Minimal architecture is generally expressed in a simple and pure form, this characteristic of minimal architecture was first introduced by the architect, Mies Van der Roche, in the beginning of 20th century. The objective of this study is to identify wether minimal architecture is just a reappearance of the beginning of 20th century's modern architecture or a suitable form for contemporary aesthetics. As a result, it can be concluded that minimal architecture is based on human emotion and one's experienced perception which is very different from the modern architecture which is more focused on functionality and mechanical esthetics. Minimal architecture uses two systems which are multi-sensual perception and conceptual perception; however, it focuses more on conceptual perception which is also used in comtemporary architecture. In conclusion, simplicity is just one of the necessary conditions which is not sufficient enough to represent minimal architecture.

This research has started from a critical mind that raised a question how we will view the minimal tendencies of graphic design in historical context that is newly raised again after the late 1990s. In chapter 1, I examined the main ideas of the twentieth century such as "Less is more", "Less is boring", and "I believe in less and more". In chapter 2, I studied the minimal tendencies and the distinctions in graphic design by chronological order. 1 became to think that the recent minimal tendencies of graphic design appears naturally in the process of newly redefining ones specialty and identity from accepting the rapidly changing of social/cultural/technical changes rather than being temporary trend, Furthermore, I realized that considering the distinctiveness of design field, the research of the forms and styles of design itself is as an important and too much urgent task as the contents or ideological characters of designeological characters of design

This study studied five major films from the 1980s to the 2000s when Philip Glass's minimal music was used, and studied the aesthetic and functional meaning of the minimal music. Minimal music has a repetitive rhythm and is understood to be aesthetically monotonous, to avoid a particular purpose, or as an expression of moveless. On the one hand, it can mean infinite persistence by repetitive rhythms, or sometimes repetition with subtle changes. The functions of film music were applied as the function of film music common to many theorists. As a result of the analysis of the music in five films, the aesthetic meaning of Philip Glass's minimal music was most relevant to the characteristics of the film story, and the functional meaning of the film music was determined by the structure, form, and genre of the film. Therefore, the theme of the film and the contents of the story played an important role in the aesthetic interpretation of film music with repetitive rhythm characteristics. And the elements of the plot such as the structure, form, and genre of the film are thought to have had a significant effect on the functional interpretation of the film music. The aesthetic value of the film music is closely related to the story of the film, and the functional meaning of the film music is interpreted as determined by the formal elements of the film.

Minimal art, which began to flourish in the mid-1960s, explores perceptual situations caused by the involvement of objects in given site contexts. This has led to the mentions of minimal art as a site-specific art, but its limitations have also been pointed out. This study specifically addresses the limitations of minimal art as a site-specific art with two perceptual points of view. First, according to Michael Fried, situations described as 'now here' focus largely on the bodily experiences of a place. However, they do not rooted in specific time and space of a certain place. Second, the unique characteristics of a certain place are excluded from the perception of the body which occupies the passage of time. Self-sufficient algorithm, which is far from site-specific conditions, is the autonomous system creating the period in the way of arrangement of objects. In addition, Minimal art regards a body only as the objectivity excluding the subjectivity which is essential creating meaning in a place. In the latter part of the article, these features are dealt with through Donald Judd's works. This study on site-specificity also provides a new perspective on the discussion of Minimal architecture and Minimal landscape.

This study was attempted to analyze the tendency of minimalism shown in the contemporary jewelry. For this purpose, we figured out the property of Personal ornaments, and studied the conceptual, formal and formative tendency of minimalism shown in the jewelry. The minimal art gave a new inspiration to the people who preferred a visual simplicity, which had much effect in shifting the concept of the previous design which laid stress on "Ornaments". Therefore, in this thesis, we would analyze the property of such minimalism and the tendency appearing in the jewelry and contribute to the development of a variety of design with its application.

The purpose of this study is to observe the meaning of Minimalism and the characteristics in modem fashion design. The Minimalism appeared in 1960's has affect on fashion design which are simple miniskirt or Courrage look of those days. It leads a fashion system to the simple style goes with the life style of modem persons although the characteristics are somewhat different the styles in 1960's with those of 1990's. Minimal style is not just simple style but abbriviate expression constrained at the minimum. The styles appeared to be an undecorated simple line which are a sleeveless onepiece, a simple suit with no pocket and no collar and narrow shoulder. Colors are monochrome coordination and pursue a simplicity which is monotone variation. Patterns also appeared to be a geometric or abstract pattern for example check and stripe, which intend to minimum expression. Matirials are hightech glossy coating textures which have a futuristic image. In conclusion, the Minimalism in 1990's appeared to be a post-minimalism associated with postmodernism and a hightech-minimal under the technology development.

In recent years, with the focus on the younger generation, a minimal life that pursues a simple and light life has attracted attention, and a product that occupies a small space and has high practicality attracts attention. Therefore, a lot of studies on small but realistic products are going on by combining plural products into one. In this study, we developed a smart stand that can save space on the desk. The stand is equipped with a smartphone holder, humidifier, negative ion generator, and speaker functions. Because of this study, it is expected that the efficiency of space and economy will be improved in a small house of one person.

The purpose of this research is to study a case of the minimalism on Game Graphic User Interface design in Computer game. It is to analyse the minimal tendency on Game Graphic User Interface design in several Computer games such as Prince of Persia, Mirror's Edge, Splinter Cell, Gears of War, Call of Duty4, Metro 2033, Crysis2. These games expanded the field of Game Graphic User Interface design with the unique form of minimalism. Minimalism came from the formative arts in the 1960s and influenced to other fields of art. It seems to be an expression of various styles that promptly meet the needs of the times. Therefore, in this research, I would highlight the phenomenon of minimalisation in Game Graphic User Interface design and research the influence of Minimalism that appears in modern design focused on "simplicity" and "minimum" which are representative trend of Minimalism.

Following to current interior design that becoming more varied and composite, minimal tendency has also been changed. Furthermore, according to the lapse of time, minimalism, a space design, has been developed in a new look among such complex trends. Therefore, in this study, changes of tendency into a style of minimalism and characteristics thereof shown in interior design amid current of times were carefully reviewed, and local and foreign artists together with their works were investigated and analyzed having focused on the inclination of minimalism displayed in interiors of commercial spaces, especially before or after 2000s by dividing them into distinctive features in connection with space, material and type. It is thought that the interior space under the concept of minimalism will be changed and developed further in a variety of shapes to suit the environments in the current era getting rid of simple physical characteristics.
