  • The genus Rhogadopsis Brethes, 1913 (Hymenoptera: Braconidae: Opiinae), which mostly parasitizes mining flies (Diptera: Agromyzidae), has been considered to subgenus in the genus Opius Wesmael, 1835. However, according to having the derived wing venation and forming a monophyletic clade, the genus Rhogadopsis is elevated to generic rank. As results of faunal survey in Yeoseo-do, Jeonnam, South Korea, the male specimen of Rhogadosis obliqua were collected by sweeping. Diagnosis, description, distribution and diagnostic illustration of Rhogadopsis obliqua are provided.

  • Algific talus slopes provide microclimates suitable for disjunct or relict populations of northern plant species at low elevation habitats in the temperate zones. The propose of this study was to assess the phytogeographical significance and produce a strategy for the comprehensive conservation of the vegetation on algific talus slopes. Therefore, we studied the floristics of bryophytes on 15 algific talus slopes in Korea. The bryophytes on the algific talus slopes in Korea consisted of 59 families, 138 genera, 226 species, two subspecies, and five varieties, totaling 233 taxa. Peculiarly, many northern bryophytes, such as Andreaea rupestris var. fauriei (Besch.) Takaki., Buxbaumia minakatae S. Okamura, Racomitrium lanuginosum (Hedw.) Brid., Hylocomium splendens (Hedw.) Schimp., and Pleurozium schreberi (Willd. ex Brid.) Mitt. were found on the algific talus slopes. Of them, unrecorded species from south Korea numbered 14 taxa and unrecorded species from the Korean peninsula numbered seven taxa. A similarity analysis based on the bryophyte flora showed that the index of similarity between regions with similar environmental factors was high. This means that the bryophyte flora composition on each algific talus slopes was affected by topography and microclimate. Algific talus slopes are phytogeographically significant microhabitats where northern plant species that advanced southward during the latest glacial age have been isolated and adapted. However, algific talus slopes have constantly been destroyed or damaged by humans without consideration of conservation. Conservation strategies to ensure the biodiversity and effective management of algific talus slopes in Korea are discussed in detail.

  • Mushrooms in Naejangsan National Park between May and September of 2021 have been surveyed. In this period, a total of 4 divisions, 9 classes, 25 orders, 72 families, 171 genera, and 381 species, including 3 climate-sensitive biological indicator species were found. The order in which the most diverse array of species was observed is Agaricales, which includes 24 families, 64 genera, and 170 species. Among these, the genus Russula was dominant, with 30 species, followed by the genus Amanita with 27 species. Among the 12 grids we investigated, species diversity was greatest in grid F5, in which 56 species of mushrooms were found. In particular, a large number of ectomycorrhizal mushrooms, including Russula spp. and Lactarius spp. were recognized. We presume that the gentle slopes and the low occurrence of Sasa borealis in this area may create a favorable environment for wild mushrooms. In corroboration, some grids (e.g. F6, F8, and F10) covering steep slopes and harboring large numbers of Sasa borealis contained only 19 species. Based on DNA sequence analysis, the NJ21064 was identified as Chlorophyllum hortense, which is newly recorded in Korea.

  • Vulpia octoflora (Walter) Rydb.

  • Based on three specimens (50.6~67.7 mm SL) collected from the southern coastal waters of Jejudo Island, Oxycheilinus bimaculatus was described as the first record from Korea. They were characterized by having two small dark spots behind eye on head and body posterodorsally, a rhomboid caudal fin with elongated central rays and produced uppermost ray as a filament in terminal male, six predorsal scales, and two scale rows on cheek. We proposed a new Korean name, "Du-jeom-gin-ju-dung-i-nol-rae-gi", for the species referring to having two dark spots on head and body.

  • Two naturalized plants belonging to Plantaginaceae and Labiatae are newly recorded for Korean flora. Nuttallanthus canadensis (L.) D. A. Sutton, a taxon of the unrecorded genus Nuttallanthus (Plantaginaceae), was founded in Seogwipo-si, Jeju-do. This species can be distinguished from the Linaria species by its corolla with a pale blue to a pale purple color, a lower lip longer than the upper lip and seed with 4-7 angles when cross-sectioned. Lamium purpureum var. hybridum (Vill.) Vill. was found in Gwangju Metropolitan city, Jeongeup-si, Jeollabuk-do and Gochang-gun, Jeollanam-do. It can be distinguished from L. purpureum L. by its irregularly dentate bracts and upper lips 3-4 mm in length. New Korean names were given, as Sol-lip-hae-rancho to Nuttallanthus canadensis (L.) D. A. Sutton and Eu-reop-gwang-dae-na-mul to Lamium purpureum var. hybridum (Vill.) Vill. In addition, their descriptions, photos, illustrations and keys to related genera and species are provided here.

  • Two naturalized plants belonging to Asteraceae (Compositae) were collected in Gangwon-do and Jeju-do. Euthamia graminifolia (L.) Nutt., a taxon of unrecorded genus Euthamia Nutt., was found in Inje-gun, Gangwon-do. This species can be distinguished from Solidago japonica Kitam. and S. gigantea Aiton by punctate, entire leaves and disc corollas without vein. Its Korean name was given 'Mi-yeok-chwi-a-jae-bi' because it shows similar external appearances with that of the Mi-yeok-chwi (Solidago japonica Kitam.). Gamochaeta pensylvanica (Willd.) Cabrera was discovered in Jeju-do. It can be distinguished from G. purpurea (L.) Cabrera by withering basal leaves at flowering and relatively short inner phyllaries. This taxon was named 'Mi-guk-pulsom- na-mul' in Korean by considering its specific epithet.
