  • As the purpose of the breakdown prediction of three degradation of insulating materials caused by partial discharge occurring at various defects in the polymer insulator itself and at the interfaces between electrodes and the insulating materials. Treeing due to partial discharge os one of the main causes of breakdown of the insulating materials. Recently, the necessity of establishing the way to diagnoses the aging of insulation materials and to predict of insulation breakdown become improtant. The purpose of our work are to use acoustic emission System and fractal dimension and to investigated the treeing phenomena in polymeric insulation under appliec AC voltage 11[kV] with an artificial needleshaped void(1.5[mm]) using the above system.

Electric Discharge Analysis Using Nonlinarly-Coupled Equation of Electromagnetic Field and Charge Transport (방전현상 해석을 위한 전자장 및 전하이동 방정식의 비선형 결합 알고리즘)

  • A complete finite element analysis method for discharge onset process, which is governed and coupled by charge transport equation and electric field equation, was presented. The charge transport equation of first order was transformed into a second-order one by utilizing the artificial diffusion scheme. The two second-order equations were analyzed by the finite element formulation which is well-developed for second-order ones. The Fowler-Nordheim injection boundary condition was adopted for charge transport equation. After verifying the numerical results by comparing to the analytic solutions using parallel plane electrodes with one carrier system, we extended the result to blade-plane electrodes in 2D xy geometry with three carriers system. Radius of the sharp tip was taken to be 50 ${\mu}m$. When this sharp geometry was solved by utilizing the space discretizing methods, the very sharp tip was found to cause a singularity in electric field and space charge distribution around the tip. To avoid these numerical difficulties in the FEM, finer meshes, a higher order shape function, and artificial diffusion scheme were employed.

  • The demand for wire-cut EDM is increasing rapidly in the die and tool making industry. In this study machining characteristics such as machining rate, surface roughness, hand drum form and hardness of machined material are investigated experimentally under the conditions varing pulse on time, pulse off time, peak voltage, wire tension after fixing other conditions in SKD 11 and brass and brass workpiece. It was found that various operating conditions had significant influences on machining characteristics. But the hardness of workpiece was uneffected by operating conditions. Also it was obtained experimentally that brass workpeice had better machinability than SKD 11 one.dition according to the current(Ip) in an electric spark machine : 1) Electrode is utilized Cu and Graphite. 2) Work piece is used the material of carbon steel. The condition of experiment is : 1) Current is varied 0.7(A) to 50(A) and the time of electric discharging to work piece in each time is 30(min) to 60(min). 2) After the upper side of work piece was measured in radius(5$\mu$m) of stylus analyzed the surface roughness to ade the table and graph of Rmax by yielding data. 3) Electro wear ratio is : \circled1Cooper was measured ex-machining and post-machining by the electronic balance. \circled2The ex-machining of graphite measured by it, the post-machining was found the data from volume $\times$specific gravity and analyzed to made its table and graph on ground the data. 4) In order to keep the accuracy of voltage affected to the work piece was equipped with the A.V. R and the memory scope was sticked to the electric spark machine. 5) In order to preserve the precision of current, to get rid of the noise occured by internal resistance of electric spark machine and to force injecting for the discharge fluid , it made the fixed table for a work piece to minimize the work error by means of one's failure during the electric discharging.

  • Portable ultrasonic detectors are useful for detection of electrical discharge phenomena like as partial discharge, corona, arching and tracking occurring in an electric system. But the general potable ultrasonic detectors have drawbacks that the results are under the influence subjective reaction of users and it is difficult to determine the type of problem by listening to sound properties and estimate results. So a new analysis method distinguishing ultrasonic characteristics is required. This paper presented ultrasonic wave analysis program to visualize ultrasonic sound of corona, arching and tracking measured by ultrasonic detector. While depending on sound properties alone can be subjective, by incorporating analytical method using the developed program, users are able to increase the accuracy of their ultrasonic diagnosis results.

