Effect of Design variables of Rail Surface Measuring Device on Acoustic Roughness and Spectral Analysis (레일표면 측정장치의 설계변수가 음향조도 스펙트럼 분석에 미치는 영향)

  • Spectrum level for the acoustic roughness of wheels and rail surface should be periodically maintained under the limitation of ISO to reduce rolling noise of railway vehicles. Thus, in maintaining railway track, displacement sensor-based measuring devices are broadly used to measure the surface roughness and to perform spectral analysis. However, these measuring devices cause unexpected measuring errors since the displacement sensors are fixed at moving platforms and the main frame produces pitching motion during measurement. To increase the accuracy of the measured values, this paper has investigated the effects of design variables such as wheel base, additional wheels, and elastic deformation of wheels on the surface roughness and acoustic roughness spectrum.

Study of Motion-induced Dose Error Caused by Irregular Tumor Motion in Helical Tomotherapy (나선형 토모테라피에서 불규칙적인 호흡으로 발생되는 움직임에 의한 선량 오차에 대한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze motion-induced dose error generated by each tumor motion parameters of irregular tumor motion in helical tomotherapy. To understand the effect of the irregular tumor motion, a simple analytical model was simulated. Moving cases that has tumor motion were divided into a slightly irregular tumor motion case, a large irregular tumor motion case and a patient case. The slightly irregular tumor motion case was simulated with a variability of 10% in the tumor motion parameters of amplitude (amplitude case), period (period case), and baseline (baseline case), while the large irregular tumor motion case was simulated with a variability of 40%. In the phase case, the initial phase of the tumor motion was divided into end inhale, mid exhale, end exhale, and mid inhale; the simulated dose profiles for each case were compared. The patient case was also investigated to verify the motion-induced dose error in 'clinical-like' conditions. According to the simulation process, the dose profile was calculated. The moving case was compared with the static case that has no tumor motion. In the amplitude, period, baseline cases, the results show that the motion-induced dose error in the large irregular tumor motion case was larger than that in the slightly irregular tumor motion case or regular tumor motion case. Because the offset effect was inversely proportion to irregularity of tumor motion, offset effect was smaller in the large irregular tumor motion case than the slightly irregular tumor motion case or regular tumor motion case. In the phase case, the larger dose discrepancy was observed in the irregular tumor motion case than regular tumor motion case. A larger motion-induced dose error was also observed in the patient case than in the regular tumor motion case. This study analyzed motion-induced dose error as a function of each tumor motion parameters of irregular tumor motion during helical tomotherapy. The analysis showed that variability control of irregular tumor motion is important. We believe that the variability of irregular tumor motion can be reduced by using abdominal compression and respiratory training.

Tracking Control of 3-Wheels Omni-Directional Mobile Robot Using Fuzzy Azimuth Estimator (퍼지 방위각 추정기를 이용한 세 개의 전 방향 바퀴 구조의 이동로봇시스템의 개발)

  • Home service robot are not working in the fixed task such as industrial robot, because they are together with human in the same indoor space, but have to do in much more flexible and various environments. Most of them are developed on the base of the wheel-base mobile robot in the same method as a vehicle robot for factory automation. In these days, for holonomic system characteristics, omni-directional wheels are used in the mobile robot. A holonomicrobot, using omni-directional wheels, is capable of driving in any direction. But trajectory control for omni-directional mobile robot is not easy. Especially, azimuth control which sensor uncertainty problem is included is much more difficult. This paper develops trajectory controller of 3-wheels omni-directional mobile robot using fuzzy azimuth estimator. A trajectory controller for an omni-directional mobile robot, which each motor is controlled by an individual PID law to follow the speed command from inverse kinematics, needs a precise sensing data of its azimuth and exact estimation of reference azimuth value. It has imprecision and uncertainty inherent to perception sensors for azimuth. In this paper, they are solved by using fuzzy logic inference which can be used straightforward to perform the control of the mobile robot by means of the fuzzy behavior-based scheme already existent in literature. Finally, the good performance of the developed mobile robot is confirmed through live tests of path control task.

A Study on Home Visiting Hospice Care of the Terminally Ill Patients (가정 호스피스케어환자 방문간호 조사분석)

  • Purpose : Hospice Care is considered as one of the most perfect solutions for the problems brought up as the number of chronically ill patients are increasing rapidly and most of social welfare oriented countries are seeking the quality of life. Our former studies(1996, 1997) were to find out the current status of the hospice care in Korea by surveying terminally ill patients and their family members as well as medical professionals. The former study was also to conduct the operation research by developing an information service system for training of hospice care teams and volunteers, and hospice patients management. The purpose of this study was that hospice information service system was tested by home visiting hospice care through visiting nurses. Methods : From October 1, 1997 to March 31, 1998, Twenty six terminal cancer patients were included in this study from Seoul National University Hospital and other hospital. Databases and homepage, hospice information service system were designed and developed for the information needed for the hospice care before this study by our research team and this services were available through the internet. Visiting nurses were trained about this system and they visited the patients with PC notebook and provided them hospice care with hospice information system. They collected physical, psychiatric, social data of the subjects at the first visit and during hospice care at home. Results : Sixteen subjects(61.5%) died during the study and the mean survival was 20.7 days. Anorexia(96.2%), immobility(88.5%) and pain(84.6%) were the major symptom in the 26 subjects, Altered nutrition(26.1%) and pain(12.4%) were the most frequent diagnoses in 226 nursing diagnoses of the subjects. Families understood and demanded the hospice care more than patients. And most patients and families didn't demand spiritual or social care. Conclusion : Through this demonstration study, it was found that we have to provide the information of pain management and nutritional support for patients by the nurses and visiting hospice nurse. The information service system needs to be upgraded with information and manpower of spiritual and social care according to the findings.

Development of Nutritional Counseling Internet Program for Weight Reduction Using Expert System (전문가 시스템을 이용한 인터넷 체중 감량 상담 프로그램 개발)

  • The purpose of the study was to develop a nutritional counseling program using expert system to assist obese people to lose weight through behavior modification in the internet. The counseling internet program for weight loss was developed by the accumulation of knowledge for dealing with eating habits and exercising behaviors into expert system tool, Knowledge Engineering Agent (KEA) by a dietitian without any help of computer expert. KEA was built based on the theory of Multiple Classification Ripple Down Rules. To accumulate knowledge into KEA, survey was performed in 150 obese people, the dietitian reviewed and consulted each survey case, and the consulted contents were learned and accumulated into KEA. Survey questionnaires were the same as those of the internet consulting program, and they included general characteristics, dietary habits, lifestyle, and exercise patterns related to obesity. KEA was used for nutritional counseling of obese people after KEA had enough knowledge for weight loss based on behavior modification by the dietitian. To accumulate knowledge to KEA, the dietitian selected proper factors inferred from the survey questionnaire of each case, and added the conclusions for them. Conclusions were made for helping clients to correct bad eating behaviors and accumulate good behaviors for losing weight. When clients answered survey questionnaires in a counseling internet program, KEA gave the recommendation how to eat, to exercise and the deal with stress in a real time for each case. If KEA did not have enough knowledge for a specific case, the conclusion window wrote no conclusion and the dietitian needed to add conclusions for the case. The conclusions for the new case added to the KEA knowledge base. In conclusions, a counseling internet program for weight reduction can be used for give advices how to deal with obesity in a man-to-man way in a real time using KEA where nutritional knowledge based on behavior modification for weight loss was accumulated.
