  • This paper presents the DQ transfomation and space vector modulation method to develop a control algorithm of distribution STATCON(STATic CONdenser) for line voltage regulation, dc link voltage regulation and harmonics compensation. The Performance analysis of a PI with ramp comparision and synchronous reference frame current controller is carried out. Based on these analysis, the control performances are desirable to compensate the harmonics and to regulate de link and line voltage of Distribution line.

  • This paper proposes fault detection method using a neural network & fuzzy logic on distribution lines. Fault on distribution lines is simulated using EMTP. The pattern of high impedance fault on pebbles, ground and short-circuit fault were take as the learning model. In this paper proposed fault detection method is evaluated on various conditions. The average values after analyzing fault current by FFT of even odd harmonics and fundamental rms were used for the neural network input. Test results were verified the validity of the proposed method

  • This paper describes the first field demonstration of the distribution STATCON in Korea including installation and its evaluation for improving power quality in distribution system. The purpose of installation is to verify functionally the voltage source inverter based equipment for voltage regulation and harmonic mitigation in distribution line. The operational data resulting from field test and the site figure are included.

  • When we perform the test related to the power distribution system such as artificial fault test, protective coordination test, distribution automation test in short length test line, Lumped Constant Circuit, a kind of variable impedance, should be attached to the test line in order to make it equivalent to a real line in length electrically. In this paper we designed the positive sequence and zero sequence Lumped Constant Circuit with optimized inductor and resister for the modification of long, 16km, distribution line, when they are attached to the short, 4km, distribution test line.

  • A ZnO varistor with reference voltage 250V/mm was fabricated through the control of particle size in slurry and the variation of sintering conditions. It was found that to measure the flatness of the V-I characteristic curve in the small-current region and the flatness of the V-I characteristic curve in a large-current region was improved nonlinearity of the fabricated ZnO varistor. According to the IEC 60099-4 was measured the accelerated aging test and high current test of the distribution class surge varistor which is excellent in respect to the property of ZnO varistor.

  • Electrical energy is playing an increasingly vital role as the primary energy source in everyday life. With the increase in electric power consumption, power facilities are under an increasing stress and must operate at a high capacity. Consequently, the demand for electric power cables in power transmission and distribution lines is rapidly increasing. Underground distribution lines have been steadily replacing the aboveground lines owing to the increase in electric power demand and the need to increase the supply voltage. In addition to line damage, worker safety is of primary concern in this type of underground infrastructure. In this study, to improve the safety of workers dealing with underground transmission lines, we analyzed the electromagnetic field generated around the distribution line and determined the basic criteria for developing a device that can detect a live underground line.

뇌서지에 의한 배전선로 고장 시 과도상태 분석 (Transient State Analysis of Faults Caused by Lightning Surge in Distribution Line)

  • This paper presents the voltage characteristics of the various faults after lightning surge hits the overhead grounding wire close to the transformer's secondary side. Based on the modeled distribution system, the cases of the various faults occurred by lightning surge are simulated using EMTP/ATPDraw and maximum overvoltage and RMS voltage according to the distances from the transformer are investigated. As a result, it is seen that the voltage characteristics of faults caused by lightning surge is different depending on the fault type and the voltage characteristics can be used to detect the fault type caused by lightning surge.

  • Distribution networks are operated in radial fashion during the normal state. Loop configuration is also required temporally in case of live load transfer among the adjacent feeders. Voltage angles of each substation buses are very important data in order to calculate power flow of the loop structured distribution feeders. This paper proposes substation bus voltage angle calculation method using voltage angle difference measured at the normally open tie switches. Simulation case studies using Matlab simulink have been performed to establish feasibility of proposed method.

  • Distribution Automation System(DAS) is designed to improve operational efficiency by acquisition and control of remote data using its components such as central computation units, communication network and feeder remote terminal units. A conventional human machine interface of the DAS adopts a schematic diagram which is made by drawing power equipments on the geographic information system map. The single line diagram is more useful than the schematic diagram for the main tasks of distribution system operation such as protective relay coordination, service restoration and loss minimization. Since the configuration of the distribution line is changed according to the relocation of the open tie switches, the auto-drawing algorithm based on the connection between the sections and the switches is an essential technique. This paper proposes a new auto-drawing algorithm for a single line diagram of distribution systems based on tertiary tree and collision avoidance method. The feasibility of the proposed algorithm has been testified for various cases using practical distribution system with 12 feeders.

  • At present, the development of a detection device in order to prevent accidents due to wire deterioration in the distribution lines is required. Distribution line is not possible to check the internal state in a normal way because it is covered with the coating. Accordingly, various eddy current techniques that is the non-destructive test (NDT) techniques have been applied to solve this problem. In this paper, we have seen examining the characteristic change of the eddy current sensor according to the simplified shape of the sensor in order to solve the problems for the simplified shape that is generated when the simulation for the shape of the eddy current sensor.