  • A zero-dimensional global model simulator for atmospheric pressure oxygen plasmas has been developed. The simulation model considers the configurations similar to that of plasma needle device. The simulation results show that those species of O, $O_3$, $O_2*$ and ${O_2}^+$ have the highest density in sequence. Electrons dissipate most of their energy through the collisions with oxygen molecules. If the input power increases, the density of most species also increases as much as three-boy collision for the creation of ozone is weakened and hence the density of ozone decreases. The body to volume ratio also affects the plasma density.

  • Research into the selection of suitable materials and the development of fast processing methods for press die manufacturing is absolutely necessary to reduce the production time and cost. In particular, knowledge of its heat properties must be considered whendeveloping a long press die. Generally, as the main component materials of press dies, Cr, W low alloy tool steel, high carbon-high chrome steel, high speed steel, etc., are used as thetooling steel for the cold die. Machine tools and wire-cut electric discharge machining are mainly used for processing the press die parts. There are many differences in the machining time and life cycle of die parts depending on the machining process. The parts produced by milling and grinding have a high manufacturing time and cost with a long life cycle, while thosemade by milling and wire-cut discharge machining have areduced manufacturing time and cost,whereastheir die life cycle is reduced. Therefore, in this study, we will discuss amethod of improving the life cycle of the die parts by using heat treatment as a processing method that reduces the manufacturing time and cost. SEM, EDS analysis and the surface roughness analysis of the surface and center of the workpiece are used for analyzing the specimens produced by three machining methods, viz. milling - grinding, milling - wire cut discharge, and milling - wire cut discharge - heat treatment. A method of making die parts having the same life cycle as those produced by milling - grinding is developed with the milling - wire cut discharge - high temperature tempering method.

The Cycling Performance of Graphite Electrode Coated with Tin Oxide for Lithium Ion Battery (리튬이온전지용 주석산화물이 도포된 흑연전극의 싸이클 성능)

  • Tin oxide was coated on graphite particle by sol-gel method and an electrode with this material having microcrystalline structure for lithium ion battery was obtained by heat treatment in the range $400-600^{\circ}C$. The content of tin oxide was controlled within the range of $2.25wt\%\~11.1wt\%$. The discharge capacity increased with the content of tin oxide and also initial irreversible capacity increased. The discharge capacity of tin oxide electrode showed more than 350 mAh/g at the initial cycle and 300 mAh/g after the 30th cycle in propylene carbonate(PC) based electrolyte whereas graphite electrode without surface modification showed 140 mAh/g. When the charge and discharge rate was changed from C/5 to C/2, The discharge capacity of tin oxide and graphite electrode showed $92\%\;and\;77\%$ of initial capacity, respectively. It has been considered that such an enhancement of electrode characteristics was caused because lithium $oxide(Li_2O)$ passive film formed from the reaction between tin oxide and lithium ion prevented the exfoliation of graphite electrode and also reduced tin enhanced the electrical conduction between graphite particles to improve the current distribution of electrode.

Investigation of Spherical LiMn2O4 Cathode Materials by Spray-drying with Different Electrochemical Behaviors at High Rate (분무건조법으로 제조한 구형 스피넬계 LiMn2O4 양극소재의 합성 조건에 따른 고출력 거동에 대한 연구)

  • Spherical lithium manganese oxide spinel, $Li_{1.10}Mn_{1.86}Al_{0.02}Mg_{0.02}O_4$ was prepared by wet-milling, spray-drying, and sintering process. In the spray-drying process, solid content in slurry was varied from 20 to 30 wt%. In the sintering process, the precursors have been sintered under air or $O_2$ atmosphere. While the as-prepared samples exhibit excellent electrochemical properties at room temperature, the discharge voltage profiles at 5.0C are very different one from another. The origin for the difference especially at initial state of discharge is oxygen defect. The sample prepared in air has larger capacity related to the plateau at 3.3 V (vs. $Li/Li^+$) which is caused by the oxygen defects than the one prepared in $O_2$. The difference of discharge voltage profiles especially at the final state of discharge comes from different diffusion rate of $Li^+$ ions. The sample prepared from 30 wt% solid content of slurry shows twice higher diffusion rate than the samples prepared from 20 wt% solid content, which is attributed to better compactness between primary particles for the sample prepared from 30wt % solid content than the one prepared by 20 wt%.

