Reactive compatibilization of liquid crystalline polymer/ethylene-acrylic acid ionomer blends (액정 고분자/에틸렌-아크릴산 이오노머 블렌드의 반응상용화에 관한 연구)

  • This paper describes the reactive compatibilization of blends of a wholly aromatic thermotropic copolyester liquid crystalline polymer (TLCP) with random copolymers of ethylene and acrylic acid (EAA) and their salts. Blends were prepared by melt mixing in an intensive batch mixer, and the formation of a graft copolymer due to acidolysis between the TLCP and the acrylic acid group of the ionomer was evaluated. Chemical reaction was assessed by torque measurement during melt mixing and by thermal analysis and morphological observation. The Na-salt of the EAA ionomers was especially effective at promoting a grafting reaction. The extent of reaction depended not only on the cation, but also composition of the ionomer and reaction time. The product of the grafting reaction between the TLCP and a sodium-neutralized ionomer proved to be an effective compatibilizer for TLCP and EAA ionomers.

Can the theory of agent causation be a help to an agent's control? (행위자 원인은 행위자의 통제력에 도움을 주는가?)

  • In this paper I explore the theory of agent causation proposed by T. O'Connor. According to the theory, we can't explain an agent's control over his intention and action without appealing to 'agent causes events'(shortly, ACEs). But I argue that ACEs can't be a help to an agent's control over his intention and action. For this I show that reason-responsiveness is a necessary condition for an agent's control. In order for ACEs to help in explaining an agent's control, ACEs must be able to satisfy 'reason-responsiveness condition'. But, ACEs fail to satisfy the condition. For this reason, I conclude that ACEs can't be a help to an agent's control over his intention and action.

An epidemiological study of human paragonimiasis by means of micro-ELISA (면역효소진단법을 이용한 폐흡충증 유행의 역학조사)

  • As epidemiological parameters of human paragonimiasis, the positive rates of intradermal test and the sputum/stool ekaminations have long been employed in population surveys. However, both the specificity of the intradermal test and the sensitivity of sputumjstool examination have been gradually declined as the endemicity was lowered; thus the gap between above two parameters widened. In such context, the development of a new epidemiologic parameter or tool which makes it possible to accurately discriminate the active paragonimiasis cases was necessary. In the present study, the detection rate of Paragonimus-speclac IgG antibody by micro-ELISA was evaluated as an indicator of epidemiologic status of human paragonimiasis in a population. A total of 4, 285 students and inhabitants living in Bukpyeong Myeon and Bukil Myeon, Haenam Gun, Jeonlanam Do was surveyed in October, 1983 by intradermal test first. Out of them, 244 cases (5.7%) were found positively reacted to VBS antigen of F. westermani. Out of 168 positive reactors, 7 cases (4.2%) were egg positive either by two times of sputum examination or by one stool examination. That indicated that only 0. 16% of total surveyed were confirmed as active paragonimiasis by egg detection. When sera collected from 239 positive reactors of Intradermal test were tested by micro-ELISA for their specific IgG antibody, 40 cases(16.7%) were found to be positive. All of 7 egg positive cases were again positive for specific IgG antibody. Among remaining 232 intradermal test positive cases, 33 cases were positive for IgG antibody. In contrast to those, none of 42 positive reactors to intradermal test for Cloncrchis and of 128 intradermal test negative cases showed positive for Paragcnimus-specIfic IgG antibody. The rate of specific IgG antibody as detected by micro-ELISA appeared to be increased with the wheal size of the intradermal test. When the wheal sixte was over 13mm in diameter, about 50% of them were positive for specific IgG antibody. Thirty-one specific antibody positive cases were clinically evaluated by laboratory examinations (repeated sputum examination, peripheral eosinophil count and chest roentgenogram) and by history taking. Out of them 24 cases were associated with one or more positive laboratory findings: thus considered as active paragonimiasis cases. Out of 7 lab. finding-free cases 3 revealed past history of typical paragonimiasis symptoms, suggesting that they were in chronic or in convalescent stages. The remaining 4 cases were considered as either mild or ectopic infection cases; the possibility of cross-reaction with other helminthiases could not be ruled out. From the above results, it was inferred that the detection of Paragonimus-specIfic IgG antibody by micro-ELISA was very much helpful in detecting the active cases as well as in proper evaluation of the endemicity of human paragonimiasis in a population. The convenience of mass haildling of sera in micro-ELISA was considered another superiority as an epidemiologic tool.

Analysis of Teaching Types and Obstacles of Chemistry Teachers through Teacher Educational Programs for Responsive Teaching (반응적 교수를 위한 교사교육 프로그램을 통한 화학교사의 교수 유형 및 장애 요인 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to subdivide responsive teaching types proposed in the previous study in order to observe the change in the responsive teaching types in teacher educational programs, and to identify factors that impede changes in responsive teaching types. To this end, an educational program including introduction of responsive teaching, case analysis of responsive teaching, individual assignments and group discussions on facilitator type educational scenarios is provided for chemistry teachers who participated in a chemistry education course established in a graduate school of education. Based on previous research, when the teacher's teaching method was analyzed as evaluator, transfer, guide and facilitatore, a type that could not be classified was observed. In this study, responsive teaching types were added by adding two types: explorer and interpreter. In addition, through individual assignments and group discussion data, we could observe the factors that hinder teachers' responsive teaching changes. The obstacles that impede the change to responsive teaching were classified into teacher factors, student factors, and environmental factors. Among the obstacles, teacher factors include a belief in teacher-led instruction, a belief in the role of a teacher as a transfer of knowledge, a belief that the curriculum should be followed, a lack of understanding of the teacher about students, and a lack of the teacher's ability to lead student-led expansion. The student factor was distrust of the student's competence. Also, as an environmental factor, there was an educational environment such as multi-students class. Effective teacher education on responsive teaching can be achieved only when the perception related to these obstacles can be removed.

