원심압축기 밀폐형 임펠러 형상에 따른 성능특성 파악을 위한 유동해석 (Flow Analysis for Performance Characteristics with Closed Type Impeller Shapes of a Centrifugal Compressor)

  • 원심압축기 운전 중에 발생하는 고주기 피로균열이나 공진 등은 임펠러 파손의 주된 원인이다. 이러한 파손을 회피하기 위해 공진영역 운전에서도 견딜 수 있는 충분한 강도의 임펠러를 설계하거나, 공진이 발생하지 않도록 임펠러를 튜닝 한다. 이러한 회피설계는 임펠러 내부유동 및 성능특성 변화를 야기하게 된다. 본 연구에서는 밀폐형 임펠러에 대해 블레이드 두께를 증가시킨 모델과 스켈럽을 적용한 모델에 대한 유동 및 성능특성을 파악하기 위해 전산해석을 수행하였다. 전산해석 결과, 블레이드 두께 증가 모델 경우는 기본모델 대비 압력계수가 0.5% 감소하였으며, 전효율은 0.1% 감소하였다. 스켈럽 적용모델은 압력계수가 0.4% 증가하였으며, 전효율은 1.6% 감소하였다.

  • The effect of break down of centrifugal pump due to entrained air has not been clarified yet. Thus, air-water two-phase flow experimental apparatus was installed to clarify the effect of break down. The performance results of a single-phase flow satisfied reappearance. Also, the heads coincided well impeller types.

  • An impeller is difficult to machine due to the complex, overlapping and twisted shapes that form the blades of an impeller. Therefore, most CAM software companies have developed a CAM module for manufacturing an impeller in addition to their CAM software. However, it is not easy for inexperienced users to machine impellers. The purpose of this paper is to outline the development of an automatic CAM module for the manufacturing of an impeller (E-ICAM) which is based on visual basic language and which uses a CATIA graphical environment in order to simplify the machining of impellers. The automatic CAM module generates a tool path and proposes the recommended cutting condition according to the stock and tool material. In addition, it includes a post-processor for five-axis control machining. Therefore, a user can easily machine impellers using this automation module. There are two types of impellers: the closed and open types. The closed-type impeller consists of the body and cover parts. To combine these two parts, it is necessary to create tap holes on the shroud of the body. Therefore, in the study, a drilling CAM program for a closed-type impeller is developed and manufactured by creating NC data from the developed drilling program. After manufacturing the test specimen, its compatibility was verified.

  • Recent trends of a centrifugal pump are high speed in rotation and high pressure in head with high efficiency to meet the demands of industries. However, the newly developed pumps make trouble of pressure pulsation in the pumping system by performance instability of the pump. Moreover, cavitation, which is a main obstacle of high rotational speed in the pump, occurring in an impeller gives serious damages to the impeller and casing wall. The purpose of present study is not only to develop a simple method to improve pump performance but also to suppress the occurrence of cavitation in the centrifugal pump by use of J-Groove. J-Groove is a shallow groove installed on the casing wall in the meridional direction. The application of J-Groove to a centrifugal pump with a new type impeller of "semi-closed impeller" has proved its effectiveness as a useful countermeasure of the unstable pump performance and cavitation. The results show that the combination of semi-closed impeller and J-Groove can be applied successfully and improves both the pump performance and suction performance.
