Analysis of Pore Characteristics on the Porous Body-Porosity Index of Ic and Is in Light Weight Aggregate (다공체 소지의 기공 특성 분석-경량골재에서의 기공지수 Ic와 Is에 대하여)

  • EAF (Electric Arc Furnace) dust is classified as special wastes containing heavy metal contaminants may cause to damage an environment such as underground water contamination if they were not treated properly. For reutilizing the EAF dust, the porous body was made from EAF dust/clay composition system, and analyzed pore characteristics. It was found that a light-aggregate body was made up two different microstructures. One was non-black and dense microstructure which located near surface, and the other was black and porous microstructure (black coring) which located inner part. For systematizing the relationship of the black-coring area and the bloating degree, we defined the Ic(core index) and Is(shell index). It was found that the optimal bloating conditions of artificial light-weight aggregate were more than 0.5 of Ic and 0.4 of Is.

Design and Fabrication of a Micro-Heat Pipe with High-Aspect-Ratio Microchannels (고세장비 미세채널 기반의 마이크로 히트파이프 설계 및 제조)

  • The cooling capacity of a micro-heat pipe is mainly governed by the magnitude of capillary pressure induced in the wick structure. For microchannel wicks, a higher capillary pressure is achievable for narrower and deeper channels. In this study, a metallic micro-heat pipe adopting high-aspect-ratio microchannel wicks is fabricated. Micromachining of high-aspect-ratio microchannels is done using the laser-induced wet etching technique in which a focused laser beam irradiates the workpiece placed in a liquid etchant along a desired channel pattern. Because of the direct writing characteristic of the laser-induced wet etching method, no mask is necessary and the fabrication procedure is relatively simple. Deep microchannels of an aspect ratio close to 10 can be readily fabricated with little heat damage of the workpiece. The laser-induced wet etching process for the fabrication of high-aspect-ratio microchannels in 0.5mm thick stainless steel foil is presented in detail. The shape and size variations of microchannels with respect to the process variables, such as laser power, scanning speed, number of scans, and etchant concentration are closely examined. Also, the fabrication of a flat micro-heat pipe based on the high-aspect-ratio microchannels is demonstrated.

  • Effects of additives on electrical properties and microstructure of MLCC X7R dielectrics have been investigated. The additives of glass frit or oxide form were added in the same main composition by the different powder processing conditions. As a result of the dielectric property and microstructure analysis, the composition having the glass layer with dopant concentration gradient showed the excellent dielectric properties. The MLCCs were fabricated with the excellent composition and all dielectric properties satisfied the X7R requirements.

  • To overcome unstability of ascorbic acid, liposome was used to encapsulate it. Ascorbic acid was encapsulated with 46.8% efficiency inside soybean phosphatidyl choline liposomes by the dehydration-rehydration method. Stability of encapsulated ascorbic acid in liposome was enhanced compared to that in free aqueous solution. For example, most of ascorbic acid in acetate buffer (pH 5.0) was oxidized after 7 days, however, that in liposome was remained as reduced form with 22.8% after 40 days at same conditions. These results mean that encapsulation of ascorbic acid in liposome could provide protection tool for improvement in shelf life.

  • By the mechanical alloying method Ni-W(WC) composite materials were prepared to improve the resistance for creep and sintering of Ni-anode at the operating temperature of$ 650^{\circ}C$. Amorphization was observed from the XRD analysis of mechanically alloyed powder caused by the destruction of ordered crystals. Sintering was performed at $1280^{\circ}C$ for 10 hours in $H_2$ atmosphere. From the result of dot-mapping and TEM analysis the second phase was not observed at Ni-W interface while W particles of less 0.lam were distributed finely and uniformly in Ni matrix. This finely and uniformly distributed W in Ni matrix is expected to enhance the mechanical properties of Ni-anode through the dispersion and solid solution hardening mechanisms.

U-10wt%Zr 합금의 미세조직에 미치는 합금원소 첨가의 영향에 관한 연구

  • 고연소도 액체금속로용 금속연료를 개발하고자 U-l0wt%Zr 합금중 Zr 원소 대신에 X(:Si, Ta, Nb, W, Mo) 원소를 첨가한 U-7wt%Zr-3wt%X(:Si, Ta, Nb, W, Mo) 합금을 제조하여 미세조직에 미치는 합금원소 첨가의 영향을 조사하였다. 그 결과 U-7 wt%Zr-3wt%Si 합금을 제외한 모든 U-7wt%Zr-3wt%X(:Ta, Nb, W, Mo) 합금은 Matrix에 있어서 Laminar Structure를 그대로 유지하였다. U-7wt%Zr-3wt%Si 함금을 제외한 모든 U-7wt%Zr-3wt%X(:Ta, Nb, W, Mo) 합금의 주요한 상은 U-l0wt% Zr 합금과 마찬가지로 $\alpha$-U 및 $\delta$-UZr$_2$ 상이었다. U-7wt%Zr-3wt%X(:Ta, Nb, W, Mo) 합금은 U-l0wt%Zr 합금에 비해 Lamina Thickness가 크게 감소되었다. 특히 U-7wt%Zr-3wt%Mo 합금의 경우에 있어서는 U-l0wt%Zr 합금에 비해 1/3배 정도까지 Lamina Thickness가 크게 감소하였다. 이와 같은 합금원소 첨가에 의한 Laminar Structure의 미세화는 액체금속로강 금속연료내 Fission Gas의 Inter-connected Path가 보다 더 잘 형성됨으로 인해 Fission Gas Bubble에 대한 방출속도를 크게 증가시켜서 궁극적으로는 Fission Gas Bubble에 의한 Swelling을 저감시킬 것으로 기대된다.

