Mason의 논문 Current and Future Micro-computer Capabilities; Selecting the Hardware를 번역한 것이다. Mason박사는 죠지아 공대에서 시스템공학을 전공하고 도서관 및 사무자동화의 자문용역회사를 운영하고 있다. Library Journal의 ‘Mason on Micros'라는 고정 칼럼의 집필자이기도 하다.

분자생물학의 명문인 미국 위스콘신대학에서 논문 '대장균 유전자 전사과정의 메커니즘'으로 박사학위를 받은 노정혜교수. 항생제를 만드는 방선균이 환경변화에 대응할 수 있도록 하는 유전자연구를 계속하고 있는 노교수는 "오묘한 생명현상들을 가장 기본적인 분자세계에서 규명해내는 연구작업이 보람스럽다"고 밝히고 있다.

1965년 30명의 회원으로 창립한 한국천문학회는 현재 회원이 4백60명으로 늘어났으며 박사학위 소지자만 60여명이나 된다. 특히 작년엔 1AU아시아태평양지역회의를 열어 2백27편의 논문이 발표되었으며 매년 봄ㆍ가을 학술발표회를 개최하는 등 연구활동을 계속하고 있다.

웃음은 세상에서 가장 아름다운 언어로 자신은 물론 다른 사람들까지 행복하게 한다. 더불어 건강에도 효과적이다. 여성의 평균수명이 남성보다 더 긴 이유 중 하나도 여자가 남자보다 더 수용적이고 긍정적이며 잘 웃기 때문이라고 한다. 여러 박사들은 논문이나 세미나를 통해 많이 웃을수록 건강하게 오래 살 수 있다고 말한다. 이런 시점에서 웃음이 질병 치료방법의 하나로 서서히 자리를 잡아가고 있다.

Purposes: The purpose of this study was to identify recent trends of experimental research by analyzing doctoral dissertations in all colleges of nursing in Korea. Methods: The areas of research, the content, methodological and intervention characteristics used in this study were explored in experimental research on doctoral dissertations (n=132) published from 2006 to 2010. Results: In the issues of research, practice/clinical issues were most frequently used. As to outcome measurement, physiological variables increased more than psychological/emotional variables. Most theory applied in the research was taken from other disciplines, and nursing theory was only Roy's adaptation theory. A large majority of the research was quasi-experimental designs and the number of true-experimental designs was very low. In more than half of the dissertations, internal validity was not described, and the described external validity rate was very low. There were more single intervention programs than bundle ones and education/exercise programs were most frequently used as the source of intervention. Conclusion: Doctoral dissertations need to increase and encourage more high quality experimental research to expand nursing knowledge and to develop evidence based nursing practice.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the theoretical characteristics and direction of inquiry in the discipline of nursing by analyzing doctoral dissertations. Method: The materials used in this study were 277 doctoral dissertations from five universities in Korea. The framework for the study was derived from Kim's(l993) alternative linkage among philosophy, theory, and method in nursing science. Result: Of the 277 dissertations it was found that there were 13 types of linkages out of a possible 54 types. Most of the dissertations (128 of 277) were done within the linkage of realism/etic/quantitative/explanatory knowledge type. Of the 218 dissertations within scientific realism, 42 were within relativism, and 17 within practicism. There were 134 dissertations of the explanatory knowledge type, 112 descriptive ones, and 31 prescriptive ones. Studies done within the etic quantitative methodology included 209 dissertations and within the emic perspective, 43 with qualitative methodology, and 7 with quantitative. Conclusion: The results show that it is necessary to develop more alternative linkages for nursing practice and this will lead to expanding nursing knowledge.
