Real-time Optimization of H.264 Software Encoder on Embedded DSP System (임베디드 DSP 기반 시스템을 위한 H.264 소프트웨어 부호기의 실시간 최적화)

  • While H.264/AVC is in wide use for multimedia applications such as DMB and IPTV service, we have limited usage cases for embedded real-time applications due to its high computational demand. The paper provides judicious guide line for optimization method selection, by presenting the detailed experiments data through the development process of a real time H.264 software encoder on embedded DSP. The experimental analysis includes an intensive profiling analysis, fast algorithm application, optimal memory assignment, and intrinsic-based instruction selection. We have realized a real-time software that encodes CIF resolution videos 15 fps on TMS320DM64x processors.

  • In the field of autonomous vehicles, where high accuracy and reliability are critical, various satellite navigation augmentation systems have been developed to improve system performance. These systems generate correction and integrity information based on measurements and navigation data collected from ground reference stations, enhancing user positioning accuracy. Thus, the performance of the system heavily relies on the deployment and spacing of reference stations. To construct an effective satellite navigation augmentation system, careful consideration must be given to the installation points of reference stations. This paper presents a user positioning performance modeling formula and proposes a method for selecting the installation points of new reference stations. The proposed method involves selecting a candidate group area that can optimize the user's positioning performance. By utilizing this method, the system's performance can be improved, ensuring high accuracy and reliability for autonomous vehicle applications.

Optimum Design of Reinforced Concrete Outrigger Wall Opening Using Piecewise Linear Interpolation (구간선형보간법을 이용한 철근콘크리트 아웃리거 벽체 개구부의 최적설계)

  • In this study, a framework for optimizing the opening in an outrigger wall is proposed. To solve a constrained bounded optimization problem, an in-house finite element program and SQP algorithm in Python SciPy library are utilized. The openings of the outrigger wall are located according to the strut-tie behavior of the outrigger wall deep beam. A linear interpolation method is used to obtain differentiable continuous functions required for optimization, whereas a database is used for the efficiency of the optimization program. By comparing the result of the two-variable optimization through the moving path of the search algorithm, it is confirmed that the algorithm efficiently determines the optimized result. When the size of each opening is set to individual variables rather than the same width of all openings, the value of the objective function is minimized to obtain better optimization results. It was confirmed that the optimization time can be effectively reduced when using the database in the optimization process.

  • Incorrect deployment of RFID readers occurs reader-to-reader interferences in many applications using RFID technologies. Reader-to-reader interference occurs when a reader transmits a signal that interferes with the operation of another reader, thus preventing the second reader from communicating with tags in its interrogation zone. Interference detected by one reader and caused by another reader is referred to as a reader collision. In RFID systems, the reader collision problem is considered to be the bottleneck for the system throughput and reading efficiency. In this paper, we propose a novel RFID reader anti-collision algorithm based on evolutionary algorithm(EA). First, we analyze characteristics of RFID antennas and build database. Also, we propose EA encoding algorithm, fitness algorithm and genetic operators to deploy antennas efficiently. To show superiority of our proposed algorithm, we simulated our proposed algorithm. In the result, our proposed algorithm obtains 95.45% coverage rate and 10.29% interference rate after about 100 generations.

Development of an Agent-based Simulator for Shopping Path Analysis in Retail Stores (유통매장 내 쇼핑 동선 분석을 위한 에이전트 기반 시뮬레이터 개발)

  • Recently the effort of retailers improving the efficiency of store operations by using the information technology (IT) is increasing. Among them, the analysis of the shoppers' flow in retail stores is one of the critical tasks since it is an essential part in optimizing store layout and item grouping, and in developing the customized services specialized to shoppers' classification. Agent-Based Modeling and Simulation (ABMS) is one of the most promising methods which support analyzing the shoppers' flow. In this paper, we suggested a shopper's behavior model and developed an agent-based simulator for optimizing the operations of retail stores. In order to model the shoppers' behavior, we analyzed the behavioral characteristics of shoppers based on their shopping lists, suggesting BDI-based agent models of the shoppers' behavior. The shopping agent model were suggested, which has an additional mental state, the shopper's behavioral characteristic, as well as the original mental states of the BDI theory which has beliefs, desires and Intentions. The result of this study can be used in as a preliminary study for modeling and simulation of retail stores congestion and in the end the optimization of item grouping and store layout.

Optimal Design of the Steel Wheel's Disc Hole Using Approximation Function (근사함수를 이용한 스틸휠의 디스크 홀의 최적화)

  • Wheel for passenger car support the car weight with tires, and they transmit rolling and braking power into the ground. Whittling away at wheel weight is more effective to boost fuel economy than lighting vehicle body structure. A shape of hole in disk is optimized for minimizing the weight of steel wheel. Pro/ENGINEER program is used for formulating the design model, and ANSYS package is selected for analyzing the design model. It has difficulties to interface these commercial software directly. For Combining both programs, response surface methodology is applied to construct approximation functions for maximum stresses and maximum displacements are obtained by full factorial design of five levels. This steel wheel is modeled in 14-inch diameter of rim, and wide parameter of hole in disk is only selected as design variable for reducing the weight of steel whee. PLBA(Pshenichny-Lim-Belegundu-Arora) algorithm, which used the second-order information in the direction finding problem and uses the active set strategy, is used for solving optimization problems.

