element analysis was performed considering the design variables such as material, wire diameter, and presence of tension, and response behavior was derived to analyze characteristics such as load resistance, energy dissipation, and residual displacement to determine the performance of long-life dampers in seismic structure. Excellence has been proven from finite element analysis results.

Analysis of RC Beams Strengthened with Fiber Sheets (섬유시트로 보강된 RC 보의 해석기법 연구)

  • This paper presents a nonlinear analysis method for the reinforced concrete beams strengthened by the external bonding of high strength, lightweight fiber sheets on the tension face of the beams. The method is based on the results of experimental studies. The experimental study involved tensile tests of 120 specimens to evaluate the tensile properties of fiber sheets(carbon, glass, and aramid fiber) and bending tests of 75 beams strengthened with various types of fiber sheets to evaluate the flexural capacities. Based on these experimental results, reasonable rupture strains of the fiber sheets were estimated. The nonlinear flexural analysis considered nonlinear flexural stresses as compressive and tensile stresses of concrete, load-deflection curves, and rupture strains of fiber sheets. The nonlinear flexural analysis accurately predicts the load-deflection response and the flexural behavior of the retrofitted beams.
