Performance Test and Model-Ship Correlation for a Waterjet Propulsion System (실선 물분사 추진장치 성능시험 및 모형선-실선 상관관계)

  • This study describes sea trial tests for a waterjet propulsion system attached in the hybrid super high speed cargo ship named "Narae". A measuring technique of jet velocity, gross thrust and impeller torque for the waterjet system is explained. From the measured data in sea trial test, performance of the waterjet propulsion system is analyzed and compared with model test results of a similar waterjet system which was carried out in 1996. The erective horse power estimated from sea trial tests shows a good agreement with resistance test results of the model ship. The optimum rising height is estimated as 0.75 m, and the overall efficiency of the waterjet system is predicted as 0.315 at 15 knots. Useful data such as the pump performance, the jet efficiency, the losses of inlet duct and nozzle were obtained. Test results show a similar behavior to the model test results.

  • 고속 선박을 추진하는 한 방법으로 널리 사용되는 물분사 추진은 물을 내부 덕트로 빨아들여 임펠러로 물을 가속시켜 노즐을 통해 분사시킴으로써 입출구의 운동량차이에 의해 추력을 얻는 추진장치이다. 선박의 목적에 따라 사용되는 다양한 형태의 물분사 추진기의 개발을 위하여 모형실험을 통하여 그 성능을 검증하는 부분에서 로터의 피치각 변화에 따른 추진기의 성능 실험을 하는 것은 많은 비용과 시간이 따른다. 따라서 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위하여 본 연구에서는 추진기 내부의 유동장을 4가지 피치각에 따라 추진력을 3차원 비압축성 Navier-Stokes 방정식을 이용하여 해석하였다. 로터의 회전을 고려하여 슬라이딩 다중 격자기법을 적용하였고 추력계수, 토크계수, 그리고 모멘텀을 해석 결과와 비교 분석을 통하여 추진기의 성능과 효율을 추정하였다.

  • This paper describes the experimental method of a pod-type waterjet propulsion system in a towing tank and shows the experimental analysis and test results of a designed waterjet propulsion system to be used for a hybrid high speed craft. The cruising performance of this craft is estimated from the results of the hull resistance test and waterjet test under the assumption that the interaction between the hull and the inlet pod is very small. A pod-type waterjet system with an axial pump was designed and a stand-alone waterjet experimental system was developed. Useful data such as the pump performance, the jet efficiency, the losses of inlet duct and nozzle were obtained. Test results show a good agreement with the design requirement.

  • An experimental study was carried out to understand the characteristics of the long wave infrared signal emitted from the exhaust plume when water is sprayed around it. The micro-jet engine was used to generate the exhaust plume, and eight water spray nozzles were installed around the exhaust nozzle. Two water injection angles were applied, one is sparying parallel to the exhaust plume, and the other is spraying water into the exhaust plume. The measurement results are as follows. When spraying water parallel to the exhaust plume, the long wave infrared signal is decreased with water spray flow rate. When spraying water the exhaust plume, the long wave infrared signal shows a larger value than plume only.

  • Numerical studies were performed to investigate an effective water cooling type for reducing the thermal load of deflector in test facility with two cooling types and various mass flow rate conditions. According to analyses a core water injection type was superior to a side water injection fro the viewpoint of reducing the thermal load of deflector.

  • In the supersonic jet of a solid rocket motor, various noise is investigated. The purpose of this study is to attain and evaluating a design and manufacturing technique of the SRM noise reduction. In this study, the water is injected into the supersonic jet of the SRM to reduce the noise. Furthermore, the diffuser and stack are installed to suppress the SRM noise. Through the SRM ground tests, the noise is reduced approximately 20dBA with application of the diffuser/stack with water injection.

액체 로켓용 2중 충돌(F-O-O-F)형 분사기의 미립화 특성에 관한 연구

  • 본 연구에서는 액체 로켓용 추진제 분사기로 많이 활용되는 충돌형 분사기중에서 2중 충돌(F-O-O-F)형 분사기에 대한 미립화 특성을 파악하였다. 액적의 크기를 측정하기 위하여 위상/도플러 입자분석기를 사용하였으며, 모의 추진제로 물을 사용하였다. 모의 추진제의 운동량비와 압력 강하량 변화에 따른 2중 충돌(F-O-O-F)형 분사기의 미립화 특성과 크기분포에 대하여 고찰하였다. 분사기 면으로부터 100mm 떨어진 단면에서 산화제/연료의 운동량비가 MR=1.19에서 MR=6.48까지 증가함에 따라 액적크기(SMD)는 감소하였으며, 액적크기(SMD)가 운동량비(MR)에 대하여 SMD= 193.480+15.687MR-5.036M$R^2$+0.415MR$^3$와 같은 관계식에 근사되었다 또한, 연료와 산화제의 압력강하량이 증가할수록 액적크기(SMD)가 감소하였다. 충돌 분무유동장의 액적크기 분포는 Rosin-Rammler 분포함수와 Upper-limit분포함수 모두에 대하여 잘 일치하고 있다. 본 연구의 결과는 액체 로켓용 충돌형 분사기의 초기 설계단계에서 유용하게 사용될 수 있을 것이다.

초고속선 점성유동

  • 초고속선에 관련된 점성유동은 저한성능 향상과 운항자세 제어를 위해 사용되는 다양한 선체부 가물의 저항 예측과 초고속선에 많이 사용되는 물분사 추진장치 입구 형상의 설계 그리고 임펠 러에 이르는 덕트 유동의 예측을 중심으로 관심을 받아왔다. 본 소고에서는 통상적인 선박의 경우와는 구별되는 초고속선 고유의 점성유동 특성에 관하여 간략히 논의하기로 하고 내용을 크게 선체-부가물 점성유동과 물분사 추진장치에 관련되어 있는 덕트유동으로 나누어 기술하 였다.

  • The design of coaxial porous injector was suggested to improve the mixing and atomizing performance at the center region of the conventional 2-phase flow coaxial shear injector spray. Several cold flow tests of 2-dimensional injectors was performed, and the gas injection area was varied to determine the effect of the magnitude of gas radial momentum.

  • Mixing characteristics of unlike impinging streams double injectors have a great effect on combustion stability and combustion efficiency for liquid rocket engine. In this study a cold test was carried out, using water and TCE as simulants, in order to examine the effect of design parameters such as impingement angle, orifice diameter ratio and momentum ratio on the mass distribution and mixing quality.