  • 광고는 우리 생활 속에 많은 영향을 끼친다. 광고는 다양한 분야에서 활용되고 있으며, 새로운 기술과 사회문화 전반을 반영하기 때문에 다양한 정보와 지식을 필요로 한다. 광고 제작자는 다양한 광고 수용자 층을 포괄하기 위해 다채로운 전달 매체와 기법 등을 이용하여 광고 크리에이티브(광고 제작을 위한 아이디어) 전략을 수립하게 된다. 이를 바탕으로 광고 메시지의 효과적인 전달을 위하여 크리에이티브 컨셉(광고의 주요 소재, 테마)을 세우게 되는데, 이 때 주목하는 점은 독창적이고 영향력이 있는 아이디어야 한다는 것이다. 광고는 대중매체를 통해 전달되므로 목표 수용자의 크기는 쉽게 예상할 수는 있다. 하지만 제작의 과정은 복잡하고 창의적인 방향을 지향하므로 수용자를 고려하였다고 하더라도 어떤 반응을 일으키는지 예측하는 것은 어렵다. 본 논문에서는 이미 매체를 통해 전달된 광고들을 광고의 제작과정에서 사용되는 요소 중에서 수용자들이 평가 가능한 기준을 설정해 수용자들의 반응을 수집, 수치화하여 결정트리에 적용하였다. 이률 이용하여 새로이 제작되는 광고가 수용자에게 어떤 반응을 불러일으킬지 판단하는 시스템을 설계하였다.

Fabrication of Polymer Thin Films on Solid Substrates (고체 기판에 고분자 박막의 고정화)

  • Surface properties are important for determining the functions and uses of materials. So modification of materials with polymer thin films has emerged as an important method to control the physical and chemical properties of the surface layer. We report a simple and effective method to photochemically attach thin polymeric layers to solid surface without chemical derivatization of the substrate and/or the polymer. The system is based on a photoreactive poly(4-vinylpyridine) (P4VP) thin film which is formed on the $SiO_{2}$ surface via spin coating. This substrate is then covered with another polymer film that is reacted with the benzyl radical moieties by UV irradiation. As a result of photochemical reaction, a thin layer of the later polymer is covalently bound to the surface of P4VP. Unbounded polymer is removed by sonication. The thickness of the attached film is a function of the irradiation time and the molecular weight of the polymer. Spatially defined polymer thin films can be fabricated by way of photolithography.

  • The objective of this study is to develop a methodology for evaluating the effectiveness of in-vehicle pedestrian warning systems. Driving Simulator-based experiments were conducted to collect data to represent driver's responsive behavior. The braking frequency, lane change duration, and collision speed were used as measure of effectiveness (MOE) to evaluate the effectiveness. Collision speed data obtained from the simulation experiments were further used to predict pedestrian injury severity. Results demonstrated the effectiveness of warning information systems by reducing the pedestrian injury severity. It is expected that the proposed evaluation methodology and outcomes will be useful in developing various vehicular technologies and relevant policies to enhance pedestrian safety.

  • In this paper, we propose the automatic demand response systems which reduce the electric power consumption for the period automatically distinct from the existing passive demand response that a subscriber directly controls the energy consumption. The proposed systems are based on SEP 2.0 and consist of the demand response management program, the demand response server, and the demand response client. The demand response program shows the current status of the electric power use to a subscriber and supports the function which the administrator enables to creates or cancels a demand response event. The demand response server transmits the demand response event received from the demand response management program to the demand response client through SEP 2.0 protocol, and it stores the metering data from the demand response client in a database. After extracting the data, such as the demand response the start time, the duration, the reduction level, the demand response client reduces the electric power consumption for the period.

  • This paper presents the online assessment questions management system and method. The proposed system consists of a database to store learner information and zone-specific items grouped by difficulty and item bank. This database includes: an item selection department and authoring assessment to select questions about a particular learner or specific learning item. In this paper, we propose: an item bank database which stores online output assessments; and an online test department to collect and sort learner evaluation data and answer selection order for online tests, click statistics, response time, and analysis unit response patterns department by analyzing the data collected by the online learners' test assessment, learners' level and ability, the diagnosis and assessment of report propensity. The proposed system will diagnose and effectively evaluate the learner's learning levels and learning ability by: answer selection order, number of clicks, and response time reflected in the results of the learners' evaluations.

The short-term longitudinal mediation effect of parental responsiveness in the effect of mother's smart device overdependence on children's overindulgence tendency (어머니의 스마트기기 과의존이 아동 초기 스마트기기 몰입경향성에 미치는 영향에서 양육자 반응성의 단기종단적 매개효과)

  • This study examined an effect of mother's smart device overdependence and short-term longitudinal mediation effect of mother's responsiveness on children's overindulgence tendency in smart devices. A total 144 children-mother dyads(male 73, female 71) participated in the study. The results of path analysis were as follows. The mother's smart phone overdependence and children's overindulgence tendency in smart devices were measured at time 1 and mother's responsiveness and children's overindulgence tendency were measured at time 2, six months later. When Time 1 children's overindulgence tendency in smart devices was controlled, Time 1 mother's smart phone overdependence significantly predicted time 2 children's overindulgence tendency. This study suggested empirical findings that caregiver's smart device were related with children's overindulgence tendency.
