  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of aerobic exercise training and half bath on blood component, cardiorespiratory function, and vascular compliance of middle-aged obese men. The subjects were 3 groups; aerobic exercise(n=10), half bath(n=10), and controlled group(n=10). They were tested on their blood component, cardiorespiratory function, and vascular compliance at the beginning and at the end of the 12-week study(pre-post test). For data analysis, mean and standard deviation scores were calculated, and repeated measure two-way ANOVA and Scheffe were used. The results of this study are as follows. First, aerobic exercise group was significantly improved on all blood component after the 12-weeks, and showed significant difference among groups. Half bath group was better than control groups on Triglyceride, LDL-C, and HDL-C levels. Second, aerobic exercise group was significantly improved on maximum oxygen uptake, maximum heart rate, and maximum ventilation after the 12-weeks. Third, in vascular compliance measured in both hands and both feet, the half bath group and aerobic exercise training group were significantly increases the control group. Therefore, these results imply that aerobic exercise and half bath can be helpful for better blood component, cardiorespiratory function, and vascular compliance in middle-aged obese men.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the human body effect according to micro bubble and LED lighting in half body bathing. This study was conducted on 6 elderly male and 7 female in 70's, and the subjects were classified into half body bathing with the micro bubble group (3 male, 4 female) and without the micro bubble group (3 male, 3 female) to proceed to the experiment. Experiments were performed 4 times by changing the LED lighting colors. As a result, parasympathetic nerves were activated than sympathetic nerves (micro bubble stimulation : 21.41%) and the temperature of the body were increased by $5.93^{\circ}C$ with micro bubble and red lighting stimulation. It is considered that this work will help to utilize the half body bathing system for the micro bubble and LED lighting.

  • This study was carried out to examine the impacts of lower body meridian hand therapy on changes in obese women's body composition and blood lipid. 30 obese women participated in the experiment carried out twice a week for 5 weeks on 15 subjects in lower body meridian hand therapy group and 15 lower-body bathing/lower body meridian hand therapy group. For changes in body composition, BMI, body fat and waist-hip ratio decreased in both groups, while for changes in blood lipid, TC, LDL-C and TG decreased while HDL-C increased by 0.98% in the former group while 1.12% in the latter group. Thus, the 5-week treatment of lower body meridian hand therapy was effective for improving body composition, decrease of blood lipid and of middle-aged obese women, so which can be recommended as lower body obesity management program in esthetics.
