The Study of Air Sampling Smoke Detector (공기흡입형 연기감지장치에 관한 연구)

  • Since the air stream in the room controlled by HVAC system affects on he expected response of conventional detectors which are designed in accordance with normal characteristics of air stream in the fire incident, unexpected operation time delay may occur in fire. In order to solve this problem and to improve sensitivity so that to initiate fire in its early stages for minimizing damage and protecting people, we studied and developed Air Sampling Smoke Detector. The Air Sampling Smoke Detector is a kind of active-type fire detection system. it draws air continuously from the protected area through an air sampling pipe network to the smoke density analyzer. This study presents smoke density analysing technique and air intake balancing technique through an air sampling pipe network. As a result of evaluating, Air Sampling Smoke Detector was much more sensitive than conventional smoke detectors that passively wait for smoke to reach them and was not affected by ambient airflow in the room by means of balanced air intake through the sampling holes.

A Study on Hydraulic Calculation Procedure of Fire Sprinkler System Design (스프링클러설비 설계의 수리계산 절차에 대한 연구)

  • There are two kinds of method on hydraulic calculation of fire sprinkler system design. The one is using the computational program and the other is designer calculate system for oneself. In case of using the computational program, putting the input data in, the program calculate the friction loss, water flow, total height and so forth. If program user or designer doesn't know the basic idea and procedure of hydraulic calculation. Then, the outputs are different from each other. This paper suggests the hydraulic calculation procedure in design area as follow. Equivalent lengths of tees on the branch are selected base on the same pipe diameter which the tees are established, although the diameter of tee outlet is different. Even though there is a different friction loss of head from the other head, the pressure from the hydraulic end is bigger than a head loss, discharge flow is calculated by pressure from the hydraulic end.

Current Issues on the Oil UST Management and Future Directions for the Prevention of the Subsurface Contamination (현행 주유소 지하유류저장시설 관리의 문제점과 토양${\cdot}$지하수 오염 방지를 위한 개선방안 연구)

  • The current status and problems of UST management in gas stations were reviewed, and suggestions were made for possible improvement of UST management. Regulations and programs relevant through the whole life cycle of the UST, such as construction, installation, operation, and disclosure are insufficient to prevent oil release. The UST requirements are less stringent compared to those of the U.S. and EU members. Current soil test does not seem to be practically effective in detecting soil contamination caused by oil release. The potential for subsurface contamination due to oil release from the UST is estimated from available data other than soil test results. Much higher following future directions and suggestions are made to improve current unsatisfactory UST management: Firstly, increasing the UST requirements - establishing more stringent standards for new UST facilities, and adding new regulatory requirements for existing UST facilities; secondly, replacing current soil test with the tank and piping tests; thirdly, reinforcing programs for supervising the tank construction and installation; fourthly, constructing a system in which independent gas stations can properly manage the USTs; and lastly, educating UST owners and operators, and constructing DB of UST facilities.

  • Potential fire, explosion and safety hazards exist in medium- or small-scale chemical plants using radical batch reaction processes due to the various conditions of materials, works or products. To minimize the potential damage, a study was conducted on qualitative hazard analysis using the HAZOP technique, which is a typical method for a qualitative risk assessment and analysis of the potential risks encountered in these chemical plants. For this purpose, a domestic chemical plant, which produces the acrylic resin by a radical batch reaction process, was selected and a risk assessment and analysis according to the procedure of HAZOP method was performed for the process. As the result of the study, to prevent the hazard, the input of inert gas and the installation of a pressure gauge were indispensable. In addition, the initiator and monomer should also be separated, and inhibiting substances and equipment are also necessary to prevent a runaway reaction.

  • KSTAR (Korea Superconducting Tokamak Advanced Research) current lead system (CLS) has a role to interconnect magnet power supply (MPS) in room temperature (300 K) and superconducting (SC) bus-line, electrically. For the first plasma experiments, it should be assembled 4 current leads (CL) on toroidal field (TF) current lead box (CLB) and 14 leads on poloidal field (PF) CLB. Two current leads, with the design currents 17.5 kA, and SC bus-lines are connected in parallel to supply 35 kA DC currents on TF magnet. Whereas, it could supply $20\;{\sim}\;26\;kA$ to each pairs of PF magnets during more than 350 s. At the cold terminals of the leads, there are joined SC bus-lines and it was constructed helium coolant control system, aside from main tokamak system, to protect heat flux through current leads and enhanced Joule heat due to supplied currents. Throughout the establishment processes, it was tested the high vacuum pumping, helium leak of the helium lines and hardwares mounted between the helium lines, flow controls for CL, and liquid nitrogen cool-down of possible parts (current leads, CL helium lines, and thermal shield helium lines for CLB), for the accomplishment of the required performances.

