  • The test method to be developed is to determine whether the waterproof layer applied to the leak-prone part such as cracks and joints has defects such as tearing or lifting of the waterproof layer due to the influence generated from the behavior of the structure under complex deterioration conditions. This is to evaluate the performance of the waterproofing method afterwards. Therefore, by notifying only the pass or fail, the unique mechanical properties of the material or method used are notified to the test client to limit the physical properties of the test body, thereby determining and supplementing the weaknesses of the user material in advance to improve the high quality. We want to prevent damage from water leakage through production and distribution of materials.

  • Installation of a proper root barrier in a green roof system is very important in order to protect the concrete slab of roof and the root penetration in the waterproofing layer. To select the proper root barrier materials and methods, it is necessary to understand the environmental conditions affecting the waterproofing-root barrier system in green roof construction site. Therefore, we suggested as the environmental performance indexes four kinds of performance requirements; root penetration, chemical attack by chemical agent or fertilizer, load impact by soil depth and size of plant, and water pressure. The related four test methods were suggested for the inspection of these performance indexes. In this research, we could suggest for kinds of test methods as standard test methods to evaluate the environmental performance of waterproofing-root barrier for greening roof system.

  • The waterproofing material can be roughly divided into a coating material and a sheet waterproofing material. In the case of coating waterproofing materials, sheet waterproofing materials, which are easy to use in terms of workability and quality control, have been recently used because of their incomplete use of coating thickness, long curing time and poor blending due to in situ blending. However, in the case of the sheet waterproofing material, since the sheet overlapping portion is inevitably generated, various defects (breakage due to the behavior) are frequently observed. Therefore, it is imperative to establish fundamental measures to minimize this.

  • Although the introduction of new materials and new construction methods and overseas materials has become more active due to the diversification of the construction market, the quality standards of waterproofing methods in Korea are insufficient. In particular, the quality control standard is applied to the KS F 2622:08 (Membrane Waterproofing layer performance test method), which is the existing standard, to prepare standards for quality control of waterproof materials, which is increased in Korea.

  • Waterproofing materials and construction methods have been developed and applied to various construction sites since the past. However, there many cases where the waterproofing performance is not satisfactory, leading to continuous water leakage. It has been observed that a key reason for this is because waterproofing method and material selection is not optimized in terms of the appropriate application area and environmental degradation factors. This paper proposes that future selection of waterproofing methods should consider the following evaluation criteria; 1) waterproof performance evaluation according to site conditions, 2) evaluation of construction method, 3) manufacturing and maintenance of waterproofing systems.

  • In 2017, 100 aftershocks with a magnitude of 2.0~3.0 and 615 minor earthquakes in Pohang in Korea caused the collapse and destruction of aggregate, tile, glass, and other structural components of multi-family houses constructed as finishing materials for buildings, causing damage to vehicles and casualties. Based on this factor, seismic design standards were established for non-structural elements of buildings that were applied only to past structures. Therefore, this study reinterpreted various vibration response spectra transmitted to waterproof layers as well as the definition and concept of the waterproof layer demand response spectrum derived by developing various vibration response test evaluation devices through a new testing apparatus.

  • In this study, butyl rubber, which is the main material constituting the self-adhesive butyl rubber waterproofing sheet, was mixed with reclaimed rubber, and tensile strength, tear strength, peeling resistance strength, and adhesion strength were measured for sample prepared by mixing ratio. As a result, it was confirmed that peeling resistance strength and adhesion strength decreased as the reclaimed rubber content increased, and tensile strength and tear strength did not change significantly.

  • Polyurethane apply to the waterproof widely. Polyurethane rubbers are prepared that the influences of a thermal aging on the properties are investigated. Polyol and Polyisocyanate were varied ratio in the range mixed by using individual product that was vulcanized by a hot. The waterproofs of Polyurethane were investigated about tensile strength, tear strength and elongation after the thermal Aging for 168, 336, 504 hrs at 70$^{\circ}$C and 80$^{\circ}$C in the air oven. As the increase of the thermal aging time, tensile strength, tear strength and elongation were reduced.
