목말뼈 안정화 테이핑을 동반한 정적 장딴지근 스트레칭이 발목 관절의 발등굽힘과 균형에 미치는 즉각적인 효과 (The Immediate Effects of Static Stretching with Talus Stability Taping on Ankle Dorsiflexion and Balance)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of talus stability taping during gastrocnemius stretching on ankle passive dorsiflexion, talus posterior glide, and balance in subjects with limited ankle dorsiflexion. Methods: Fifteen subjects (eight males and seven females) with limited ankle dorsiflexion participated in this study. Ankle passive dorsiflexion range of motion (ROM), talus posterior glide, and the lower quarter Y-balance test (YBT-LQ) were measured pre-stretching, after applying gastrocnemius stretching (GS), and after applying gastrocnemius stretching with talus stability taping (GSTST). The two types of stretching were performed at random. Results: Ankle passive dorsiflexion ROM was significantly increased by both types of stretching (p < 0.05), and ROM was significantly more increased post-GSTST than post-GS (p < 0.05). In addition, talus posterior glide was significantly increased post-GSTST than pre-stretching and post-GS (p < 0.05). However, there was no significant difference between post-GS and pre-stretching (p > 0.05). YBT-LQ score was significantly increased post-GSTST than pre-stretching (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Gastrocnemius stretching with talus stability taping is an effective method for subjects with limited ankle dorsiflexion to improve ankle passive dorsiflexion, talus posterior gliding, and balance.

뇌졸중 환자를 위한 물리치료 강도 (Intensity of Physical Therapy for Stroke)

  • Purpose : This paper reviews intensity of physical therapy for stroke. Methods : This is literature study with Pubmed, EBSCO, ProQuest, EMBASE and CINAHL. Results : There were 20 studies that reviewed effects of increased intensity of physical therapy after stroke involving time post-stroke, elements of physical therapy, duration of physical therapy, methods of physical therapy. Ten of the eleven studies, involving time post-stroke, demonstrated significant improvement. Seventeen studies involving upper extremity, lower extremity and mobility demonstrated significant improvement. Five studies involving increased duration of physical therapy demonstrated significant improvement. Studies involving methods of physical therapy showed that mix of different methods is more effective than single method. Conclusion : Increased intensity of physical therapy improve functional recovery.

  • Purpose: This study aims to report on the effect of providing customized visiting exercise, a musculoskeletal intervention method, to the elderly in the community. Methods: In this study, subjective pain was measured to evaluate pain and physical ability of the elderly, and timed up & go (TUG) test and psychological level test were performed for myofascial pain perception symptoms and gait function. Measurements were performed twice before and 4 weeks after treatment. Participants in the exercise group (n=108) performed the spine exercise, whereas those in the spine exercise group (n=108) performed the spine exercise using complex exercise program (3 times/week for 4 weeks). Results: The significant test of visual analogu scale (VAS), pain pressure threshold (PPT), TUG, psychosocial factor according to applying the exercise within groups used T-test. In the result following analysis, there was significance on VAS (p=.000), PPT (p=.000), TUG (p=.000), Psychosocial factor (Depresion; p=.000, Anxiety; p=.000) within group. Conclusion: Then, exercise has benefit on the VAS, PPT, TUG, psychosocial factor in patients with myofacial pain syndrome. So, it may suggest that exercise will be helpful of the pain, gait and psychosocial factor improvement the patients with spine pain.

물리치료 전공 대학생들의 정형도수 물리치료 분야의 취업 및 진로 선호도 조사 (A Study on the Employment and Career Preferences of College Students Majoring in Physical Therapy for Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy)

  • Background: This study aimed to determine the employment and career preferences for orthopedic manual physical therapy for college students majoring in physical therapy. Methods: The subjects were 267 college students majoring in physical therapy, and a survey was conducted both online and offline. The collected data were statistically processed to analyze employment and career according to the general characteristics. Results: Interest, temporal satisfaction of education, and the need for special lectures on orthopedic manual physical therapy were significantly different by sex. There were significant differences in sex, grade, and age with regard to whether they go to graduate school related to orthopedic manual physical therapy and whether to study more about orthopedic manual physical therapy. Conclusions: The educational curriculum must be reinforced for students through systematic curriculum reorganization reflecting their preference for orthopedic manual physical therapy.

