A Layout Planning Optimization Model for Finishing Work (건축물 마감공사 자재 배치 최적화 모델)

  • Unnecessary transportation of resources are one of the major causes that adversely affect construction site work productivity. Therefore, layout related studies have been conducted with efforts to develop management technologies and techniques to minimize the resource transportation made at site-level. However, although the necessity for floor-level layout planning studies has been increasing as buildings have become larger and floors have become more complicated, studies to optimize the transportation of materials inside buildings are currently not being actively conducted. Therefore, in this study, a model was developed using genetic algorithms(GA) that will enable the optimization of the locations of finishing materials on the work-floor. With the established model, the arrangement of diverse materials on complicated floors can be planned and the optimized material layout planning derived from the model can minimize the total material transportation time spent by laborers during their working day. In addition, to calculate travel distances between work sites and materials realistically, the concept of actual travel distances was applied. To identify the applicability of the developed model and compare it with existing methodologies and analyze it, the model was applied to actual high-rise residential complexes.

Improving Through-thickness Thermal Conductivity Characteristic of Hybrid Composite with Quantum Annealing (Quantum annealing을 통한 hybrid composite의 두께 방향 열전도 특성 개선)

  • This study proposes a hybrid composite where a thin copper film (Cu film) is embedded in carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP), and quantum annealing is applied to derive the combination of Cu film placement that maximizes the through-thickness thermal conductivity. The correlation between each ply of CFRP and the Cu film is analyzed through finite element analysis, and based on the results, a combination optimization problem is formulated. A formalization process is conducted to embed the defined problem into quantum annealing, resulting in the formulation of objective functions and constraints regarding the quantity of Cu films that can be inserted into each ply of CFRP. The formulated equations are programmed using Ocean SDK (Software Development Kit) and Leap to be embedded into D-Wave quantum annealer. Through the quantum annealing process, the optimal arrangement of Cu films that satisfies the maximum through-thickness thermal conductivity is determined. The resulting arrangements exhibit simpler patterns as the quantity of insertable Cu films decreases, while more intricate arrangements are observed as the quantity increases. The optimal combinations generated according to the quantity of Cu film placement illustrate the inherent thermal conductivity pathways in the thickness direction, indicating that the transverse placement freedom of the Cu film can significantly affect the results of through-thickness thermal conductivity.

  • Recently, the quantities of chemical material are increasing in chemical industries. At that time, release accident is increasing due to aging of equipment, mechanical failure, human error, etc. and industrial complexes found community properties in a specific area. For that matter, chemical release accident can lead to hight probability of large disaster. There is a need to analyze the boundaries optimal sensor placement calculated by selecting release scenarios through release condition and wether condition in a chemical process for release detection and response. This paper is to investigate chlorine release accident scenarios using COMSOL. Through accident scenarios, a numerical calculation is studied to determine optimized sensor placement with weight of detection probability, detection time and concentration. In addition, validity of sensor placement is improved by robustness analysis about unpredicted accident scenarios. Therefore, this verifies our studies can be effectively applicable on any process. As mention above, the result of this study can help to place mobile sensor, to track gas release based concentration data.

Fabric Mapping and Placement of Field Programmable Stateful Logic Array (Field Programmable Stateful Logic Array 패브릭 매핑 및 배치)

  • Recently, the Field Programmable Stateful Logic Array (FPSLA) was proposed as one of the most promising system integration technologies which will extend the life of the Moore's law. This work is the first proposal of the FPSLA design automation flow, and the approaches to logic synthesis, synchronization, physical mapping, and automatic placement of the FPSLA designs. The synchronization at each gate for pipelining determines the x-coordinates of cells, and reduces the placement to 1-dimensional problems. The objective function and its gradients for the non-linear optimization of the net length and placement density have been remodeled for the reduced global placement problem. Also, a recursive algorithm has been proposed to legalize the placement by relaxing the density overflow of bipartite bin groups in a top-down hierarchical fashion. The proposed model and algorithm are implemented, and validated by applying them to the ACM/SIGDA benchmark designs. The output state of a gate in an FPSLA needs to be duplicated so that each fanout gate can be connected to a dedicated copy. This property has been taken into account by merging the duplicated nets into a hyperedge, and then, splitting the hyperedge into edges as the optimization progresses. This yields additional 18.4% of the cell count reduction in the most dense logic stage. The practicality of the FPSLA can be further enhanced primarily by incorporating into the logic synthesis the constraint to avoid the concentrated fains of gates on some logic stages. In addition, an efficient algorithm needs to be devised for the routing problem which is based on a complicated graph. The graph models the nanowire crossbar which is trimmed to be embedded into the FPSLA fabric, and therefore, asymmetric. These CAD tools can be used to evaluate the fabric efficiency during the architecture enhancement as well as automate the design.

