The Coefficients of Variation Characteristic of Stress Distribution in Silty Sand by Probabilistic Load (확률론적 하중에 따른 실트질 모래지반 내 지중응력의 변동계수 특성)

  • Recently, Load and Resistance Factor Design (LRFD) based on reliability analysis has become a global trend for economical and rational design. In order to implement the LRFD, quantification of uncertainty for load and resistance should be done. The reliability of result relies on input variable, and therefore, it is important to obtain exact uncertainty properties of load and resistance. Since soil stress is the main reason causing the settlement or deformation of ground and load on the underground structure, it is essential to clarify the uncertainty of soil stress distribution for accurately predict the uncertainty of load in LRFD. In this study, laboratory model test on silty sand bed under probabilistic load is performed to observe propagation of upper load uncertainty. The results show that the coefficient of variation (COV) of soil stress are varied depending on location due to non-linear relationship between upper load increment and soil pressure increment. In addition, when the load uncertainty is transmitted through ground, COV is decreased by damping effect.

  • It is desirable to predict springback quantitatively and accurately for the tool and process design in sheet stamping operations, however, it is blown very difficult. The result of springback analysis by the finite element method is sensitively influenced by numerical factors such as blank element size, number of integration point, punch velocity, contact algorithm etc. In the present work, a parametric study by Taguchi method is performed in order to evaluate the influence of numerical factors on springback Quantitatively and to obtain the combination of numerical factors which yields the best approximation to experimental data. Since springback is determined by the residual stress after forming process, it is important to evaluate stress distribution accurately. The oscillation in the time history curve of stress obtained by explicit FEM says that the stress solution at termination time is in very unstable state. Therefore, a variability study is also carried out in this study in order to assess the stability of implicit springback analysis starting from the stress solution by explicit forming simulation. The 2D draw bending process, one of the NUMISHEET '93 benchmark problems, is adopted as an application model.

  • 현재 국내에서 사용하고 있는 교량구조물의 성능평가방법으로는 크게 공용하중에 대한 내하율을 구하기 위하여 허용응력개념이나 강도설계 개념을 적용한 내하력 평가 기법이 사용되고 있다. 그러나 위의 방법들은 일반적으로 공용연수의 경과에 따른 재료 및 구조적 성능의 손실과 여러 가지 하중 및 환경적 요인들의 불확실성으로 인하여 발생하는 손상 및 열화를 반영하기 어렵다. 그리고 제원 및 재료물성치의 불확실성에 대한 기존 설계 자료의 DB 부족으로 기존의 평가방법에서는 이러한 시간의 경과에 따른 성능저하를 정확히 산정할 수 없어 이론상의 값과 실제 구조물과의 차이로 인한 불확실성이 존재 한다. 이에 본 연구에서는 공용년수 경과에 따른 시설물의 재료 구조적인 성능 및 거동분석 수행, 신뢰성 해석 수행을 바탕으로 교량 안전성 평가의 합리성 및 현실성을 제고하며, 구조 신뢰성 해석을 수행함으로써 실제 구조물의 강도 한계상태에 대한 파괴확률을 산정하고 그에 대응하는 위험도를 평가함으로써 안전성 검토를 수행하였다. 본 실험을 통해 1. 재료 강도, 부재 제원, 긴장력, 작용하중 등에 있어 설계 시 가정과 실제 사용 환경 사이의 변동성이 존재한다는 것을 알 수 있었으며, 2. 연구 수행 결과 일반 정밀진단 및 해석에서는 얻을 수 없는 다양하고 중요한 결과를 산출할 수 있었으며 이러한 연구 결과를 바탕으로 개선된 성능평가 기법이 제안 될 수 있음을 알 수 있었다.

Shear Behavior Prediction of Reinforced Concrete Beams by Transformation Angle Truss Model Considered Bending Moment Effect (휨모멘트 효과가 고려된 변환각 트러스 모델에 의한 철근콘크리트 보의 전단거동 예측)

  • For the prediction of shear behavior of reinforced concrete beams, this paper proposed Transformation Angle Truss Model (TATM) considered bending moment effect. Shear stress-strain relationship obtained from the TATM was agreed well with test results conducted by this study Further, shear strength obtained from the TATM was compared to the experimentally observed results of 170 reinforced concrete beams which had various shear span ratios shapes of support and shapes of cross section. The shear strength of reinforced concrete beams obtained from test was better predicted by the TATM with 0.96 in average and 11.9% in coefficient of variation than by other truss models. And the ratio of experimental results to theoretical results obtained from the TATM was almost constant regardless of the η and a/d.