넙다리뒤근이 단축된 성인에게 시행된 근에너지기법과 도구를 이용한 연부조직가동술이 관절가동범위, 근력, 근 두께에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Muscle Energy Technique and Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization in Adults with Shortened Hamstring on the Range of Motion, Muscle Strength and Muscle Thickness)

  • Background: This study aimed to investigate the effects of muscle energy technique (MET) and instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM) on knee extension ROM, knee extensor/flexor strength and muscle thickness immediately and after 24 hours. Methods: A total of 30 subjects participated in this study. The participants were assigned to either MET (n=15) or IASTM (n=15). 90-90 straight leg raise, knee extensor/flexor muscle strength, muscle thickness test were measured before, immediately after and 24 hours after the intervention. Results: Both groups significantly improved knee extension ROM on immediate (MET 10.7°, IASTM 10.21° increased) and after 24 hours assessment (MET 5.61°, IASTM 5.47° increased)(p<.05). In the MET group, knee extension and flexion muscle strength increased immediately after intervention (p<.05). In the IASTM group, knee extension muscle strength increased and knee flexor muscle strength decreased immediately after intervention (p<.05). Furthermore, both groups showed a pattern of returning to the initial strength after 24 hours. In both groups, no significant difference in muscle thickness immediately and after 24 hours was observed (p>.05). Conclusion: According to the results of the present study, MET and IASTM technique showed lasting effectiveness in flexibility of shortened hamstring immediately after and in 24 hours after the intervention. In both groups, MET increased muscle strength and increased ROM, while IASTM decreased muscle strength and increased ROM, with no change in muscle thickness.

엉덩관절 각도에 따른 PNF 하지굴곡패턴운동이 체간 근활성도에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of PNF Leg Flexion Patterns according to the Hip Joint Angle on EMG Activity of the Trunk)

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) leg flexion patterns according to the hip joint angle on electromyographic activity of the trunk. Methods : Thirty healthy adults volunteered to participate in this study. Subjects were required to complete following the PNF leg flexion patterns on three different hip joint flexion $30^{\circ}$, $60^{\circ}$ and $90^{\circ}$. An surface electromyogram (SEMG) was used to record the electromyographic activities of the trunk muscle in rectus abdominis, internal oblique abdominal, external oblique abdominal, erector spinae. The data were analyzed using the a repeated measures of one-way ANOVA with post-hoc Bonferroni's correction. Result : The results of this study are summarized as follows: The EMG activities of internal abdominal oblique and elector spinae muscle showed a statistically significant difference (p<.05). Conclusion : The result show that electromyographic activity of the trunk muscles significantly changed on PNF leg flexion patterns with difference hip joint angle. Therefore, this study used to basis for the intervention of the trunk muscle strength and stabilization.

편마비 환자의 발목관절에 시행된 메이틀랜드 관절가동술과 움직임을 동반한 관절가동술이 관절가동범위, 정적 및 동적 균형, 족저압, 보행 능력에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (The Study on the Effects of Maitland Mobilization and MWM for Range of Motion, Static and Dynamic Balance, Plantar Pressure, Gait Ability Performed on the Ankle Joint of Hemiplegic Patients)

  • Background: This study aimed to investigate the effect of maitland mobilization and mobilization with movement (MWM) applied to the ankle joint on ankle dorsiflexion range of motion (ROM), static and dynamic balance, plantar pressure, and gait ability. Methods: A total of 24 individuals were assigned to either the maitland mobilization group (n=12) or the MWM group (n=12). Dorsiflexion ROM, static and dynamic balance, plantar pressure, 10-meter walk test were measured before and 4 weeks after the intervention. Results: Both groups showed a significant difference in the evaluation after 4 weeks as the dorsiflexion ROM of the ankle increased (p<.05), and the sway length and sway area indicating static balance decreased (p<.05). Furthermore, the movement area showing dynamic balance showed a significant increase (p<.05), the plantar pressure difference between both feet significantly decreased (p<.05). In the 10-meter walk test, there was a significant difference as the time decreased (p<.05). However, no significant difference between the two groups was observed (p>.05). Conclusion: According to the results of this study where, maitland mobilization and MWM were applied to the ankle joint of hemiplegic patients for 4 weeks, we found no difference between the two groups. However, each technique was found to be effective for dorsiflexion ROM, static and dynamic balance, plantar pressure, and gait.

소뇌 출혈 환자에 대한 ICF Tool을 적용한 중재전략의 증례 (A Case Report of Intervention Strategy Applied ICF Tool about Patient with Cerebellar Hemorrhage)

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study was to describe the Intervention strategy applied ICF Tool about patient with cerebellar hemorrhage. Methods : The data was collected by patient with cerebellar hemorrhage. We applied the ICF Tool for patient with cerebellar hemorrhage. Parameters of result were collected for using the Timed up and go test, Berg balance scale and ICF assessment sheet. Results : Significant differences were observed the patient for Timed up and go test, Berg balance scale and ICF assessment sheet. patient with cerebellar hemorrhage improved all test. Conclusion : ICF Tool applied Intervention about patient with cerebellar hemorrhage is very useful and effective. It is effective in clinical practice.
