Fuzzy-based Segment-Boost Method for Effective Face Recognition (퍼지기반 Segment-Boost 방법을 통한 효과적인 얼굴인식)

  • This paper suggests fuzzy-based Segment-Boost method and an effective method for face recognition using the fuzzy-based Segment-Boost. Fuzzy-based Segment-Boost eliminates the limitations of Segment-Boost, and it guarantees improved learning performance and the stability of the performance. By using the fuzzy theory, fuzzy-based Segment-Boost optimizes the selection number of sub-vectors, and leads the optimized learning performance. The fuzzy controller designed in this paper measures learning performance of the fuzzy-based Segment-Boost, and it controls the selection number of sub-vectors by inferring the optimized selection number. The simulation results show that the fuzzy controller inferred the selection number which is very approximate to the true optimized value. As a result, fuzzy-based Segment-Boost showed higher face recognition rate than compared boosting methods and it preserves the velocity of feature selection as fast as that of Segment-Boost. From the experimental results, it was proved that fuzzy-based Segment-Boost has improved and stable performances of learning, feature selection and face recognition.

Efficient Coding of Motion Vector and Mode Information for H.264/AVC (H.264/AVC에서 효율적인 움직임 벡터와 모드 정보의 압축)

  • The portion of header in H.264 gets higher than those of previous standards instead of its better compression efficiency. Therefore, this paper proposes a new technique to compress the header of H.264. Unifying a sentence elementary in H.264, H.264 does not consider the distribution of element which be encoded and uses existing Exp-Golomb method, but it is uneffective for variable length coding. Most of the header are block type(s) and motion vector difference(s), and there are redundancies in the header of H.264. The redundancies in the header of H.264 which are analyzed in this paper are three. There are frequently appearing symbols and non-frequently appearing symbols in block types. And when mode 8 is selected in macroblock, all of four sub-macroblock types are transferred. At last, same values come in motion vector difference, especially '0.' This paper proposes the algorithm using type code and quadtree, and with them presents the redundant information of header in H.264. The type code indicates shape of the macroblock and the quadtree does the tree structured motion compensation. Experimental results show that proposed algorithm achieves lower total number of encoded bits over JM12.4 up to 32.51% bit reduction.

  • River and groundwater stages are the main elements in the hydrologic cycle. They are spatially correlated and can be used to evaluate hydrological and agricultural drought. Stochastic simulation is often performed independently on hydrological variables that are spatiotemporally correlated. In this setting, interdependency across mutual variables may not be maintained. This study proposes the Bayesian vector autoregression model (VAR) to capture the interdependency between multiple variables over time. VAR models systematically consider the lagged stages of each variable and the lagged values of the other variables. Further, an autoregressive model (AR) was built and compared with the VAR model. It was confirmed that the VAR model was more effective in reproducing observed interdependency (or cross-correlation) between river and ground stages, while the AR generally underestimated that of the observed.

  • The accurate estimation of construction cost is important to a successful development in construction projects. In previous studies, the construction cost are estimated by statistical methods. Among the statistical methods, support vector regression (SVR) has attracted a lot of attentions because of the generalization ability in the field of cost estimation. However, despite the simplicity of the parameter to be adjusted, it is not easy to find optimal parameters. Therefore, to build an effective SVR model, SVR's parameters must be set properly without additional data handling loads. So this study proposes a novel approach, known as genetic algorithm (GA), which searches SVR's optimal parameters, then adopt the parameters to the SVR model for estimating cost in the early stage of apartment housing projects. The aim of this study is to propose a GA-SVR model and examine the feasibility in cost estimation by comparing with multiple regression analysis (MRA). The experimental results demonstrate the estimating performance based on the percentage of estimations within 25% and find it can effectively do the accurate estimation without through the trial and error process.

  • A vector algorithm for calculating the stiffness matrices of reinforced concrete shell elements is presented. The algorithm is based on establishing vector lengths equal to the number of elements. The computational efficiency of the proposed algorithm is assessed on a Cray Y-MP supercomputer. It is shown that the vector algorithm achieves scalar-to-vector speedup of 1.7 to 7.6 on three inelastic problems.

  • 축어긋남이 존재하는 회전체-볼베어링계의 진동을 묘사할 수 있는 모델을 개발하였다. 축어긋남은 운동 방정식에서 축과 베어링에서의 변위벡터 변화로 묘사되고, 이로 인해 커플링과 베어링에 작용하는 힘과 모멘트는 축어긋남의 효과로서 고려되었다. 축의 유연성을 고려하기 위해 축방향의 동력학을 포함한 축과 원판에 대한 유한 요소 모델을 이용하였으며, 원판과 베어링에서의 불균형 응답으로부터 축어긋남과 관련된 진동특성을 조사하였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 에이전트 기반 지리정보시스템(Geographic Information System) 구조 설계 개념에 대해 기술한다. 본 구조의 본체론 관련 GIS 분야 에이전트들 사이에 정보 교환에 필요한 세 가지 구성요소가 있는데 첫째는, 벡터, 래스터, 이미지를 포함하는 데이터이며 둘째로, 이름, 입력, 출력 및 요구 파라미터를 포함하는 알고리즘 명세이고 셋째로, 질의 및 결과 정보가 그 마지막이다. 에이전트 통신 언어(Agent Communication Language)는 에이전트들 간의 통신의 기반으로 제공된 본체론을 사용한다. 본체론과 ACL은 분산 다중-에이전트 GIS 시스템의 에이전트 통신에 있어 중심적 역할을 하고 extensible Markup Language(XML)를 이용한 Resource Description Framiework(RDF)로 인코딩 되며 공동작업과 재사용을 지원할 수 있다

  • This paper describes a recent development on the divergence free basis function based on a hermite stream function. The well-known cavity problem has been used to compare the accuracy and the convergence of the present method with those of a modified residual method known as one of the stabilized finite element methods. The comparison showed the present method performs better in the accuracy and convergence.

  • The eddy currents of 3-dimensional conductin medium are calculated using vectorial Boundary element Method with vector variables E and H. Boundary edge basis vectors are used to expand the tangential components of E and H fields. Especially for axisymmetric conductor the computer storage and the computation time are greatly saved with the help of block-circulant boundary meshes. to verify this method eddy currents of conducting sphere are computed and show good agreements with the analytic solutions.