Electrochemical Characteristics of Ru Added Li4Ti5O12 as an Anode Material (Ru를 첨가한 음극활물질 Li4Ti5O12의 전기화학적 특성)

  • There is an increasing interest in the development of rechargeable batteries suitable for use in both hybrid electric vehicles and energy storage systems that require higher charge & discharge rates, bigger battery sizes and increased safety of the batteries. Spinel-type lithium titanium oxide ($Li_4Ti_5O_{12}$) as a potential anode for lithium ion batteries has many advantages. It is a zero-strain materials and it experiences no structural change during the charge/discharge precess. Thus, it has long cycle life due to its structural integrity. It also offers a stable operation voltage of approximately 1.55 V versus $Li^+/Li$, above the reduction potential of most organic electrolyte. In this study, Ru added $Li_4Ti_5O_{12}$ composites were synthesized by solid state process. The characteristics of active material were investigated with TGA-DTA, XRD, SEM and charge/discharge test. The capacity was reduced when Ru was added, however, the polarization decreased. The capacity rate of $Li_4Ti_5O_{12}$ with Ru (3%, 4%) addition was reduced during the charge/discharge precess with 10 C-rate as a high current density.

대기압 제트 플라즈마에서 다중 스트리머 발생 및 이해

  • 대기압 제트 플라즈마는 의료산업 및 재료공정, 정수, 기체흐름 제어 등 다양한 분야에 적용을 위한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 뿐만 아니라 구동 조건에 따라 다양한 방전 모드가 존재하며, 이에 따라 발생된 플라즈마의 광학적 및 전기적 특성도 매우 다르게 나타나기 때문에 과학적으로도 새로운 현상들이 속속 발표되고 있다. 대기압 제트 플라즈마에서 중요한 과학적 현상 중 하나인 스트리머(streamer) 혹은 플라즈마 총알(plasma bullet)은 수-수십 kHz의 저주파 전압으로 구동 시 특정 조건에서 발생하는 현상으로, 최근 들어 시간분해능이 높은 ICCD 카메라를 이용하여 스트리머의 발생 및 전파에 대한 새로운 현상의 발견과 다양한 물리적 이해가 시도되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 헬륨 대기압 제트 플라즈마에 포함된 질소 함유량에 따른 다중 스트리머의 발생 및 기작의 이해를 시도하였다. 구동 전압 및 주파수, 헬륨기체의 유량, 전극 구조 및 간격 등 모든 조건이 동일한 상태에서 질소기체의 함유량을 증가시킬수록 특정 영역에서 스트리머의 개수가 증가하는 것을 관찰되었다. 또한 $N_2{^+}$의 방출광 세기가 헬륨 및 산소 원자의 방출광보다 지배적인 것으로 측정되었으며, 이는 헬륨 플라즈마에서 흔히 나타나는 헬륨 metastable에 의한 질소분자의 페닝 이온화(Penning ionization) 때문이다. 본 연구팀은 페닝 이온화($He^*+N_2{\rightarrow}He+N_2{^+}+e$)로 인해 추가적으로 발생하는 전자가 다중 스트리머 발생에 중요한 역할을 하는 것이라 제안한다. 좀 더 심화적인 분석을 하고자 헬륨-질소 플라즈마에서 주된 여러 가지 반응식을 이용하여 페닝 이온화에 의한 이온화율 및 전자의 직접적인 충돌에 의한 질소, 헬륨의 이온화율의 계산을 수행하여 특정 영역에서 헬륨의 이온화율보다 질소 페닝 이온화율이 더 커지는 것을 확인하였다.
