A Distributed High Dimensional Indexing Structure for Content-based Retrieval of Large Scale Data (대용량 데이터의 내용 기반 검색을 위한 분산 고차원 색인 구조)

  • Although conventional index structures provide various nearest-neighbor search algorithms for high-dimensional data, there are additional requirements to increase search performances as well as to support index scalability for large scale data. To support these requirements, we propose a distributed high-dimensional indexing structure based on cluster systems, called a Distributed Vector Approximation-tree (DVA-tree), which is a two-level structure consisting of a hybrid spill-tree and VA-files. We also describe the algorithms used for constructing the DVA-tree over multiple machines and performing distributed k-nearest neighbors (NN) searches. To evaluate the performance of the DVA-tree, we conduct an experimental study using both real and synthetic datasets. The results show that our proposed method contributes to significant performance advantages over existing index structures on difference kinds of datasets.

Motion Estimation Algorithm Using Variance and Adaptive Search Range for Frame Rate Up-Conversion (프레임 율 향상을 위한 분산 및 적응적 탐색영역을 이용한 움직임 추정 알고리듬)

  • In this paper, we propose a new motion estimation algorithm for frame rate up-conversion. The proposed algorithm uses the variance of errors in addition to SAD in motion estimation to find more accurate motion vectors. Then, it decides which motion vectors are wrong using the variance of neighbor motion vectors and the variance between current motion vector and neighbor's average motion vector. Next, incorrect motion vectors are corrected by weighted sum of eight neighbor motion vectors. Additionally, we propose adaptive search range algorithm, so we can find more accurate motion vectors and reduce computational complexity at the same time. As a result, proposed algorithm improves the average peak signal-to-noise ratio and structural similarity up to 1.44 dB and 0.129, respectively, compared with previous algorithms.

  • Information visualization in information retrieval is a creating tool that enables us to observe, manipulate, search, navigate, explore, filter, discover, understand, interact with large volumes of data for more rapidly and far more effectively to discover hidden patterns. The focus of this study is to investigate and analyze information visualization techniques in information retrieval system in the three-schematic levels. In result, it was found that first, scientific data, documents, and retrieval result information are visualized through various techniques. Second, information visualization techniques which facilitate navigation and interaction are zoom and pan, focus+context techniques, incremental exploration, and clustering. Third, the visual metaphors used by the visualization systems are presented in the linear structure, hierarchy structure, network structure, and vector scatter structure.

  • OFDM Wi-Fi AP is susceptible to the co-channel interference. As a countermeasure, the insertion of a smart has been addressed. Despite of the guaranteed efficiency, the complexity of the post-FFT algorithm often keeps itself from being selected as the countermeasure. Instead, simply constructed pre-FFT smart antenna of which the algorithm is based on the received signal covariance matrix is commonly used and the mathematical modeling of it has been deployed. Computer simulations evaluating the improved BER characteristics of the proposed pre-FFT using the covariance matrix of channel estimator output have been carried out. It has been demonstrated that channel matrix output based smart antenna is superior to that using received signal covariance matrix.

  • In this paper, we propose a predictive block constrained trellis coded quantization (BC-TCQ) to quantize cepstral coefficients for the distributed speech recognition. For Prediction of the cepstral coefficients. the 1st order auto-regressive (AR) predictor is used. To quantize the prediction error signal effectively. we use a BC-TCQ. The performance is compared to the split vector quantizers used in the ETSI standard, demonstrating reduction in the cepstral distance and computational complexity.

  • 먹이추적문제(prey pursuit problem)는 가상 격자로 이루어진 공간 내에 다중의 에이전트를 이용하여 먹이를 포획하는 것이다. 에이전트들은 먹이를 포획하기 위해 $30{\times}30$으로 이루어진 격자공간 (gride)안에서 기존 제안된 지역 제어, 분산 제어, 강화학습을 이용한 분산 제어 전략들을 적용하여 먹이를 포획하는 전략을 구현하였다. 제한된 격자 공간은 현실세계를 표현하기에는 너무도 역부족이어서 본 논문에서는 제한된 격자공간이 아닌 현실 세계와 흡사한 무한 공간 환경을 표현하고자 하였다. 표현된 환경의 모델은 순환구조(circular)형 격자 공간이라는 새로운 실험 공간이며, 새로운 공간에 맞는 전략은 에이전트와 먹이와의 추적 관계를 방향 벡터를 고려한 모델로 구현하였다. 기존 실험과는 차별화 된 환경에서 에이전트들은 휴리스틱을 통한 학습을 할 수 있다는 가정과 먹이의 효율적 포획, 충돌문제 해결이라는 결과를 얻었다.

  • 본 논문에서는 에이전트 기반 지리정보시스템(Geographic Information System) 구조 설계 개념에 대해 기술한다. 본 구조의 본체론 관련 GIS 분야 에이전트들 사이에 정보 교환에 필요한 세 가지 구성요소가 있는데 첫째는, 벡터, 래스터, 이미지를 포함하는 데이터이며 둘째로, 이름, 입력, 출력 및 요구 파라미터를 포함하는 알고리즘 명세이고 셋째로, 질의 및 결과 정보가 그 마지막이다. 에이전트 통신 언어(Agent Communication Language)는 에이전트들 간의 통신의 기반으로 제공된 본체론을 사용한다. 본체론과 ACL은 분산 다중-에이전트 GIS 시스템의 에이전트 통신에 있어 중심적 역할을 하고 extensible Markup Language(XML)를 이용한 Resource Description Framiework(RDF)로 인코딩 되며 공동작업과 재사용을 지원할 수 있다

  • Quantile regression has become a more widely used technique to describe the distribution of a response variable given a set of explanatory variables. This paper proposes a novel modelfor quantile regression using doubly penalized kernel machine with support vector machine iteratively reweighted least squares (SVM-IRWLS). To make inference about the shape of a population distribution, the widely popularregression, would be inadequate, if the distribution is not approximately Gaussian. We present a likelihood-based approach to the estimation of the regression quantiles that uses the asymmetric Laplace density.

Non-statistical Stochastic Finite Element Method Employing Higher Order Stochastic Field Function (고차의 추계장 함수와 이를 이용한 비통계학적 추계론적 유한요소해석)

  • In this paper, a stochastic field that is compatible with Monte Carlo simulation is suggested for an expansion-based stochastic analysis scheme of weighted integral method. Through investigation on the way of affection of stochastic field function on the displacement vector in the series expansion scheme, it is noticed that the stochastic field adopted in the weighted integral method is not compatible with that appears in the Monte Carlo simulation. As generally recognized in the field of stochastic mechanics, the response variability is not a linear function of the coefficient of variation of stochastic field but a nonlinear function with increasing variability as the intensity of uncertainty is increased. Employing the stochastic field suggested in this study, the response variability evaluated by means of the weighted integral scheme is reproduced with high precision even for uncertain fields with moderately large coefficient of variation. Besides, despite the fact that only the first-order expansion is employed, an outstanding agreement between the results of expansion-based weighted integral method and Monte Carlo simulation is achieved.

  • This paper discusses how to use projections for the analysis of data from balanced incomplete block designs. A model is suggested as a matrix form for the interblock analysis. A second set of treatment effects can be found by projections from the suggested interblock model. The variance and covariance matrix of two estimated vectors of treatment effects is derived. The uncorrelation of two estimated vectors can be verified from their covaraince structure. The fitting constants method is employed for the calculation of block sum of squares adjusted for treatment effects.