A Network-Distributed Design Optimization Approach for Aerodynamic Design of a 3-D Wing (3차원 날개 공력설계를 위한 네트워크 분산 설계최적화)

  • An aerodynamic design optimization system for three-dimensional wing was developed as a part of the future MDO framework. The present design optimization system includes four modules such as geometry design, grid generation, flow solver and optimizer. All modules were based on commercial softwares and programmed to have automated execution capability in batch mode utilizing built-in script and journaling. The integration of all modules into the system was accomplished through programming using Visual Basic language. The distributed computational environment based on network communication was established to save computational time especially for time-consuming aerodynamic analyses. The distributed aerodynamic computations were performed in conjunction with the global optimization algorithm of response surface method, instead of using usual parallel computation based on domain decomposition. The application of the design system in the drag minimization problem demonstrated considerably enhanced efficiency of the design process while the final design showed reasonable results of reduced drag.

  • ATM 네트워크에서 다양한 트래픽을 특성과 QoS 요구사항을 갖는 멀티미디어 서비스의 종단간 품질을 만족시키면서 망 자원을 효율적으로 이용하기 위해서는 가상경로(virtual path : VP) 의 적절한 배치 및 대역 할당을 통한 논리적 망의 구성, 호 접속 시의 종적 경로 설정, 그리고 그와 연계된 효율적인 동적 대역 관리가 필수적으로 요구된다. 본 논문에서는 새로운 호가 시도될 때 논리적 망의 설계에서 설정된 가상경로의 대역으로 호의 품질 요구사항을 만족 시킬수 없거나 또는 미리 설정해 놓은 가상경로연결(VP Connection) 이 존재하지 않을 경우에 물리적 링크의 잔여용량을 기반으로 적절한 가상경로를 선택하여 용량을 재조정하기 위한 최적 관리 모델로서 MHR (Minimum Hop Route), MCR(Maximum Capacity Route), 그리고 MRCR (MaxMin Residual Capacity Route)방식을 제안하고 이에 대한 최적화 정식을 제안하였다. 제안된 각 최적화 모델에 대한 해를 노드의 수가 m인 네트워크에서 O(m2)의 복잡도로 구할 수 있는 알고리즘을 제시하고 시뮬레이션을 통해 제안된 최적화 모델이 망의 성능에 미치는 영향을 평균 호 차단률 평균 이용 링크의 수 , 그리고 노드 쌍간의 호 차단률의 분산등에 의해 망 운용의 효율성과 공평성등을 비교분석하였다.

  • 레이저 가공기술은 재료가공 분야에서 넓은 응용분야를 가지고 있으며, 특히 절단, 용접, 열처리 등의 가공분야에서 고정밀도와 자동화의 용이성으로 인해 생산성이 높은, 고부가가치의 첨단응용 기술로 부각되고 있다. 특히 레이저절단은 타 절단법에 비교되는 절단정도, 열영향, 생산성, 작업 환경등의 각종 우위성으로 박판 및 후판절단분야에서 급속한 보급을 보이기 시작하였다. 현재 대 부분의 레이저 가공기는 CNC화 되어가고 있는 추세이며, 레이저 절단의 경우 생산성증대 및 고 정밀화를 위하여 CAD/CAM인터페이스에 의한 자동화가 필연적인 상황이다. 뿐만아니라 고출력 레이저 발전기를 가공 기본체에 탑재한 탑재형 레이저가공기의 출현으로 대형부재의 절단이 가능 하게 되었으며, 더불어 절단공정의 무인화를 지향하는 각종 시스템이 개발되고 있다. 이와 같은 무인화, 생산성증대, 작업시간단축과 러닝 코스트 및 재료의 절감을 위한 노력의 일환으로 컴 퓨터에 의한 자동 및 반자동 네스팅 시스템의 개발을 들 수 있다. 레이저에 의한 2차원 절단응 용분야에서의 네스팅작업은 설계가 끝난 각 부품의 절단작업의 전단계로서 수행되며, 일반적으로 네스팅공정이 완료되면 절단경로를 결정하고 가공조건과 함께 수치제어공작기계의 제어에 필요한 NC코드를 생성하게 된다. 최근에는 이와 같은 네스팅 시스템이 일부 생산현장에 적용되고 있 으나 이러한 시스템들의 대부분이 외국에서 개발된 것을 수입하여 사용하는 실정이다. 2차원 패턴의 최적자동배치문제는 비단 레이저 절단과 같은 열가공 분야에서 뿐만 아니라 블랭킹 금형, 의류, 유리, 목재등 여러분야에서 응용이 가능하며 패키지의 국산화가 시급한 실정이다. 네스 팅작업은 적용되는 분야에 따라 요구사항과 구속조건이 달라지며 이로 인해 알고리즘과 자료구 조도 달라지게 되나 공통적인 목표는 주어진 영역안에서 겹침없이 배치하면서 버림율을 최소화 하는 것이다. 지난 10여년간 여러 산업의 응용분야에서는 네스팅시스템의 도입이 활발하게 이 루어지고 있는데 수동에 반자동 및 자동에 이르기까지 다양하나 자동네스팅시스템의 경우 배치 효율의 신뢰성이 비교적 부족하기 때문에 아직까지는 생산현장에서 기피하는 실정이다. 배치알 고리즘의 관점에서 볼 때 이러한 문제들은 NP-complete문제로 분류하며 제한된 시간안에 최적의 해를 구하기가 가능한 조합 최적화 문제로 알려져 있다. 따라서 이 글에서는 레이저 절단분야 에서의 네스팅시스템에 관한 개요와 최근의 연구동향 그리고 몇 가지 전형적인 네스팅 알고리 즘들을 소개하고 비교분석을 통해 개선점을 간략하게 논의하고자 한다.
