압축하중을 받는 박판 4각튜브의 소성좌굴 연구 (Study on the Plastic Buckling of Thin Rectangular Tubes under Compression)

  • In the present paper the plastic buckling of thin-walled rectangular tube is analyzed. The stress-strain relations of the plates of the tube are idealized into nonlinear material of Ramberg and Osgood. Computing elastic moduli of the nonlinear material a precise plastic buckling stress has determined. The plastic buckling stress of the wider plate of the tube is considered as the crippling strength of the tube. The present theory is in good agreement with the experiments in various thickness-width ratios and materials.

  • A model for analysis of the crushing mechanism of thin-walled rectangular tube is presented. The crushing modes of rectangular tubes may be characterized as either compact or noncompact and the model presented only considers compact modes. The unloading process in the crushing are categorized into three different stages where the distinction is based on the ratio of outward to inward fold length. Using the kinematic relations and the energy conservation principle, the instantaneous crush load is derived. An approximate equation that considers the rolling behavior is also given so that the crush load history may be established. The equation is experimentally proved.

  • In this study, collapse behavior of frame composed of thin-walled rectangular tube is investigated. Considering the collapse of frame, the bending and compression members undergo large deformation. The stiffness of the compound element is obtained from analytical moment-rotation relationship and approximated load-deflection relationsh- ip of thin-walled rectangular tube. A computer program is developed for the large deformation analysis of frame. An incremental displacement method is used in the program and at each incremental stage, the stiffness matrix of the total structure is checked with the state of each element for bending and compression.

  • Assuming that the static loaded square tube and the dynamic loaded one have no difference in their characteristics of the crush distance, the theoretical mean dynamic crush load was calculated with respect to the impact speed considering the strain rate sensitivity of the material. The ratio of dynamic to static mean crush load was predicted with previous results. The theoretical analysis was compared with the experimental results of aluminum square tubes axially loaded dynamically.
