Effects of Silencer Design on the Performance of Jet-fan (제트홴 소음기 형상이 성능에 미치는 영향)

  • In this paper, a numerical study has been carried out to investigate the influence of silencer design variables on the performance of a jet fan. In order to achieve an optimum jet fan design and to explain the interactions between the different geometric configurations in the jet fan, three-dimensional computational fluid dynamics and the Design of Experiments method have been applied. Two geometric variables, i.e., cap size and silencer length, were employed to improve the performance of the jet fan. The objective functions of the jet fan are defined as the effective velocity and total efficiency at the operating condition. Based on the results of computational analyses, the flow characteristics were discussed. The effect of silencer with a specific roughness on the performance was also discussed.

Structural Performance Evaluation of Bolt Connection for Half-sphere Joint between PHC Pile and Steel Column (강재기둥-PHC 파일 간 반구형 접합부(HAT Joint)의 볼트 연결에 대한 구조성능평가)

  • To overcome the weakness of spread foundation in large space structure, the research of precast pile for replace spread foundation have been conducted. The new type of joint between PHC pile and steel column is named HAT Joint(Hollow hAlf-sphere cast-sTeel Joint). It connected PHC Pile by bolt that verification of bolt connection should be accomplished. In this paper, pull-out test and flexural performance for HAT Joint to verifying the bolt connection is explained. As a result, the pull-out and flexural capacities of bolt were checked to use in real structure. Furthermore, the equation of pull-out strength was proposed.

Prevent Air-core During Draining with Semi Spherical Mesh (반구형 그물망을 이용한 배수시 생성되는 공기 기둥 억제 연구)

  • When draining takes place through an axially located drain port in a cylindrical tank without any prevent, a vortex with an air core occurs. In this study, semi spherical concave and convex meshes with different size inner hole are used to find the air core can suppress. The study is carried out with different values of inner hole of mesh and different install direction of semi spherical mesh using PIV and measured velocity distribution. By providing a mesh, the air core can be prevented, even if the ratio of inner hole of mesh and diameter of cylinder is around 0.66. The experimental results show that a convex mesh type is more effective to suppress the air core generation than a concave mesh type.

  • An electron energy analyzer for Angle Resolved Ultraviolet Photoelectron Spectroscopy (ARUPS) has been constructed and tested. This analyzer consists of tandem 3 element electron lenses and two concentric hemispherical capacitors. Electronic structure of clean Cu(100) surface has been studied to test the feature of the analyzer. The ultimate energy resolution is 40 me V and angle resolution is $0.2^{\circ}$.

  • In this paper, signal detection and control circuits for hemispherical resonator gyroscope(HRG) are designed, simulated and tested. HRG is one of the coriolis vibratory gyroscope(CVG) which has very stable quartz hemispherical resonator and shows very precise performance. HRG signals are usually modulated at the several kHz of resonant frequency. So the general control scheme cannot be applied directly because general control schemes mainly focused at low frequency range. Using demodulated and modulated PI control scheme with the signal detection which is presented in this paper, performance of manufactured HRG has tested.

  • In Part I, we disccussed of joint between PHC pile and steel column in foundation of large space structures, one prototype of a joint of PHC pile to steel pipe column was suggested on the basis of analytical studies. In this paper, I explain the Joint of PHC pile to steel tube column and more detail of analysis.

  • To overcome disadvantages of usual spread foundation in large space structure, some prototypes of a joint of the PHC pile to steel pipe column that directly connects a column to a PHC pile are analytically studied. With the consideration of strength requirement and stress concentration of joint of the PHC pile to column, we suggest the most appropriate one.

  • The use of small hemispherical high-speed precision bearing has increased drastically these days in the field of computer disk driver, highteech devices as well as communication and electronic device drivers. It was suggested that the new polishing process adopting the diamond grinding wheel and polishing tool instead of multi stage lapping processes, which enables the mass production of the bearing by reduction of polishing time. Polishing mechanism was analysed and the results were applied to the design and manufacturing of the polishing system. Experiments for selection of optimal polishing conditions were carried out using the polishing system.

  • This paper deals with the establishment of the cutting direction on inclined plane by using ball end mill. Ball-end milling is widely used for free form surface die and mold. In these machining, the cutting parts vary because the tool tip is hemisphere shaped. The cutting characteristics, such as cutting force, surface roughness and surface profile are varied according to the variation of cutting directions. The effective tool diameter was calculated on different tilt angles and tool-path. Tool life and cutting characteristics were estimated on variation of cutting directions in the same cutting speed. In this paper, the optimal cutting direction which can be applied 3-D sculpture surface cutting is suggested.

  • In this paper, we fabricated a pair of circulaly polarized conical horn antennas for evaluating the scattering characteristics of a hemispherical reflector and of propagation characteristics in in-building environments, which is required for constructing a new wireless in-building communication system of microwave band consisted of a hemispherical reflector installed on the ceiling. The measurements show the fairly good features such that cross-polarization discremination more than 27 dB and axial-ratio less than 1.25 dB.
