Survey on the Mean Opinion Scores on the Sound Level of Mobile Phone Ring Tones (이동전화 벨소리 소음에 대한 호감도 조사)

  • Noise can be defined as any undesired or loud sound. The sound level of mobile phone ring tones could be considered as noise if it is too loud on a specific situation. To classify a specific sound level of mobile phone ring tones as noise, it is useful to evaluate the mean opinion scores(MOS) on sound levels under some specific situations. The paper evaluates MOS on various sound levels (in dBA) of mobile phone ring tones, types of ring tone(bell/melody), and gender(male/female), location (street/office).

  • Recent growth of ring-tone and ring-back-tone download market as the derived market of cellular phone yields the new trend in music consumption from listening to display. This means that consumer purchase the ring-tone and RBT not for his appreciation but for counterpart's consumption, in a word, conspicuous consumption. Study aims at questions on whether cellular phone user can perceive the ring-tone and RBT's brand personality and how they express their self-image via ring-tone and RBT. Survey was administered for 196 college students who is dominant purchase group of market segment. Hypotheses are such as : congruity of self image and brand personality of ring-tone and RBT. Through the T-test, findings said that user's extrovert self image are not led to ring-tone's extrovert brand personality and user's introvert self image are not led to introvert ring-tone's brand personality of ringtone. same result was applicable to RTB. Cellular phone user's purchase behavior are different from those of product and service.

Preliminary Study on Human Sensibility Evaluation of Ringtone in Mobile Phone (휴대폰의 벨소리 감성만족도 평가를 위한 예비연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to find whether there is sound quality difference among mobile service providers in terms of ringtone in mobile phones, and identify factors that contribute to the difference of sound quality. A series of experiments were performed to identify the source of sound difference while controlling brand factor of the leading company. Mobile service provider, phone manufacturer, phone model variation, specific music genre and contents provider factors were examined. The results showed there was sound quality difference among mobile service providers. The difference comes from mobile phones provided to service provider and sound contents. There was difference in sound quality among same models that provided to different service providers. The different sound making process contributed to the difference of sound quality. The genre effect was not clear. To complement the limitation of samples used, an interview with the sound expert of mobile device was performed. The results showed hardware parts used and careful tuning of the device can influence to the sound quality of the mobile phone.

  • 최근 스마트 폰의 사용이 보편화 되어 생활은 편리해졌다, 하지만 스마트 폰의 사용으로 인해 남에게 폐를 끼치게 되는 상황 또한 종종 발생하곤 한다. 본 프로젝트는 이러한 상황 중 하나인 벨소리 문제를 예방하고자 GPS 기반의 스마트 폰 소리모드 전환 시스템을 구현하였다. 설정된 시간이 되거나 저장되어 있던 위치에 진입하면 자동으로 소리모드를 미리 설정한 진동 혹은 무음모드로 전환하고 해당 데이터에서 벗어나면 기능 실행 직전의 소리모드로 돌아가는 것을 가능하게 하였다.

  • Mobile phone is necessary articles by increasing mobile communication now. People usually use the Mobile phone in any time and place. Ring tone of Mobile phone effect owner or other person. The sound level of Mobile phone ring tone could be considered as noise if it is too loud a specific situation. Manufacturing company improve ring tone of mobile phone better in consumer's perception. In this study, we record ring tone of mobile phone and estimated the complexity and nonlinear characteristics of the relation between subjective evaluation and sound metrics. Linear regression models were obtained for the subjective evaluation and sound quality metrics. Semantic Differential Method is used to study sound quality Evaluation.   • The deaf can not recognize useful sound informations such as alarm, doorbell, siren, car horn, and phone ring etc., because they have the hearing impairment. To solve this problems, portable hearing assistive devices which have suitable environment sound recognition methods are needed. In this paper, the DTW algorithm for sound recognition system with new active slope weighting constraint method was proposed. The environment sound recognition methods consist of three processes. First process is extraction of start point and end point using frequency and amplitude of sound. Second process is extraction of features and third process is classification of features for given segments. As a result of the experiment, the recognition rate of the proposed method is over 90%. And, the recognition rate of the proposed method increased about 20% than the conventional algorithm. Therefore if there are developed portable assistive devices which use developed method to recognize environment sound for hearing-impaired persons, they could be more convenient in life.
