  • 방사성동위원소를 이용한 물품표면의 오염검사에 사용되고 있는 인체표면모니터, 물품모니터, 화물모니터 등의 최근 경향은 대면적검출기를 사용하여 오염검출의 고감도화, 마이콤사용에 의한 데이타처리기능의 향상, 보수점검의 기간단축 등이 도모되어 방사선관리의 자동화가 한층 진보되어 왔다. 이들의 성능, 기능 등에 대해 알아본다.

Research on Surface Contamination Analysis of Radiology Examination Equipment in Medical Institutions (의료기관 내 영상의학 검사 장비의 표면 오염도 분석 연구)

  • In this study, two general X-ray device, CT, and MRI inspection devices were selected from general hospitals in the Daejeon area and an experiment was conducted to predict the level of infection by measuring the surface contamination of the inspection devices at different times and to use it as basic data for infection prevention. As a result, the surface contamination level by time zone for general X-ray devices and MRI examination devices was in the order of 13H > 8H > 16H, and for CT examination devices, it was 13H > 16H > 8H, which appeared to be influenced by the number of tests. In addition, the surface contamination results for each part of the test device showed that the highest ATP contamination value was found on the stand bucky handle for the general X-ray device, the headrest for the CT examination device, and the operation switch for the MRI examination device, which was closely related to the number of contacts. As a result of comparing before and after disinfection, all devices showed a significant decrease after disinfection. Based on the results of the experiment, it is believed that it can be used as basic data to identify the level of contamination in radiology laboratories and prevent infectious diseases.

Sanitary Sterilization of Dried Fishes and Mixed Condiments (주요건조 수산물 및 혼합조미료의 위생적 살균)

  • 건조 수산가공품 및 혼합조미료 각 5종의 위생적 살균 및 저장방법의 개발을 목적으로 현행살균 방법으로 살균효과의 불충분, 제품의 품질저하, 약제성분의 잔유 등 많은 문제점을 내포한 ethylene oxide에 의한훈증처리와 방사선 조사와의 미생물 살균효과, 이화학적 특성 및 관능적 품질에 미치는 영향을 검토한 결과는 다음과 같다. 시료의 미생물 오염은 전 세균이 $10^3~10^7$ CFU/g으로 그중 90%이상이 내열성 세균이었으며, 곰팡이류는 $10^2~10^3$ CFU/g, 대장균도 시료 5종에서 $10^2~10^6$ CFU/g이나 오염되었다. 살균효과 실험에서 대장균군, 곰팡이류는 5~10 kGy 방사선 조사로서 완전 사멸되었으며, 전세균도 오염도가 매우 높았던 혼합조미료 몇종을 제외하고는 제거되었다. 반면, ethylene oxide훈증처리는 전 미생물의 살균이 불충분하였다. 이 화학적 특성 즉, TBA가 TMA-N 함량, 아미노산, 무기질, 색도 등은 적정 선량의 방사선 조사로서는 무처리구 시료와 거의 차이가 없었으나, ethylene oxide 훈증처리구는 심한 품질의 변화를 나타내었다. 또한 관능검사에 의한 전반적 기호성에 있어서도 방사선조사구가 무처리구 및 ethylene oxide 처리구보다 유의적으로 우수함을 나타냈다.

Contamination of the 6MV Linear Accelerator Photon Beam by Electrons (6MV 전자 선형 가속기 광자선의 전자오염)

  • The 6 MV photon beam of a linear accelerator (Mevatron 67) was studied for electron contamination. The surface dose, attributable almost entirely to contamination electrons, has a linear dependence on field width for square fields and an inverse square dependence on distance from the bottom of the fixed head assembly. Build-up and surface dose measurements were taken with and without an acrylic blocking tray in place. Further measurements were made with a copper filter designed to reduce secondary electrons emitted by photon interactions with the acrylic tray. The results are discussed in relation to skin sparing effect for radiation therapy patients. To achieve the maximum skin sparing effect, the selection of the optimum SSD and TSD is needed.

  • Decontamination means every method that can drop the level of the radioactivities from the materials contaminated with them to the allowable one. In this paper, one of the decontamination methods, the electro-decontamination was described with lots of experiments. Two test specimens contaminated with alpha ray and beta ray respectively were used to compare the decontamination factors between two rays and many experiments were performed in every electrolyte with SUS and Carbon steel test specimens. Sulphuric acid, phosphoric acid, nitric acid, citric acid and oxalic acid were used as the electrolyte. Decontamination Factors (DF) could be compared and analyzed with different electrolyte, current intensities and time.

Case Study of Radiation Protection and Radiation Exposure (방사능 노출과 방사선 보호 사례 연구)

  • Recently, it is increasing that a issue of concern about radiation exposure. It affects soil, water, air, crops, etc., and in the long term, environmental pollution and food pollution occur, and it is considered to cause social problems and economic damage. Radiation exposure causes diseases and health problems, but as a method for diagnosing diseases, nuclear medicine tests such as X-ray imaging, CT, and PET-CT are conducted, and radiation isotopes are exposed for the purpose of cancer treatment. A Hungarian case study on radiation in water, particularly drinking water, following the release of radioactive waste from Fukushima, and an examination of the Larsemann Hills area in Antarctica, found that it was within the prescribed radioactivity limits of drinking water recommended by the World Health Organization. We looked at radioprotective agents, focusing on DNA damage, cell and organ damage, and cancer, and also investigated various literatures on ACE inhibitors, antioxidants, and natural substances among restoration materials. Although exposed to radiation in everyday life, the reason why it can be safe is probably because there is a radiation protection material and a recovery material for radiation exposure, so we are trying to find possible materials.