Prediction Method of Control Valve Noise (잔향실을 이용한 콘트롤 밸브 소음 예측 방법)

  • This paper proposes new method for predicting sound power emitted from the control valve and piping system. The sound power level measurement method using the reverberation chamber is much easy to apply in the field compared to the method using the anechoic chamber. Measured sound power was used to determine the coefficients of the equation predicting sound power level. The noise prediction equation was developed at relative flow coefficient, 0.11. The sound power level predicted is in good agreement with the measured value. Proposed method can be used to express the noise characteristics of the control valves.

Optimized Flooding Analysis Method for Compartment for Nuclear Power Plant (원전 격실에 대한 최적 침수분석 방법)

  • In this paper a realistic bounding method for flooding analysis following rupture of large size of thanks and piping is defined. Mass and energy release during main feedwater line break accident is analyzed with RETRAN code. It is modeled that the main feed water control valve is closed in 5.0 seconds after reactor trip. In result of the analysis, largest mass and energy is discharged at 70% reactor power. The flood sources for main feedwater room are calculated when piping failure occurs in the high energy line and medium energy line. Based on the result of flood level (1.43m), it is investigated that all of the safety-related environmental qualification equipments are well located above the flood level.

  • 전기방식이 실시되고 있는 상수도 관로는 관의 노후화, 코팅의 열화, 부적절한 방식시스템의 적용 및 타 시설물과의 간섭 등으로 부분적으로 방식전위 미달구간이 존재한다. 이러한 방식전위 미달구간에 대하여 토양환경 측정 및 방식소요전류량 산정, 간섭 시험 등을 통하여 토양환경은 부식이 '발생하는 구간' 및 '미약하게 발생'하는 구간으로 나타났다. 임시 가통전 시험을 통하여 방식소요전류량을 구할 수 있었다. 간섭영향 시험으로 간섭 여부 및 전식 발생지점을 추정할 수 있다. 현장 측정 결과와 설계기준을 바탕으로 적절한 전기방식 보강 계획을 수립하여 현장에 부분적으로 설치하였으며 방식상태를 분석하였다. 단순히 설계된 소요전류량만을 증가시키는 방안보다 부분적인 방식보강 및 주변 배관 상태를 고려하여 적절한 통합 방식방안을 적용하는 것이 더 효율적인 것으로 나타났다.

  • 본 논문에서는 열분해 및 촉매반응의 의한 Hydrazine의 Ammonia 전환율을 연구하였다. 원자력발전소 2차 계통은 물/증기 순환계통으로 기기 및 배관의 부식을 억제하고, 증기발생기(Steam Generator, SG)의 부식생성물 유입을 최소하기 위해 전휘발성처리법(All Volatile Treatment, AVT)을 적용하여 계통수의 pH를 약염기성으로 유지하고 있다. 또한 Hydrazine을 이용하여 계통수의 용존산소제거 및 환원성 분위기를 유지하고 있다. 현재 사용되는 AVT는 대부분 단일 아민(Ammine)으로 계통 전 영역에서 pHt를 약염기성으로 유지하기 어렵다. 따라서 복합 아민을 이용하여 단일 아민의 상호단점을 보완한 수처리법을 적용해야한다. 하지만 복합 아민을 적용할 경우 추가 아민 주입설비, 설치부지, 시설유지보수 및 관리가 요구되므로 기존 주입약품을 이용하여 아민을 공급할 수 있는 연구가 필요하다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 Hydrazine의 열분해 및 촉매반응을 이용한 Ammonia 전환율을 조사하였다.

A Ignition Test of Gas Turbine Combustor For High Altitude simulation at Low Temperature Condition (가스터빈 연소기 고공환경 모사 시험을 위한 상압/저온 환경에서의 점화 특성 실험)

  • In this study, ignition tests of a gas turbine combustor were performed to evaluate an ignition loop at low temperature condition. An experimental setup was constructed to simulate low temperature condition with a heat exchanger using dry ice as a coolant. Various low temperature conditions could be created by controlling the amount of air though the heat exchanger. The results showed that ignition limit decreased with air temperature.