  • Home Theater를 비롯한 대화면 디스플레이에 주로 사용되는 전면 투사방식의 프로젝션은 현재 소형화와 경량화를 위한 연구가 진행되고 있다. 프로젝션 디스플레이 장치는 기본적으로 조명 광학계와 투사 광학계로 구성되어지는데, 소형화와 경량화를 위해서는 광학 부품의 수를 줄이고 각 부품의 설계 및 구성, 배치를 최적화 시켜야 하고 이를 위하여 조명 광학계의 구성을 최적화하는 것이 필수적이다. 일반적인 프로젝션 조명 광학계 구성은 Beam splitter, 전반사 프리즘, Mirror 방식 등을 적용하고 있다. (중략)

  • In this paper, we formally define the problem of maximizing the coverage of sensor deployment, which is the optimization problem appeared in real-world sensor deployment, and analyze the properties of its solution space. To solve the problem, we proposed novel genetic algorithms, and we could show their superiority through experiments. When applying genetic algorithms to maximum coverage sensor deployment, the most important issue is how we evaluate the given sensor deployment efficiently. We could resolve the difficulty by using Monte Carlo method. By regulating the number of generated samples in the Monte Carlo evaluation of genetic algorithms, we could also reduce the computing time significantly without loss of solution quality.

Optimizing Both Cache and Disk Performance of R-Trees (R-Tree를 위한 캐시와 디스크 성능 최적화)

  • R-Tree는 일반적으로 트리 노드의 크기를 디스크 페이지의 크기와 같게 함으로써 I/O 성능에 최적이 되도록 구현한다. 최근에는 CPU 캐시 성능을 최적화하는 R-Tree의 변형이 개발되었다. 이는 노드의 크기를 캐시 라인 크기의 수 배로 하고 MBR에 저장되는 키를 압축하여 노드 하나에 더 많은 엔트리를 저장함으로써 가능하였다. 그러나, 디스크 최적 R-Tree와 CPU 캐시 최적 R-Tree의 노드 크기 사이에는 수십-수백 바이트와 수-수십 킬로바이트라는 큰 차이가 있으므로, 디스크 최적 R-Tree는 캐시 성능이 나쁘고, CPU 캐시 최적 H-Tree는 나쁜 디스크 성능을 보이는 문제점을 가지고 있다. 이 논문에서는 CPU 캐시와 디스크에 모두 최적인 R-Tree. TR-Tree를 제안한다. 먼저, 디스크 페이지 안에 들어가는 페이지 내부 트리의 높이와 단말, 중간 노드의 크기를 결정하는 방법을 제시한다. 그리고, 이틀 이용하여 TR-Tree의 검색 연산에 필요한 캐시 미스 수를 최소화였고. TR-Tree의 검색 성능을 최적화하였다. 또한, 디스크 I/O 성능을 최적화하기 위해 메모리 노드들을 디스크 페이지에 잘 맞게 배치하였다. 여기에서 구현한 TR-Tree는 디스크 최적 R-Tree보다 삽입 연산에서 6에서 28배 정도 빨랐으며, 검색 연산에서는 1.28배에서 2배의 성능 향상을 보였다.

Optimal Design of Deep-Sea Pressure Hulls using CAE tools (CAE 기법을 활용한 심해 내압구조물의 최적설계에 관한 연구)

  • Geometric configurations such as hull shape, wall thickness, stiffener layout, and type of construction materials are the key factors influencing the structural performance of pressure hulls. Traditional theoretical approach provides quick and acceptable solutions for the design of pressure hulls within specific geometric configuration and material. In this paper, alternative approaches that can be used to obtain optimal geometric shape, wall thickness, construction material configuration and stiffener layout of a pressure hull are presented. CAE(Computer Aided Engineering) based design optimization tools are utilized in order to obtain the required structural responses and optimal design parameters. Optimal elliptical meridional profile is determined for a cylindrical pressure hull design using metamodel-based optimization technique implemented in a fully-integrated parametric modeler-CAE platform in ANSYS. While the optimal composite laminate layup and the design of ring stiffener for a thin-walled pressure hull are obtained using gradient-based optimization method in OptiStruct. It is noted that the proposed alternative approaches are potentially effective for pressure hull design.

An Effective Method for the Nesting on Several Irregular Raw Sheets (임의 형상의 여러 원자재 위에서의 효과적인 배치방안)

  • An effective nesting algorithm has been proposed to allocate the arbitrary shapes on one or several raw sheets by applying the well-known simulated annealing algorithm as the optimization technique. In this approach, both the shapes to be allocated and the raw sheets are represented as the grid-based models. This algorithm can accommodate every possible situations encountered in cutting apparel parts from the raw leather sheets. In other words, the usage of the internal hole of a shape for other small shapes, handling of the irregular boundaries and the interior defects of the raw sheets, and the simultaneous allocation on more than one raw sheets have been tackled on successfully in this study. Several computational experiments are presented to verify the robustness of the proposed algorithm.

  • 본 논문은 무선 센서 네트워크에서 SOFM을 이용하여 센서 노드를 배치하는 방법을 제안한다. 제안한 방식은 특정 공간에서 센서 노드의 밀도가 일정하도록 SOFM을 이용하여 센서 노드를 배치시킨다. 시뮬레이션으로 최적의 위치를 탐색하고, 그 위치에 무선 센서 노드를 설치하여 제안한 방식의 성능을 검토하였다.