Effect of TiC amount on Fracture Toughness of materials for glasses lens cutting (TiC함량이 안경렌즈 절삭용 재료 파괴인성에 미치는 영향)

  • The SiC-TiC composites materials for glasses lens cutting were fabricated by hot-pressing and annealing. The amount of TiC was 0, 10, 20, 30wt% in the mixture of ${\beta}-SiC$. The microstructure of materials for glasses lens cutting was very dependent on the TiC amount. The introduction of larger amount of TiC improved fracture toughness, optical microscope and XRD analysis of the surface of samples were carried out. An in situ-toughened microstructure, consisted of distributed elongated SiC, matrix like TiC grains was developed by using ${\beta}-SiC$. Typical hardness and fracture toughness of materials for spectacle lens cutting were 14.9 GPa and $5.7MPa{\cdot}m^{1/2}$, respectively.

  • The solubility of triclosan, an anti-acne agent was measured in supercritical carbon dioxide ($scCO_2$) with a variable volume view cell at 313.15, 323.15, and 333.15 K and at pressures between 10 and 40 MPa. We successfully correlated triclosan solubility in $scCO_2$ using the quasi-chemical nonrandom lattice fluid (QLF) equation of state. Triclosan was micronized using the rapid expansion of supercritical solutions (RESS) process. The effects of temperature and pressure on particle size were investigated using phase behavior data and correlated results from the QLF model.

  • The effect of catalysts which was catalyzed by acid($HNO_3$) and base ($NH_4OH$) or not on the surface microst-ructures and consequent dielectric characteristics of the $PbTiO_3$ thin films prepared by sol-gel method were investigated. The result indicated that bse catalyst promoted the phase transformation of perovskite phase while acid catalyst was found to produce most uniform surface microstructure and improved dielectric properties However degradation of properties due to secondary phase formation and non-uniform microstructure at high annealing temperature (>75$0^{\circ}C$) by rapid diffusion of lead was unavoidable in any case as long as $Si_{(100)}$ \ $SiO_2$ \Pt substrate used.

Process Development for in-situ Transverse Orientation of TLCP Fibril in PC/TLCP Blends (액정고분자 복합계의 in-situ 횡단면 배향을 위한 공정개발)

  • 액정고분자/폴리카보네이트 혼합계로 구성된 분자복합계를 쉬트상으로 가공할 때 취 약해지기 쉬운 횡단면 방향의 물성을 향상시키기 위하여 미세섬유상의 배향을 in-situ 상태 로 적절히 제어할수 있는 Simultaneous Convergent-Divergent(SCD) 다이를 설계·제작하 고 압출실험을 수행하여 얻은 압출 쉬트를 대상으로 구조-물성-가공의 상관관계를 조사하 였다. 액정고분자의 첨가 함량에 따른 토오크와 토출량의 변화는 액정고분자를 10wt% 소량 첨가하였음에도 현저한 감소 효과를 보였으며 약 30wt%일 때 최소로되었다. 이는 액정고분 자가 보강 기능외에 가공특성의 개선에도 큰 효과가 있어 가공조제로서의 가능성을 보이는 결과로 혼합계의 유변학적 특성 결과에서도 확인할수 있었다. 또 DSC와 DMA를 이용한 열 분석 결과 액정고분자의 함량이 증가함에 따라 PC의 유리전이온도가 다소 감소하는 현상을 보임에 미루어 이 혼합계는 부분적으로 상용성을 갖는 것으로 볼수 있으며 모폴로지 분석을 통해서도 이를 확인할수 있었다. TLCP/PC 혼합계로 구성되는 분자복합재를 SCD 다이를 사용하여 제조한 압출 쉬트의 방향성에 따른 기계적 물성은 기존의 쉬트 다이보다 흐름방향 으로는 다소 낮은 물성치를 보이지만 횡단면 방향으로는 물성이 현저히 향상됨을 관찰할수 있었다. 모폴로지 분석결과 기존의 쉬트 다이의 경우 벽면 부근에서는 액정고분자가 미세섬 유상으로 형성되어 흐름방향으로 배향되어 있지만 중심부에서는 액정 상태로 존재하는 반 면, SCD 다이의 경우 미세섬유상으로 형성된 액정고분자가 벽면에서부터 중심부로 갈수록 횡단면 방향으로 서서히 배향되어 있음을 확인할수 있었다.