  • The increasing needs for higher cargo capacity in the container vessels' fleet has led to ship builder's demand for higher power output rating engine to meet the propulsion requirement, thus, leading to the development of super large two stroke low speed diesel engines. This large sized bore engines with more than 12 cylinders are capable of delivering power output up to more than 100,000 bhp at maximum continuous rating. The thrust variation force due to axial vibration occurring in propulsion shafting of these ships are transmitted to ship structure via thrust bearing. This force may vibrate the super structure of ship in the fore-aft direction and the fatigue strength of crank shaft can be decreased by additional bending stress increase in crank shaft pin and journal. In this paper, the axial vibration of propulsion shafting system on the 14RT-flex96C super large diesel engine with 14 cylinders is identified by theoretical analysis and vibration measurement.

  • To find out moving and dissipation patterns of laid floating object estuary this paper has focused on forming, changing and variation of the wind forced river plume. In steady state(without external force), river can be form a bulge and downcoast alongshore current on gently sloped continental shelf. Under the downwelling wind and downcoast meanflow those river plume's patterns are similar with the steady state case except enhancement of downcoast transportation. Under the upwelling wind condition bulge linearly move to the northwest with 45 angle due to Ekman transport. It's moving speed are linear with the strength of the wind stress but moving paths are independent of that. So, in this case, floating object will be dissipate to outside as move to the upcoast.

  • Two-dimensional turbulent wake flow behind a circular cylinder is investigated experimentally by suing linearized constant temperature hot wire anemometer. Turbulent fluctuations and mean velocity defects are measured in the rage of 5 dia.- 500 dia. downstream from the cylinder and for the Reynolds numbers of 2000-4000. Results with statistical treatment and digital data processing techniques are as follows: (1) The transition region from near wake to far wake is 30 dia. - 50 dia. downstream from the cylinder. (2) In the near wake, it is found that strong periodic ( f=845Hz) coherent structure exists. (3) It shows that the inertial subrange is 180Hz-2000Hz in self preservation region.

  • Aluminum carbody for rolling stocks is light and perfectly recycled, but includes severe defects which are very dangerous to fatigue strength. Structural integrity assessment for the carbody by static load test has been performed up to date. In this study, to evaluate fatigue strength of the aluminum carbody of urban transit unit. a testing method to simulate dynamic loading condition was proposed and the fatigue strength of the carbody was evaluated. The dynamic load test results showed that the alternating stress ranges were different from the estimated ranges based on the static test results. Excessive stress ranges at the center are thought to come from the flexible motion of the carbody. published fatigue test data for aluminum components, but variation of alternating acceleration along the length due to flexibility of carbody yielded unexpected results. Because fatigue strength based on the static test results may be overestimated at the center, modification of testing method is necessary.

Three-Dimensional Numerical Analysis of Surface Buoyant Jets (표층밀도분류의 3차원 수치해석)

  • A three-dimensional numerical model with free water surface was established to investigate flow characteristics of surface buoyant jets and river plumes. Turbulent shear stresses and turbulent buoyancy fluxes were expressed in terms of the eddy viscosities and diffusivities. Stable stratification effects due to density difference between discharged water and receiving ambient water were taken into with empirical formulae. Through a comparison of numerical results with published experimental data the validity of the model was shown and the optimal stratification functions was determined The three-dimensional spreading characteristics were examined and the effects of inlet densimetric Froude number, inlet aspect ratio and water surface elevation on the flow development were discussed.

  • 지표수 수자원은 다른 형태의 수자원에 비하여 경제성은 우수하나 환경 훼손, 시공간적 변동성에 대한 취약성, 각종 수질 위협요소에 노출되는 단점 을 가지고 있다. 지표수 수자원과는 달리 Aquifer Storage Transportation and Recovery (ASTR) System을 이용한 지하저수지는 수자원의 안전한 확보, 환경문제 등의 측면에서 새로운 대안으로 제시되고 있다. '청정지하저수지연구단'에서 연구하고 있는 '대규모청정지하저수지'는 피압대수층에 담수를 주입하여 형성된 담수체를 수자원으로 이용한다. 본 연구는 피압대수층 주입정 및 양수정 운영에 따른 지반영향을 연구하였다. 과거 지반변형을 고려하지 않은 무분별한 피압대수층의 지하수 개발로 태국, 중국 등지에서 심각한 지반침하를 야기하였으며 이에 대한 대책으로 인공함양이 이루어진바 있다. 피압대수층 상부에 위치한 점토층은 지반변형에 가장 큰 영향을 미치며 점토층의 변형 혹은 파괴 시 지하수 이용 및 인간의 활동에도 영향을 끼칠 수가 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 주입 및 양수가 점토층에 미치는 영향을 분석하고 지반변형을 허용 범위 내로 국한시키기 위해서 피압대수층에 가할 수 있는 최대 수위변화량을 산정하는 데 있다. 양수로 수두가 감소하는 경우 유효응력 증가에 따른 지반침하가 우려되며, 주입으로 수두가 상승하는 경우 지반파괴가 야기될 수 있다.
